There seems to be a shift in thinking with BO layouts in T-5 ships. Instead of having a com. and Lt. Com of the type of ship (cruiser-eng, escort-tac, etc) They are doing Com of the ship type and Lt. com of a different branch. Are we goign to be seeing a re-specing of BO slots with existing ships to go along with this change?

I would certainly hope so. Reading the way the MVAM-Advanced Escort is going to be set up is making me twitchy. Whatever happened to just putting the console on?
I don't think it will be good if the general changes to BO layouts that dstahl talked about implementing are only coming through the C-store/heavy grind ships. The basic ships need some love too.

My guess? A combination of "you know, it would be so much easier if we code it this way instead" and "okay, who wants to answer the tickets of all the idiots who try to use this on a Star Cruiser?" (And you know people would. Lots of them.)

that you can use on either the new ship it comes with, or the original one it was intended for. The new ship comes with the better BO slots. I hope that's not how they intend on fixing BO layout. Add a special console power to the ship and put it in the c-store. That would be very lame.
Edit: or grind it out with emblems. forgot that part.

Yeah, that's exactly the part that's making me twitchy.

The Excelsior, Advanced Heavy Crusier Retrofit already has that layout for B.O.'s. Commader Engineer and Lt.Commander Tactical.
Also the Advanced Research Vessel Retrofit, Nebula has Commander Science and Lt.Commander Engineer.

I've been pushing this idea for ages.
I really, really hope so.

Except it's still a console too.

Yeah that will definitely be a really crappy thing to do to the community.

Yes, that's the shift in thinking being referred to.
