Since the game came out in 2010 and the year was said to be 2409 and now that its 2011, does that mean its now 2410? Sorry if this question has already been answered.
Yes and no. Do ot forget, that in most MMO games the time does not elapse as we know. The elapsed time is counted down by the height of the level and what missions you aready have proceeded.
So to speak, we need at least 20 but almost 30 years in game to advance from LT to VA.
It's 2409 until they say otherwise. 2410 marks the year the Nexus ribbon will reenter Federation space, so I'm hoping whenever they do advance the year, they'll do a series on that!

Not really. We are the results of battlefield promotions during a rough war. See Starship Troopers for examples, but that essentially is the whole point.

It says otherwise in-game, if you follow your mission log.

The mission logs only show stardates, and since stardates are a mathematical formula which varies depending on location in the galaxy, velocity of travel, and other factors, they can, and do, vary widely from episode to episode. Thus based on a stardate, there is no way to determine the year. Thus, the year is whatever they (The Devs) say it is, and the most recent official statement is that it is 2409.
From what I understand, the stardates in the game correspond to real time, so based on stardates, it's March of 2410. However, from what I hear, there is dialog in an STF (Khitomer Accord, haven't done it so I don't know) that mentions the Vega attack of "five years ago." There's also an interesting thought experiment in this thread: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=199656 - essentially, based on the time it takes to go from Earht to Vulcan in the game, versus how much time it took in the movies, you can come up with some calculations for in game time vs. real time.
Time passes in STO the same way it does in the Simpsons. Very little changes, no one gets older.
If you start a new character it is the year 2409, if you have been playing for a while it is probably 2411. The dates in the mission logs don't mean anything.
World of Warcraft can pull off having big changes and time passing, but Blizzard is a much bigger more competent company with better technology than Cryptic.
