TO MATT: Could you look at the Gorn crisis comic for your Gorn look?

Hey matt, your work on the Gorn is brilliant. He looks beautiful so far. I would personally hug you for the hard work you've put into it! I'm sure your now thinking about different types of clothing to add. Well no look no further.

The amazing graphic novel, The Gorn Crisis, has both great art work and great uniforms. The author developed their culture a lot and shows a logic behind their clothing. You really should read it if you haven't already.

Note: This is all from the author's dossier at the graphic novel's end.

Gorn warriors

They use colored bands around their necks to denote rank. from lowest rank to highest ( YellowOrangeRedPurple). I was thinking you could make this an unlock-able rank progression like player's Pips and bandoliers.

It also says that Gorn like to wear neck high clothing or armor, since slashing at the head or cutting the neck is the only way to definitely kill a Gorn. The Gorn can regenerate most other parts of the body. Gorn Warriors also have a tendency to prefer homemade clothing as mass production is to the lower classes.

They also have a thing for bright colors (reason for the colored ranks) because like reptiles and amphibians, they react to bright colors.

Here's the picture that explains a lot of the previous information:
A warrior's wardrobe

BTW: This is mostly for the clothing not the look, although it would be cool if you took some art for the new gorn;)

Picard has been captured by: the Borg, Cardassians, Q, Remans, Romulans, the unidentified aliens in TNG "Allegiance", the gang of trilithium resin thieves in TNG "Starship Mine"... shall I go on?

I definitely support this, or at least a concept of the uniform in the comic.

The staff reminds me an awful lot of Predator with the extendable blades...as does their armor. But slightly modified I think it would be a great option to equip your lizard man with.

I like this idea. I didn't like the gorn in Enterprise they were too sleek looking, the ones in the graphic novel look closer to the Gorn from Arena.

The IDW comics have a lot of designs I'd like to see, including a Stargazer-era uniform used by the last remnants of the Terran Empire, a TON of great Klingon designs, and more.

Beyond that, IDW has likeness rights for actors and I think an STO-era comic would be great for fleshing out the lore, both for characters not seen in game and the major players in our Featured Series.

I'd love to see Geordi have a run-in with Hakeev or Riker and Quinn go for drinks and get ambushed by B'Vat.

I absolutely love the Gorn Costume from the comic. It would be truly awesome if the Character Art team could create species clothing like this for them.

I'm sure Matt's team would love to do something like this but it boils down to him getting the budget to do it from the producers. So..... DStahl you have been summoned! :p

Stargazer uniforms? Now that's interesting. IDW has some very creative artists because most Star Trek comics from them I've read look amazingly good.

I do like the design of the armor, however I suspect that the Gorn specific clothing will be the armor you see NPC Gorn wearing right now. Since the Gorn update has already taken quite some time to turn out I wouldn't mind getting the NPC clothing now and creating this armor later.

I hate the current look of the Gorn in game now, so I'm hoping they will put the update out soon - I've got a Gorn toon just waiting for it. Definitely thumbs up to Matt for the job he did on them, the renders are exactly what I would expect of a warrior race of peeved reptiles.

I actually kind've like the current Gorn look and hope they keep it. However there is no question the new one is a mass improvement.

Matt said that they will try doing some new clothing along with the current NPC uniforms. So who knows what will happen unless he happens to spot and post in this thread.

I think the Mirror version was the Starbreaker. It was a more militaristic, non-sweater version of the WoK jacket with a high collar and Terran Empire badge.

The story was basically about Jack Crusher's death during a mutiny as the last remnant holdouts of the Empire faced the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance and how a young Jean-Luc Picard took command and ordered the crew to defy orders and turn tail for deep space, abandoning the Alpha Quadrant.

It might actually fit in with the rapid reconstruction of the Terran Empire in STO if we imagine a large chunk of the empire never really fell so much as they saw the tides turning and fled for the Delta and Gamma Quadrants, leaving the Empire defenseless in an attempt at self-preservation. Those crews could then come back with all kinds of wonderful secrets culled from the Dominion and the Krenim Imperium, among other sources.

I love this idea. I remember the Gorn in this book having a samurai-esque quality about them.
I thought it worked really well.

It would be cool if they could implement the claws into the melee system as maybe a bonus for Gorn characters.

I looked it over and was really impressed by the look. I actually would'nt mind seeing that uniform make it into STO to be completely honest:)

I wouldn't use those thieves as he completely pwned them and it was awesome, though everyone else though, yeah.

Don't mess with Picard! Also I, hate to admit it, I think that the only reason the Gorn in the comic captured him was because he was trying to come to a peaceful settlement.
