Playable Bridge Officers

I was in the Thread and another player and I thought you would be able to play the character you promoted on away missions.

Others said you would promote him to Captain and would then choose him from you character list at log in. I wouldn't mind this option but I would like to see playable bridge officers also.

I first heard Dstahl mention in a pod cast interview last year. That they were looking into away to let you play your bridge officers. I thought you would be able to choose the officer you wanted to play from your crew.

My idea on this was in your assignment tabs you would select your away team. Then there would be another pop down option to select the officer you wanted to play. You would be able to select another officer from your crew if you wanted and your character would be selected by default.

A lot of players are proud of their crew and this would give them a chance to play as one of them. This would also make ground combat better for those that spec all space traits. It would give you another level of customization. The bridge officer skills points on your BO would override your character build for your created toon on away missions if you played one of them.

This would give players the best of both worlds they could have a fully spec'ed space and ground character to play. Also it wouldn't get as boring because you could play a science character in space then select your tactical officer for ground. Or play your engineer the next mission. You would always have to play your created character in space.

On TNG you always see Riker leading the away missions or another member of the crew. There was some regulation he would remind Picard of that wouldn't let the Captain take unnecessary risk. It seems kind of odd that your Admiral is always on the ground slugging it out with the Borg or in a fire fight with some one.

I don't know if this would work for PVP maybe they would have to make it where bridge officers wear kits.
This could be another way to get players in ground PVP and ground fleet actions. They wouldn't feel they were at a disadvantage because they spec'ed for space.

    This would give you many more options for ground combat. You could have a tactical captain but decide to play a healing science officer for a mission if you wanted or the other way around. It would give you a lot more freedom in game play.
