Open Jacket Uniform Seperation?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I would like to request that the TNG series open jacket and the DS9 ones be added to the TNG and DS9 costume packs. They should be available in both packs.

I shouldn't have to buy two packs to get the complete set of uniforms.

Just my opinion, what do ya'll think?

Do the open versions of the TNG/DS9 ones become available if you only have the open jacket set purchased? If so then it kinda makes the original packs a little less valuable, too.

    Yeah, they do.

I would prefer the open jacket variations to be available in both packs. It seems fair.

    Why?

If you want open jackets you get the open jacket pack.

    Seems pretty straight forward.

As a complete aside, when I read the thread title I thought of a zipper-transitioning skill triggered like the Galaxy saucer separation, and then went into truly surreal territory.

I bought the DS9 and TNG uniform pack but I don't get all those uniforms. I shouldn't have to buy a whole different uniform pack to get 1 uni to complete my collection.

Because they are a different style/uniform pack.

Going by the logic above everyone should get the open jacket versions for the 'A' and 'B' style uniforms that are already in game gratis.

I mean we bought those uniforms when we bought the game, right?

    ;)

No, because I didn't pay EXTRA for those.

I spent EXTRA money to get the special pack, therefore I should get these with them.

Except that the open jacket uniforms were not part of the pack you purchased, mostly becuase they didn't exist at the time that pack was made available. So the question then becomes did you buy the tng/ds9 uniforms before or after the open jacket set became available? If you bought it after your argument may have some merit, since you most like bought the pack as soon as it became available in the C-store (or got them in the collectors edition like I did) then your argument falls flat since the open jacket versions did not exist to purchase at the time.

Why should you get "entirely new" uniforms when you didn't pay for them?
Because thats what they are, Cryptic was just nice and gave the existing uniforms a makeover while theye were at it making the new open jackets.

    I don't think it matters.

I paid Cryptic for the TNG TV Uniforms to wear in game. When they make a modification of it, I shouldn't have to pay more for a pack I supposedly already pay for.

I did not pay for the "Standard Issue TNG uniform pack", I paid for the "TNG TV Costume". When they go back and add something that is a part of that style of uniform, that should have been there when it first came out, it should be in the pack.

Otherwise, they're just being greedy jerks.

That is my opinion of the matter. And opinion is all this thread is about. Yours, mine, etc :)

But the open jacket wasnt apart of those uniforms til now, and they are only apart of it because the Devs took time to create them. Its fluff, which means you pay extra for it.

Ok then to use a real life example. This is like saying "I bought the WoW battle chest when it released but now I have to pay for 'wrath of the lich king' and 'cataclysm' separately?" (FYI the WoW battle chest has the base game and the burning crusade expansion in it and it was released before either of the other expansions were so it was impossible to have those two included in the battle chest at the time.)

Ok so the scale of it is rather a big larger but the principle remains the same.

    They didn't make a modification.
They created entirely new outfits from scratch as part of another pack.

No, because the only way to get those expansion was bundled with a bunch of crud that was unrelated.
IE, you bought the expansion, you didn't have to pay for Starcraft and Warcraft in a big bundle.

If it was just them alone for cheaper, I wouldn't be complaining.

And that is a different situation. Its like comparing how these two people interact and how two independent nations interact. It is oversimplified.

How would you like it, if instead of offering the belts that are a part of the unfiorms, they had come in a seperate belt pack? They were available later after all.

So, it shares no elements with the previously bought uniforms AND is not the TNG style? That isn't what the pics show.

I agree with this. This example fits well with any kind of package deal. There is no way to know that something else will come out for any package deal. To say that you want the anything that comes out after the original package deal for free is just silly.

On a technical level it does not.
The Old uniforms got a major overhaul because of the new Open Jackets.
But the Jackets themselves even though in TNG/DS9 style are completely new costume pieces.

You wan't the jackets, buy the pack.
Its not like the TNG style Open Jackets are even Standard Issue or Uniform for that matter, since Picard is the only one in Trek Canon having been seen to wear it.

No, but if it isn't going to be free, it should be independently available for its value.

To get Catalcysm would you have been happy to have to Buy a special new games pack that Contained Cataclsym, Starcraft 2, and the complete Classic Blizzard Collection?

Interesting, because as I look at them, they seem to follow the same design as the original with added detail.

If the pack was called the TNG Standard Issue Pack, I'd agree with you, but that wasn't what was marketed to me.

You said they were completely new costume pieces, if they were, they wouldn't look alike. :D
