So something happened to my install after patching and wouldn't allow the game to start, so I decided to do a fresh install (uninstall, then reinstall the game). Lo and behold, after uninstalling (which happened amazingly quickly), everything (And I do mean everything) was gone. Keybinds, screenshots, saved costumes, captain's bios I decided to save. All gone.
I wasn't really expecting that, because when I have to do this for other games, they only uninstall the important game files and leave the player edited and created files behind.
So be sure to back up your screenshot folder and any other folders you decide to create (saved keybinds, character bios, etc) before you uninstall.
To the devs:
Is there a way to recover those lost files? It is quite upsetting to lose all of those wonderful screenshots I took. If not, perhaps consider updating the uninstaller so that it does not destroy the data created by your customers in the process of deleting the files necessary for gameplay. Otherwise it feels like a big middle finger to us for uninstalling your game.
I personally use a self protect process prior to Un-Install actions. I look at the folders and see if there is any info I may not want to loose, and make a *.Bak file or folder in a TEMP folder on my HD. Then after re-install, copy those back into the appropriate spots. Saves some later headaches.

I will from now on, but I've never had to consider this before as STO is the only program I've ever had that deleted absolutely everything from the folder. Every other program and game I've had would only delete the files necessary for the program to run and leave any user edited or created files alone.

I hope I helped some. I have been up against this type of thing for better than 20 years, so be there, done that. Good luck.
My main worry was the speed that the files deleted themselves. The hogg files alone are several GBs and any other file deletion, be it mp3 files or whatever, normally takes some time to be eradicated from my computer. I was left wondering whether the files were deleted at all, as I could not see any marginal difference in the capacity of my hard drive after I did it...

Yes! They were ALL gone in a flash.
