I know, right? Ever since this last update - season...four is it?...the tractor beams are almost completely invisible. I never know if I'm stuck, stopped by a beam, or experiencing lag. Its really funny that the tractor beam repulsors are now REALLY visible but the tractor beams themselves are not. Polarize hull is your friend.

May I suggest polarize hull and AP;O?

I know, after this PvP will be even worse. Why do they make so much stuff to make PvP players mad.
I say to all of you, do like i will do later today and delete the mine reward.

This was my first thought: Oh my ****ing god, this is SO going to break PVP. Especially with the "invisible tractor beam" bug.

I find it fun to use it on Defiants/BoPs as they try to run.... :o

Or in C&H to throw a few out over a node while I wait to be assaulted.

They are a mite frustrating when overplayed though.

im already set up with polarize and omega, it doesnt make a difference
    its still unbearable.
I have no issues with tractor beams.... that come from ships....

if your in a group fight its pretty much guaranteed your going to be slowed by a tractor mine
its just awful, they need disable this TRIBBLE for pvp or put it on a way longer cooldown

Just my gut instinct but a nice happy medium might be:

*Reduce number of mines to two
    *Increase CD by 40%
*(to affected targets) Once tractor terminates you are granted a 30 second immunity to tractor mines

People are going to spam this TRIBBLE and escorts can go TRIBBLE themselves, because everyone now has 4 tractor beams or something. This is a really REALLY bad idea.

    Amen, and amen...

I was completely fed up with tractors after the Deferi missions when you're dealing with the Breen who constantly throw tractor on you and their tractor cool-downs were way less than the polarize hull cool-down.

Its not a bad idea its just inconvenient. If it makes run-and-gun escort people have to rethink their strategy then I'm all for that. Complacency is not a survival trait. But, on the other hand, if there isn't a useful counter to these mines then something should be done to limit their damage.

Mate, unless you are running an engineer escort, hit and run is the ONLY strategy you can apply, otherwise you'll get chewed up to pieces. What would you have escorts do, stand around in fights and be ripped in seconds?

I run an Engineer dreadnought...I understand all your problems. You race in, you unload all your cannons into an enemy and then race away leaving the cruisers to soak up all the damage. When you do get hit with weapon fire you come around begging for "healz plez" and we help you. You should hold off, let the cruisers clear you a path THEN do your bombing run THEN retreat to the rear of the line with the science ships. If you're going to race around shooting at everything that moves you deserve to be out maneuvered by a few tractor beams.

Fun Uses of Tractor Beam Mines:
    • To prevent speed builds on cruisers
    • As a counter to other mine spam (can someone confirm it'll work on other mines?)

Well I am operating with a premise that I am alone. Kinda doesn't make sense to be relying on other players with my gameplay. I never ask for heals, I never expect them and I plan my attacks as if I had no allies. Sure, it's "teamwork" - but only one cruiser out of dozen bothers to heal others.

I predicted this the first time I saw a Tractor Mine. I don't understand how the devs can think being constantly immobilized, held, rooted, stunned or otherwise incapacitated is FUN. Players LOVE being helpless, you know.

Why play an MMO if you're not going to play with other people?

And the reason most cruisers can't heal you is because they've used up all their heals healing themselves to soak up the damage that you don't.

Science ships have most of the healing power, talk to them.

Be reasonable. My attack window counts in seconds, how will I type anything to a sci guy, who's busy himself on the top of that. That's nonsense.

You do it before you start your attack run, obviously. There's a reason that you have the ability to communicate with your other players. I realize you're probably one of those players who solos everything you can and probably feels like the inclusion of the other players is more of a hindrance when you get auto-teamed into something - you may even have auto-teaming turned off to prevent that. But this is a MMO. You're a member of Starfleet...you should start thinking like one.

Honestly, these mines won't change pvp that much. Most people already have fire at will or scatter shot, and the mines decloak when they activate, allowing you to destroy them.

Yeah, just wait till you get a load of the new "cloaking tractor beam mines" from the Reman series. I expect this will immediately become the new FOTM for PvP spam.

This. Oh by the way, did I mention they decloak the klinks? They're gonna love this.

*shrug* i don't see the problem, both sides have them, and there are ways to counter these, do it like the borg: Adapt.

Unlike chain rooting with borg in STFs, these can all be countered quickly.

No they can't. Imagine everyone spamming this. Which means you'll be under influence of 3-4 mines at the same time, during bigger engagements. Only AP:O and PH works on them otherwise.

Also, they decloak the klinks, but the joke is, they are themselves invisible so all the bops and raptors will have no idea they are heading into a minefield, which will leave them exposed.

I do not understand why the Devs spend hours and days balancing the ships and then introduce something so gamebreaking.

    BTW:
    That's the way War works,
You use tactics (hit an run) the opponent develops methods to counter your tactics (tractor mines),
so you have to develop new attack strategies.
(Battle groups? A rearguard with scattervolley or fire at will?)

The quick and easy "strategie" is to cry "nerf" to get the mines nerfed into oblivion to use your old fasioned tactic (again).
