These are satirical comments that express that the requests in the OP trivialize the groups mentioned:
A carpenter died? Quick! To the c-store sale!
All the snakes left an island? Quick! To the c-store sale!
Commemorate the fallen? Quick! To the c-store sale!
Sometimes, it's just better not to have a sale for everything, in my opinion. Feels a bit strange.
What I mean by this is commercially exploiting a day to honor the dead both cheapens and demeans their sacrifices. I am against commercial exploitation of these protected classes.
Commemorate the fallen? Quick! To the c-store sale!
As a Purple Heart Veteran I respectfully ask that you please be respectful to members of the military, and Armed Forces Day is not about the fallen. Thats Memorial Day. I understand that you are trying to make your point with examples, but please a little sensitivity toward fallen military members please. I understand that you probably did not mean anything by it, and I might be oversensitive toward the subject, but your sarcasm was a little hurtful.
There were rumours of a 'Tax Rebate' sale in April.
Additional rumours that it would include Lifetime subs this time.
I read the post were dstahl said that he would try to see if he could get another sale because certain people could not get the lifetime sub because they got their taxes back to late.
A sale when there is no holiday in the month would be kinda odd... Its the middle of May! Quick! To the c-store! But having sales during common holidays is typical business practices.
Also please be careful when mocking that you do not scorn those who gave their lives so you could be scornful without getting shot or tossed in jail for it.

I personally found the religious and military comments humorless and in poor taste, as part of my job this last year has been bringing Soldiers home to their families for the last time. Some people will never understand that until they serve in danger far away from home. How fortunate that a vast majority of citizens will never have to know what the real costs are.
I'm sure it was meant in jest but I'm disappointed by it.
actually I think what he said was respectful (even though you guys completely took what he said out of context. All he was saying was that its stupid to have a sale for everything). In my view, having a sale because of memorial day or an armed forces day is very insulting because businesses are exploiting those days in order to make more money.
I don't know what the second poster said, but I threw Armed Forces Day in there because I am a Vet, 8 years US Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars lifetime member, past Commander of the post I belong to. It was half in jest, but I thought it would be cool to use that day to honor those vets who play the game, reserving Veterans Day and Memorial Day as days of remembrance where such commercialization is unwarranted.
My entire point of posting was to protect the protected classes.
I am a former USMC veteran myself. My point was that putting a sale on everything cheapens and demeans these respective groups: from the religious to fellow military veterans.
Surely, you can understand my frustration at the suggestion that my dead friends and colleagues I'll never see again should have a c-store sale. It feels insulting to hear such a request. I don't believe every holiday, especially the more somber ones should have sales.
That is the point I'm articulating, NOT in an attack on but in a DEFENSE OF protected classes:

It's an insult to their sacrifices to exploit those memorials in such way.
And that's the long and short of what I meant.

Armed Forces Day wasn't set up to be a memorial day to "commemorate the fallen" veterans. Armed Forces Day was set up to celebrate our Armed Forces through parades, open houses, receptions, and Air and Land Shows. It is a day to share with the non military public some of the technology and training the Armed Forces uses, not a day for the individual Veteran.
This is why I mentioned that day instead of Veterans day or Memorial Day. As I said in my reasoning, those two holidays shouldn't be subjected to such commercialization, but I see no reason to not have an Armed Forces Day C-Store sale.
A St. Patrick's day sale would be kind of nice, since it's my birthday. Honestly though, I'd rather wait until after the TOS bundle pack is released because I want to get it on sale. So I'm fine waiting for the Tax Refund sale.

This clarifies it.
Still, the concept feels strange to me but hopefully people understand that I wasn't denigrating anyone by what I stated.
There are plenty of days to have a sale and plenty of other reasons to have one, I suppose.
I agree with Darren, having a sale on Armed Forces Day seems weird to me. In my opinion, its companies exploiting those who put their lives in danger for us.i

Ah, so you guys don't move it based on Lent. But that's actually even worse, since that's the day before Easter this year, so would get enveloped by an Easter sale.

Have you been to an Armed Forces Day event? If not go to one, I highly recommend it. Anyhow, your thinking about the individual vet. Like I said Armed Forces Day is not for him or her, in fact, the Armed Forces themselves exploit Armed Forces Day as a recruiting tool. The Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, Golden Knights all recruiting tools, and on display, especially on Armed Forces Day. This is their day to say, "Hey, look what you can do if you join us." This is evident as you walk around and see all the recruiting booths. The closest thing you get to honoring our fallen Veterans at one of these events is a moment of silence at the beginning...if that. After that It's all about recruitment.

Yeah, but a sale capitalizing on it?
I readily acknowledge that most businesses operate with sales on military-related holidays but it's never felt right with me.
Partly, it's because I saw businesses and congressmen exploiting fellow veterans while I was recovering in Washington, D.C. (in Bethesda, a suburb). Perhaps, I am overreacting due to my personal bias but I'm just not comfortable with it.
Summit, Armed Forces Day is celebrated by many countries, in one way or another, throughout the world.
I see your point, however, you could say that the Armed Forces are capitalizing as well on Armed Forces Day, not money wise, but recruit wise. Does that feel right to you? How many kids go to that event and see The Blue Angels or the Golden Knights, and say, "That's what I want to do when I grow up." Teens undecided about their career path suddenly found their calling. I say when in Rome...
Sincerely,
David Peters

"Semper Fi" Marine brother and well met. Its clearer now than it was original and I apologize for misunderstanding your intent here, and applaud your stand. I ask that you chalk it up to job stress on my end making me overly touchy in these matters.

However, I do think there is a such thing as excessive sales (And I think they need to do away with blanket 20% off sales, so the points are even)
So, here a couple great sale days :
First Contact Day
Captain Picard Day
Commander Riker Day
Kal Rekk
Bajoran Gratitude Festival
Kot'baval Festival
Federation Day
What do you think?

April Fool!

Every day is April Fool's for the unwary Brit.
Wouldn't that end up being a week after the proposed Easter sale? Or is St. George's day a different date in England?

Or if you buy something you will get an common tribble instead

I knew people in the military that are now DEAD. They're not going to respawn, they can't be rezzed, they died while serving their country for real.
That you, or anyone else, would even suggest that we should remember their sacrifice with a sale on imaginary video game items is just disgusting.
Go have your Armed Forces Day party/parade/whatever, but don't start waving "Now 20% off Sale!!!" signs in my face while I'm mourning my dead friends.
