The fight theme from "Amok Time" in the "Coliseum" episode was great!! Any chance you can add more music from the TV shows? I would love to hear the bass-based musaic from the same episode during my visits to Vulcan, or maybe even other recognizable music from TNG!! This was a great idea to include it.

Would it be perhaps too much to get music from "The Doomsday Machine" when "Doomsday Device" is remastered?

The music rights to specific scores do not automatically rest with CBS, and in many cases we have to work through CBS to get to the parent owner and negotiate to use it. While we absolutely would love to use music from the TV shows and movies, it can be challenging to get approval and a fee structure setup.

It won't stop us from trying though.

    Good stuff, Dan.

Hopefully next time there's some classic music, I won't turn the sound down and play my own.:p

I was a Broadcast Major in college so I know just how painful licensing music can be. So many people get a piece of the pie when someone hears it.

So, I'm wondering, is there a standard contract for that, or do you guys end up paying a couple fractions of a cent every time someone plays the mission and presumably hears the music? Or is it based on total game population? Or is it a flat fee?

I hope to see more. There were some really good scores in certain episodes, as well as most of the movies. I'd love more Trek music.

Thank you for the efforts made to bring Amok Time music into the game! I don't PvP but I think this music calls for a Kal-if-fee PvP map on Vulcan! And another melee only map at the Coliseum! So EPIC it might get pure PvE guys like me to join in.

I sincerely hope you do keep trying to get more canon music in the game. Getting the DS9 theme to play as you approach the station would be EPIC as well and it would go along great with any DS9 revamp that might be planned in the future. ;)

Actually redoing the score of the game would be enough. The standard STO score is pretty dismal to say the least.

Why not distribute the official tv-music through the c-store?

I would spend some atari points for getting new, fresh music to sto...may it be original music or new crpytic-made sci-fi-sound.

And i think, if you would distribute the official star trek music, chances are getting better to get approval to use them in your episodes...

Personally I don't think too many resources should be devoted to this -- it's more of a nice-to-have IMO. So if you never get to use any additional music, I'd be perfectly OK.

Having said that, when I did hear the music in the arena last Saturday...man, I got chills. It was AWESOME.

You beat me I was gonna say that. All the music from Best of Both Worlds would be great for Borg space and the missions there.

I would really like to see the soundtrack from episodes etc used, and then i'm not talking about the classic and obvious ones but the generic episode soundtrack which i think would just be perfect in STO. :D

Personally, I want "Red Alert" from first Contact, that would be cool for some sort of Borg Boss Battle. Also, WHY ISN'T THE KLINGON THEME FROM THE ORIGINAL MOVIE IN THE GAME?

It wouldn't have to be just TOS, but TNG, Voyager, etc. Basically only use them on familiar settings seen in those shows. It would be great if music form the movies could be used as well but I figure that is more difficult to get the license for.

If movie license was possible, this would be great when we are at ESD about to dock or leaving spacedock:

Some of the ideas in this thread are really good.

The Klingon music from TMP is a glaring omission. It's an iconic theme for Klingons and it needs to be played when they do something cool. Perhaps when they win a PVP match or when past B'Vat shows up in Night of the Comet.

I'd like the DS9 theme to play when you approach DS9.

Maybe the music from the end of "Call to Arms" could play when you approach Battle Group Omega? I think it's the closest to a joint KDF/Starfleet theme.

"Best of Both Worlds" in Borg space sounds good.

    this would be awesome :D
and if they do get it, can they get the part when the u.s.s. constitution flew into the doomsay machine and self destructed inside it? (i really loved that part; the series of long and increasingly loud DUH's, then the fast paced string of duh's, then the loud finishing DUH :))
perhaps they could put that part when you get within a certain distance of the doomsday machine (like the standard 10 km), and the first part that you mentioned can be as soon as we spot it :D
    what do you think?
