I don't avoid ground missions, but they are the least fun part of this game. The loot is garbage, the game stopping bugs are still around in 20% of the maps and due to nonstop undocumented 'changes' things change under your feet all the time. Usually it's same-old , same-old but this time I need to ask : do BOs no longer use buff tribbles? I had them set up on 40% heal tribble, one buff tribble, hypos and shield charges. I have not seen them use a buff tribble in days. They use the heal tribble. They never use the buff tribble. The tribbles I'm talking about are the regular riv,mat and higher crafted (out of food) tribbles.
Listos Version : My BO's aren't using their buff tribbles. Was this intended?
I thought I was the only player encountering this situation. i've always given my fed boffs tribbles, but very recently, they stopped using them on away missions. It was disconcerrting. hopefully, if something got changed in a patch, we'll see it restored sooner than later.

Sadly, I don't think so. Ground has been getting a SILENT stream of nerfs and 'negative adjustments' for weeks. Bridge officers (BO) completing less actions per minute ; shooting, shield recharging, healing and specials. BO not using buff tribbles. Removing quest ground items (TOS phaser rifle). If I can state 3 specific ones, chances are there are 10 more I have not noticed due to my playstyle or play preferences. When they said they are rebalancing ground, I think what they meant was we all get to play in their ground beta. Sorry but they have been so dishonest in communication (I count silence in the face of uproar as dishonesty) I trust half of what I experience and none of what they tell me.
My guess would be the 'game logic' was changed. I have noticed that my BOFFs take a while to all use the items in their inventory. Oddly my breen officer the last to touch anything. Usually combat gets most of they to pet the tribble, or use buff items.
Now another sort of related topic is how NPCs use far more skills/items/special attack then they once did. I am happy NPCs are more lively, but annoyed since my BOFFs do not seem as aware as they once were. I could push my BOFFs buttons (they sure do push mine), but I can barely keep my own skills going let alone run theirs too.
Maybe this is some of the modified ground combat we were promised? I would like the BOFFs to regain some awareness, but rather the NPCs not loss osme of theirs. I am enjoying the new challenge. Regular Borg missions get kind of interesting now. Rifle butt is you friend, but how do you hit 5 borg head all at once?
Mine still use their tribbles, perhaps less often, but I only equip them with one buff tribble each. I have noticed my SCIBO uses his gravimetric shift on targets that recently died almost all the time now.
I know that the order in which you equip things can affect how often BOs use them. I got a bunch of fire extinguishers from that mission where the Gorn destroy a base. If I equip them in the first device slot and I'm near a fire, my BOs use them continuously. It often happens even if there's no fire around. However, they'll use them infrequently if equipped in other device slots.
Juggling the order of equipped devices also seemed to make some of my officers pop off hypos every minute or so. They didn't even have to be in combat. I stopped giving them consumables because sometimes they'd have none left by the second or third fight.
Cryptic needs to tell us how BOs prioritize and choose devices they have equipped. Having some control over it with settings or right-click options would be really nice. And please stop my SCIBO from trying to bury the dead with gravimetric shift!
My Boffs are using their Tribbles with no problems whatsoever.
The only way to make sure they do use them is to make the Tribble the only device they carry, so they don't try to use another device instead of the Tribble.
Unfortunately, when they choose to use their Tribble is completely random.
Sometimes they'll do it right after beaming down, or wait 5 minutes or even right before a battle.
There's no predictabilty.
By drawing or holstering my weapon, it prompts the Boffs to do the same.
I wish it worked that way with Tribbles.
When I pat my Tribble, they should all get out their Tribbles when I do and activate their buffs.
They indeed will. I haven't noticed any difference in which slot the tribble is in, however I have noticed they use power cells like they are M & Ms. Mine do not do the over-hypo routine.
They also crouch when you do, unless they are moving or melee - which is helpful.
I would love to see them have a setting that says "do not run beyond me when a fight starts" *sigh* Nothing like setting up a great position, and having my TacBOff run into the next room immediately!
(yes..I have gotten used to now setting a rally point, and only releasing it when the fight starts.)
If you're ever bored on an away mission (like THAT ever happens . . .) just give your Klingon BO a tribble and watch the good times roll. The only hypos my BOs seem to snarf are the power cells. I usually give them each one stack of shield charges, one stack of hypos, and two of power cells. I've recently discovered the triolic tribble though, so I've put those on them for a while to see if the damage resist is noticeable. I'll probably just go back to a second set of power cells soon enough.
When they all had the regular +HP tribbles, they used to take them out and pet them all the time when nobody was hurt. I think it makes them feel more secure or something when we're on a strange planet. Even the Klingon would try to pet hers every two minutes while we were just running or standing around. I had one BO who always whipped hers out the second I gave a "beam up" command; I think the transporter freaked her out a little.
Yes, it is fun to watch the Tribble give it's attack shriek when a Gorn or Klingon try to pat it.
I gave my Gorn BOFFS Tribbles just to see this happen!
Ironically, my Liberated Borg BOFF (she's Klingon) is postivitely adored by her Tribble, she gets her buffs and a cooing noise.
Likewise, my Breen BOFF, Orion BOFFS and custom aliens get Tribble cuddle buffing fun.
But strangely, my Photonic Officer is hated by his Tribble.
And he's not even an organic lifeform!
Glad to see I'not the only one that has this problem. I thought it weird that my Sci Captain had to heal them when they all have a standard heal tribble and a buff tribble that they used to use frequently... Not anymore...

So that's what that noise was...
I better take his away from him, lest the SPCA(SPCT?) arrests me...
That said, I haven't fully understood how all this stuff worked. I can only imagine how much less grief I would have gone through had I decided to read these fourms a couple of months ago, rather than now.

Amen to that! Good observations and it does mirror my own experiences, though I hadn't tested item position. Thank you very much for posting your results...:)

the two top tier damage tribbles though : all your BOs will pop them the second they transport in on the mission
