I was talking about this in fleet chat not half an hour ago, Holodec is getting awful crowded, Especially outside ESD where people seem to just want to park up and spam ability effects.
We recently increased the number of players per map instance in the social zones, and I think we overshot the mark a bit. We will be reducing them a bit in the near future so they don't feel so crowded.
I believe that the Ground Areas are just fine with the number of people in them.
Star Bases / Planets are meant to feel crowded
But yeah... Space seem to be a little tooooooo populated, it sometimes feel like noon rush hour with 20 space ships in front of you and 20 more behind you LOL
I think my biggest issue - even before the overload - is that there really should be more area spawn points. Every single player warps into (or undocks from) the same general area. Looks kinda silly when tens of ships start piling up in the same itty bitty area, when space is a really big place. :P. It would help if these entrance points were spread around some.
But yeah, I agree that ground social areas are fine. Space is where the silliness propagates.

Please. Its causing my PC (not the fastest in the world, I'll admit, in fact a powerful Pocket calculator might give it a run for its money) is beginning to chug a bit when things get busy, like around the featured episode mission hubs.
I agree with the perspective on space areas getting over crowded. With one HUGELY notable exception; Earth Space Dock!
ESD's new level of traffic makes it feel alive, I love it!
I kinda LIKE my maps being busy and filled. It makes me feel like the game is even that much more popular. I'd be very sad to see it shink again, and I'm probably not the only one.

I'll be honest, I like having more people per instance zone be it ground or space. There's a war on, we SHOULD see fleets of ships moving back and forth (imo) 75 across the board is a good cap. (imo)

so let me get this right........you won't give us functioning ships interiors on account of cryptic wanting to force people to socialize and intereact with each other, ie create a community, now its too crowded and people are having panic attacks OMG another ship is COMING RIGHT AT US, VEER TO STARBOARD HELMSMAN !!!!!!!
how about working on making things ONE zone, instead of transitioning between maps all the time, AND THEN looking at what changes may be need to be made to instance caps to support such a function.

Is that why it seems like I'm getting booted almost every time I change maps or try to start or reenter a mission? The funny thing is that when "Cutting the Cord" dropped I was able to complete the entire mission without a problem, but trying to do diplomatic missions is often nearly impossible because they take so long to load that by the time I do get in (assuming I'm not booted yet again) the mission has already timed out.
I've been playing since beta but had to take several months off in the middle and it seems that this problem has actually gotten worse, which I frankly find difficult to understand. Kinda makes me long for the days when we were rubberbanding all over the place and you'd often beam down to a ground map as your ship, but at least you didn't have to keep reentering your password over and over and over...
Seriously Cryptic, this game has been live for over a year now. I'm having a lot of trouble understanding why you folks haven't gotten a handle on this issue by now.
And before you ask, I've checked. It's not my connection or my PC, it's on your end.
I agree that the spawn points need to be spaced out a lot. It's very annoying that everyone spawns on top of each other
Another thing: does anyone get lag on the ground map of ESD? I don't usually have any problems with any lag, but on ESD I usually have to wait a few seconds before it gets playable. And even then it's less than optimal. Lowering graphical settings doesn't change anything.
On this note, I'd really hate ESD (ground) to have less players per instance. The game hardly feels social with all the instances as it is

Just a quicky about Numbers issue: Not too long ago, I recall reading some posts that there were not enough players allowed on each instance map, now the switch to having too many?? Someone needs to make up their mind as to what they really want out of the game, then things could get stabalized a bit.

If you guys are having PC performance issues you could always try playing KDF......It gets emptier every day!
You obviously have not visited Qo'noS for quite some time. It is far from empty and it is in fact getting more crowded every day. I've stopped playing my Feds. I now have 3 Lt. Generals and am now working on a 4th.

It makes space feel small rather than large
I second that, on the Starbases / Ground it finally seems busy as it should be and it even looks like we get some social interaction. ... thats a good thing
Space just outside the system 8especially around the weekly mission) sometimes looks more like an invasion fleet.
I actually like seeing more players. I can say that the increase in players has lengthened my load times, but not horribly. As far as getting booted goes, I maybe get booted one time more a week than I did before the increase. My comp is 3 years old, and I have no lag issues anywhere. Very rarely I have a rubberbanding issue, but that is usually on maps with a lot of asteroids.
Just on my own personal experience, I would agree with the people who are suggesting that you just spread out the spawn points a little....
This was one thing I noticed when I returned to the game recently. It feels more crowded. IIn a way, it feels good to see people around you. I like to see so many people on board ESD or planet side. I can agree that we may need more spawn points around ESD in space. But having a lot of ships orbiting Earth makes sense to me. After all, it's the heart of the Federation.

If all the ships are at ESD. Who the hell is on the Front-Line. All of you "In the rear with the gear" types need to get to the Neutral Zone and kill Klingon's. Sheeesh, no wonder we are losing this war!!!!!

Please do not reduce the amount of people in each instance.
Instead, please invest the time in increasing the size of the galaxy we play in.
I agree, the number of people around feels great. Just add multiple spawn points.
I feel like I'm in a great armada ready to flex Fed muscle whenever I zone into a crowded area, even so much as humming Trek battle tunes when I do! Just think of the DS9 eps with all those ships lining up to fight...

Thank you! While seeing other people in game is great, there simply are too many right now in areas like in or around ESD. I never had the problem before with memory issues but after the zone population increased, I get this message during prime play times.

Empty space really wasn't amazing. I like populations.

Space should be emptier, I liked it the way it was with smaller instances. Ships shouldn't be bumping into each other everywhere you go. No problem with large amounts in ESD, but way too many outside of it.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please don't, please don't, please don't... I love seeing people all over the place, before it felt dead and now it feels alive. Please don't reduce the # of players in an instance, please...

Some space locales should be empty agreed. But when you're talking about ESD the HQ for the Federation - there should be tons of ships flying around. Both in and out of it. However, some have mentioned more spawn points which may cure the "blobs" of people.
A sweet spot is needed so that the needs of the many can be served. Sadly not all can afford the best of hardware. I too, like the feeling of life, and activity. But it is not fun if 5% to 10% of this "life" is paralyzed in the process. I hope a happy medium can be found.

Maybe lower the spam a little, it may lessen the load on the tribbles.
Or you could go to bed. Both of our suggestions are valid though a bit tongue in cheek.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... Please dont...
Finally after a year, you guys up the number of player in instances, finall making us not feel "alone", and now you want to remove it again?
Instead, increase the "spawn" area in sector space, so that people don't spawn right on top of each other...

My 2 cents, not that it matters...
