I am quite new to the game, so imagine my shock and horror when I finally arrived to Deep Space 9 and I noticed what a mockery Cryptic has made of Quark's bar. I understand that a game has limited resources and some artistic license had to be taken in presenting the Federation 30 years later, but when such a vital piece of DS9's canon is missing, I can only be disappointed.
I am talking, of course, about Morn. Where's Morn, Cryptic? Morn's chair should never be empty! There's a hologram of Leeta, yet no Morn? When he was missing for 2 weeks in 2374, Quark placed a hologram in his place to avid upsetting the other patrons; I am to assume that he's been missing for an entire year and there hasn't been a total boycott of the station because of it?
We are talking about a Hero of the Federation here! Need I remind you that he was the only one able to give a message to Captain Sisko in 2374, warning him about the Dominion's plan to destroy the minefield at the entrance of the wormhole? Without Morn, the Jem'Hadar reinforcements fleet would have entered the Alpha Quadrant and dealt a crippling blow to the Federation. And yet, not even a portrait of him in the wall? This is a complete outrage!
Fix this, Cryptic. Give us Morn, or a Morn hologram. Just, don't give him much dialog; he talked too darn much in the show. In fact, if he could be completely silent, that'd be perfect; he never shuts up.

I miss the loveable Morn too... he's brilliant. And he never shuts up!
What is this crazy talk? In the DS9 episode "The Visitor", we saw one possible future of the station. In 2405 he ran Quark's; in 2422 he still ran the bar, and had renamed it -- Morn's. STO is set in, what, 2409? Morn is alive and well, for sure. Except that he's not at Quark's. The balance of the universe has been seriously disturbed.
Indeed...I was thinking more like it was 30 years since then...he'd be dead.
no one that became an icon of the show dies, look at picard, hes well over a hundred and was still an ambassador. the guy is still living it up in france.

Um...you mean besides people like Kirk, Spock, Data...Yar... All dead...in the prime timeline...
Granted Spock came back to life...but he still died. People may live longer...but they still die.

He's 104 and he is living on his family vineyard in retirement.
Scotty is 112 and, going by the books, will live to be at least 125 according to the books, when he cuts the ribbon on a research facility named after him.
McCoy lived to be at least 154 according to the books.
Morn may be busy with his life as a secret double-agent. You didn't think he just sits in a bar day in and day out, did you? When he gets called up, he can be away for months at a time, heard from by no one. All to serve his species as a sexy, dangerous secret agent. All that hanging around Quark's is just practice for when he gets interrogated. He won't be telling anything...
Indeed...I was thinking more like it was 30 years since then...he'd be dead.
I don't know if it is funny or annoying, but why is it whenever anyone asks where a character from one of the shows is it's always assumed by someone that "it's been 30 years they must be dead"?
Almost every race in Star Trek lives as long if not longer than Humans, other than the Ocompa, but nobody cares about them. And I am sure that by the 24th/25th century the human life expectancy will be a bit longer than it is now. Hell, some scientists think that the first man to live to be 200 years has already been born. I believe I am that man.
Anywho. I think it is safe to assume that if Picard is still alive and kicking in the year 2409, barring accident or illness almost all the characters that survived the end of their respective shows are still alive too.
As to where Morn is, because this game exists in a bubble were time doesn't pass like it does in real life it could be only a few weeks since the game launched. So Morn could be off visiting his mother or delivering beets somewhere.
Actually I posted about Morn missing in a thread some time back, I belice it was right after I watched that episode as a matter of fact but nobody heard me then so hears hoping they hear you now
If any of the Dev's are reading this (doubt it) then, the WHOLE station needs a good revamp, it just looks way to freaking huge on the inside. And... wasn't there stairs that you could take to the upper level... what about docking bays... and the command center really looks meh... again, the WHOLE station really needs a revamp, or a huge case of elbow grease.
I must admit, I too, was a little disappointed when reaching the station.
Why do people place Human Expectations of Longevity on Aliens...?....
Yeah that's what I said.
As has already been mentioned in the Visitor's alternate time line, Morn is alive and well and running Quarks up until the 2420's at least. Of course that was an alternate future, after Jake, Chakotay/Kim, and Janeway's time line meddling, there is no guarantee that Morn is running Quarks. But it is still highly probable.
....I must admit, I too, was a little disappointed when reaching the station.
I felt the same way.
I remember when I first started playing Lord of the Rings Online I couldnt wait to get to Rivendell, I didnt want to use the Hunter Port skills nor did I want to use the Horses. I wanted to walk there, just like Bilbo did. I died several times and put of my journey until I was a higher level. The wait was worth it, I remember stepping out from the narrow rock path and seeing the whole of Rivendell before me, it looks glorious, exploring it too was a wonderful experience. They got it spot on. It was one of my fondest memories, and one of those gaming moments i'll remember a long time.
It was with a similar anticipation that I set out for DS9 when I first started playing STO, again, my eagerness was put on hold due to the roaming NPCs enroute, but only marginally.
Upon leaving warp and seeing the station in front of me and hearing the music kick in I again felt the same tingle of excitement as when I first set eyes on Rivendell, then the Wormhole erupted and the scene was complete!
Sadly as i got closer I noticed the scale was off, but I forgave that for the time being. But then I beamed down. my dissapointment grew with every step, Quarks didnt look like Quarks, this explained away with some off hand excuse about renvation. Ops didnt look like Ops, there was no habitat area, the place was too small whilst being at the same time too large.
I left in discust.
DStahl has mentioned that an upcomming Feature Episode involves DS9 and during that they are going to give it a bit of a polish, I say no, give it a complete revamp, make it look like the TV show, make it look like what we all know it should look like.
I am not sure how Cryptic came up with the current interiors.
Where is the Infirmary? and why can't I walk through the long curved corridors of the Habitat Ring? DS9 has a crew of 400-1,200 with maximum capacity of 7000 people, but it is pretty much empty. I don't get the feeling of scale that I get at Earth Space Dock.
On and yeah, bring back Morn, (with original voice actor!! <--Joke)

The comparison on those hallways bugs me. The example from in-game is deliberately supposed to be a new area that was built onto the station, jutting off the promenade. It's an area that wasn't supposed to even exist during DS9's run.
I would like to see hallways like the one pictured, which is on the crew decks and in the docking areas.
But the in-game screenshot is supposed to be a new area stapled onto to the promenade, designed by Starfleet engineers

It was faked in that episode so that he could get out of obligations.
The future is looking a little brighter all the time

And Morn's associate/ex-wife wife, Larell too?
She was hot

Holographic Morn. It was done already in the show.
This statement will be scrutinized and referred back to more often than anything you've ever said, even about the Klingons, Romulans, or Tholians.

Also morn. Yes.

Morn is NOT Human...
Why do people place Human Expectations of Longevity on Aliens...?....
For all we know Morn could have been in his childhood while on DS-9...
He might now in 2409, just be reaching Teenager status, based on his races' age computation's.
Maybe when he hits Adulthood, he sprouts wings after emerging from a cocoon...
That's as good a guess as any, based on the Very Little Information we got about his kind during DS-9's run.
Yeah that's what I said.

Typical of Quark to serve minors.

But it will have been at least 30 years (in ST terms) since it appeared onscreen. Surely a little upgradement work could've happened?
