Men exchange is dreadful !!!
All these prizes is going true the roof at the moment.....
Simple amour blue colored it has prizes off over 200.000 Cr
but where you get Cr from the legal way i mean ......
I noticed you don't get them anymore when finishing PVE only a small amount when you finish PVP.
Can't cryptic blow up there selling prize or something or sell stuff on exchange you get at normal rate ....
I mean merchants don't have always what you looking for so you go for exchange but these prizes .....
Can't they patch it up or something or that you get CR on missions again .
Because if you don't own a fleet or join one you have an very hard time getting your stuff for your ship or crew.
So I humble beg off you cryptic please do something this is ridiculous !!!
200,000 isn't really a lot of money on the exchange. as someone who's never gotten an efficient saurian or anything like that, i've still been able to make millions simply from selling the odd rare drops, loot i don't use and some craftables.
Scan the anomalies while you're doing missions and sell the particle traces. I've made a few million credits using this method.
Or if you're willing to do a little grind, go to the exploration clusters and farm the anomalies there for a few hours. I did this a few weeks ago when I started playing and I've been able to kit both myself and my friend's ships out in everything they've needed at each tier and I still have loads of rare traces left in the bank.
It's stupidly easy to make credits in this game if you're willing to take a break for the pew-pew for a little while and actually make the effort.

Don't worry, Cryptic don't have to do anything, because at some time the exchange will regulate itself. If no one will buy at those prices wether the sellers have to set them down, or they won't sell anything. But this my take a while.

It's already happening. Traces that were selling for 60-70k are down around 20-30k or just sitting on the exchange for weeks unsold. If it drops too low people will stop selling them and you'll be forced to farm them yourself.

Ever played FFXI? Square Enix took that stance for years, but things just kept getting worse, and worse, and worse.
Finally Square Enix stepped in, banned Galaxy Class loads of gold sellers, removed over a trillion gil from in game, and you know what happened?
Prices on EVERYTHING plumetted. The Noble Tunic, one of the best healing body piece for white mages in the entire game, dropped from selling for 12 MILLION, to around 300,000. Said tunic gave a 10% healing bonus on all cure spells.
People in FFXI were seriously anal about gear on people. If you were a white mage and didn't have a Nobles Tunic, the best Linkshells(equivalent of WOW's guils or STO's Fleets) wouldnt give you a second glance in terms of recruiting, and yet, for most people, like me, 12 million gil was impossible to get. And you needed these linkshells to do the end game content in FFXI.
But when the prices dropped, lots more people were able to get this "mandatory" piece of gear.

Just for the sake of conversation on STO economy: how exactly did Enix remove gold from game?
i dont see why you have to buy anything espec gear from the exchange, ever. just buy stuff with tokens from explorer, pvp or at endgame emblems. and people will sell for whatever people will buy for. if its to much its simply not bought.

They banned hundreds of suspected gil sellers and gil buyers.(There was an appeal process as some were wrongfully banned), either freezing or deleting the accounts they had. Thereby deleting alot of the ingame money that was floating around.
When then happened, people who were more honest began posting stuff on the auction house for much more reasonable prices.
Other things were implemented as well. Certain creatures, called Notorious Monsters, or NM's for short, would spawn once every few days, and maybe 5% of the time, drop an incredbily valueble piece of equipment. One of the most famous being a weapon called the Kraken Club. The problem with this, is that in Final Fantasy XI, when a monster is engaged by an individual or a group of people, nobody else can engage in combat with it. Therefore, whoever "claimed" the monster, would be the only ones with a shot at getting the drop.
I won't get into what it did here, but what Square Enix did, was move the item itself into a specific instanced battle, which still had a 5% drop, but let anyone claim it at any time, so long as you had the materials to enter the fight(its complicated). The original NM was still there, but what it now dropped could not be sold to anyone else, and was useless at max level anyways.

Square Enix did that with alot of items.
Ah I can imagine that, however I guess STO has very little number of goldsellers, so you can't just delete whole chunks of money.
The monster spawn seems actually pretty good idea - and as for the "tagging" - well, that's how WOW works too - it's fine to be quite honest, I like it more than the STO system.

In theory it was. But the problem with FFXI is the gil sellers figured out how to hack it. They would have bots - computer controlled characters - that could attack an enemy before it even finished appearing, giving the gil sellers a massive advantage when it came to claiming these monsters.
Sure, theres not as many EC sellers in STO. Getting credits is a hell of alot easier. All I was doing was pointing out the fact that allowing the community to self-regulate the economy is not always a good option.
I'm not rich by any means but I have more money then I need just by crafting the right things. I made 10 million yesterday and sold most the items I craft around 200.000 to 300.00 would sell the XI purple rare trace weapons for around 1 million if I had the traces some are hard to come by. it really just depends on who is willing to sell the lowest I always sell my stuff lower then anyone so I try to be carfull about what I craft.
I sell out in a few hours and go back to scanning its simple really the scanning gets mind numbing however but it pays off and now I got more money then I know what to do with I dont need money for my toons i got 6 VA fully purpled out toons whats to buy that I cannot find my self. so I just keep crafting and scanning and selling.
200.000 for a item on a the exchange is really a good deal depending on what it is for example I was selling 9 purple VIII captain phasers and 9 purple VIII duel heavy cannons for around 230.000 each and I sold out fast I did this for a week with defrent items that I notice that the exchange was short on and made around 33 million EC mind you like i stated earlyer I did nothing but scan for hours and build items, just becarful what you make some items dont sell as well and sell low and you'll always have money.
My problem is what to spend this money on ? I've got everything I could ever want. I just want to make one thing clear its not easy scanning all the time it gets boring but thats the price you pay for the EC you want to make.
P.S dont build aegus sets they sell for TRIBBLE
and sorry for the grammer and spelling hope my post helps.

Ah I see... yea such TRIBBLE was in WoW too. There was one PvP zone that had amazing mining nodes. What hackers did was they moved and mined them from underground. Bleh.
As a crafter, PVPer and Fleet Leader. I believe a lot of the exchance prices on most things need to be cut in half. Some of the prices are completely asinine. 2mil for a crafted Mk XI Antiproton Beam Array Very rare. Make it 800K and I'll buy it. That kind of thing.
In a way I wish Cryptic would expand the loot sets not just for crafting or drops or mission rewards but in general. I still can't find a [Hyper-Impulse Engine Mk XI [Turn]x2 [Aux]] for my star cruiser =[
it is long, but worth it, it takes about 2-3 hours of work in any "explore" cluster to get 250 of what ever particles the cluster specialises in....
My, tip, relax with a beer or alcoholic drink, listen to a ton of music, and slowly bit by bit collect ur samples till what ever number you want. (for crafters usually higher is better, as u can make more stuff in one visit to alpha)
What farming its that some people like not to do that at all ....
All the time being the fastest on the fleet to grab 5 pieces of junk is not my thing.
But if I encounter them on my way i will take them with me and sell them.
But still exchange is dreadful and doing all the time exploration with your Klingon is not real fun.
The new mission is fun rob the stuff but then again its so lame. Getting 5 pieces for all the shooting your doing .
If they would make it little more rewarding like getting 10 pieces or 10 traces for that Mather yes it would be worth while fighting for.
I don't know about you but it is a bit disappointing to do that.
Raid missions are not that well paid.
PVE they could made it bit more rewarding like ending a long mission you get 10.000 CR
and a short one like frozen 5.000 CR.
PVP also could use some juice waiting time is dreadful And when finishing you get 8 true 12 medal of something and if your lucky 10.000 CR
PVP Challenge doest pay medals nor CR and not give you skill points.
And drops are also worse then first year off the game.....
If you lucky you get bunch off hypo sprays shield recharge and power ups.
Or food in that Mather and I play most of the time in advanced mode.
So in this case its more trouble than it is worth.
And selling guns that's get you 5.500 CR and sell them for 1 million bucks well your not very friendly are you.
Slimy ferengi ....
I give them away most off the time o no you cant because their bound if you used them .
But i just like to say lower the prizes a little give someone else also an change .
Unless you are a ferengi don't mind what I said.
in short cooter, you want all the rewards for alot less work
but if that were to happen, everyone would have everything, and then wheres the sense of accomplishment that comes when you try hard for something and get it?
and if everyone had everything, than people would get bored and quit the game, and then voila, no more STO
to be honest you really dont need money in this game just farm emblums do the borg missions that stuff is like the best gear in the game. i dont see what the problem with the exchange is- if you dont like the price of items dont buy them simple as that.
Comments
Honestly, all Cooter posts have several points in common. Horrible broken english, stating the obvious and QQ about everything. Are you Azurian's pal?
Chill down mate. I am pretty sure Cryptic does the best they can. Be constructive. Offer solutions - something that would fix the situation.
It's not that hard, honestly. No offence.
I craft what I can for my ships.
If I get a drop I don't need, I'll either sell it on the exchange or sell it to my replicators(depending on the price it goes for on the exchange).
But what I don't do, is buy expensive stuff until I hit VA. As anything before that becomes obsolete anyways.
What makes it so annoying is there's NO OTHER WAY for a VA to get VR Bridge Officers.

Yeah I had a huge cold all week. Its pretty much gone now though. What are you doing while the server is patching?
but if that were to happen, everyone would have everything, and then wheres the sense of accomplishment that comes when you try hard for something and get it?

not much....just on the forums.........depending on how long this patch takes, I might go to bed soon.....
btw, u have mail:)
