The ribbon was near Sol in 2293, and near Veridian III in 2371, 78 years later.
2371 to the in-game date of 2409 is 38 years.
So, we would have to wait another 40 in-game years till it returns...
...unless it passed through once more between those two dates, which would mean it's occurance would be half the time between those two dates, which means...
78 / 2 = 39
...It will be here next year.
So, either we wait 40 years, or next year. There you go, clear as mud.
The destruction of a few different planets could have altered its course a bit, as well.
That is true, we never did find out what effect Soran's path altering did other then getting it to direct it to that one planet, well, before Picard used the Nexus itself and changed that.
The Hobus supernova probably altered gravitational hoodoo across half the quadrant.
Truth be told though, I'm not sure what kind of story can be told with the ribbon other than rescuing ships/colonies in it's path, and averting crazed prior visitors from returning.
Hrm. I wonder what happend to Guinen, Picard, and the rest of the el-Aurian refugees...

Well, we know what happend to Picard, as for Guinen and the others, no, I don't ever think we find out what happened to them, with the exception of Guinen's minor role in Nemesis.

It would be cool if the Nexus ribbon appeared at the edge of our galactic map, and Starfleet informed us it was on a direct course for Earth. But, on it's way to Earth, it was going to threaten a number of other populated planets as well. We could have a series of weekly fleet actions where large groups of ships would be required to change the ribbon's course to save planets. Then, as the ribbon makes its approach to Earth, there could be one final massive fleet action to avert the ribbon or destroy it.

The question is though, how else could they change the course of the ribbon without needing to destroy more systems or such? Could that be possible?

Perhaps Starfleet creates some new technology based on Soren's research. Or maybe the KDF invents some of the technology and Starfleet invents some, and we'll have to work together.
It has the potential for a great story in a featured series....if they allow our characters to go in it that is. Infinite plot potential there; I didn't even like Generations, and I'm saying that.

That is true, especially since we're using technology that wasn't possible in the movies and such, so that might be possible.

Maybe for the final episode, it actually destroys Earth. And the only way we can go back in time to stop it is to go into the Nexus and ask for the help of a certain Starfleet captain...

Well, the ribbon doesn't actually destroy the planets, what did was the aftershock of the sun going super nova, though I still don't know if they'd want it hitting a planet since it does absorb people since from what I saw in Generations.

My take would be a bit different but I think it's a perfect place to work in a few canon characters without making it a direct Generations sequel.
My overall take would be that Troi is working wiith a scientific and engineering detail (perhaps with Barclay), which plans to study the Nexus from a safe distance. Klingons fire on the Starfleet vessel for being too close to their space, ignoring their warnings about the Nexus.
Both the Federation and Klingon vessel get swept up into the Nexus.
Feds work with Riker, Klingons work with Worf. The goal, ostensibly, would be to free the trapped ships.
But Riker has a side plan that if that doesn't work, he's going to steal one of your shuttles and ram himself into the Nexus to be reunited with Troi.
Perfect chance, IMHO, to give them a send-off. I think you could get Frakes and Sirtis reasonably and if you get one, the other will jump to do it. Having Worf get involved adds a certain amount of symmetry.
Being the Nexus, it isn't fully killing anyone off but you do get that satisfactory bit of closure that harkens back to a lot of Star Trek episodes with the doomed lovers cheating the rules to be together forever. And given Riker and Troi's ages in-game, I think that would beat any scenario where one of them dies without the other.
Meanwhile, Worf being present and the Klingon ship's involvement give the KDF a dog in the fight and also helps bring the story home for them since it's Worf's friends being affected.

This would be fun for us Excelsior captains. Since the missions come out on Saturdays, we can leave everything but our phasers and deflectors in the bank, and legitimately say half our crew and ship won't be here until Tuesday.

That's what I thought I read once around the forums.
generations was in 2371, and it comes around every 39.1 years. So it comes out in 2410.
I can't remember, what year is it in game now?

Just Ideas.
Maybe....maybe, the entire first year was in the nexus?
Gaah! That's right, they did give a specific date in the film. So, yeah, there you go.
Well, I was reminiscing about the old Starbase a few weeks back....

when you enter the Nexus the Foundry opens up?
It's Magic, but at the very least I'd kinda like to see it as an anomaly in Sector Space.
The question is though, how else could they change the course of the ribbon without needing to destroy more systems or such? Could that be possible?

Yeah, too bad we don't have a black-hole generating device or something...
...oh, wait.

It does sorta. There have been a couple people that calculated the stardates from their journals, and it's roughly 2410 to 2411.
Great idea for another voice-over.
