Can we see more insectoid playable races and creator parts?

I love the amount of customization in STO. The alien creator is one of the greatest for most games that I have played. However right now it is lacking. Not that much has been added since launch though, and there are a lot of assets that have since been made, that haven't been added.

We need Insectoids! We have only seen humanoids in game so far. Unfortunately, that is very Trek. However, you can never know how much I jumped for joy when I first saw the Xindi-insectoids in Enterprise.

We need two things. We need to see playable Xindi-insectoids for the Feds. This doesn't need really any new animations because as far as we know, they pretty much have similar statures and legs to humans.

Next we need insect parts added to the creator. Large, compound eyes, attanae, claws, etc........

Xindi-Insectoid councilor

Xindi-Insectoid captain

Xindi-insectoid hatchling only image showing they have two legs like humans

Insect captain TAS

Worf's insectoid holodeck opponent

unknown TAS insectoid article indicates this could be a Xindi-insectoid but there is no canon link.

i'd say we'll see them when/if we get the tholians, as they're pretty close, at least superficially.

Dunno... it's a long way from putting Tholians in the game to putting playable Tholians in the game, if you catch my drift. I'm totally for it, though.

I would also love to see insectoid races. The hardest part would be resisting the impulse to build my own Thranx. (non-ST reference)

I know what your saying, I was thinking similarly. However, they don't necessarily need to create new animations, just new parts.

I'm all for more non-humanoid aliens in STO and I believe dstahl has stated on several occassions that they are exploring that possibilty. They just need to get CBS on board with it, since it's CBS that owns the license.

No I would actually love new animations. I'm just saying that they probably would be more open to the idea if they could get it done faster.

People wanted the three jointed legs for Caitains so maybe the could do that tech for both Caitians and Insectoids.

I like the idea of Incetoids being in the game, but question Tholians in the current Star Fleet setup. There is no way a Tholian could be seen running around ESD or Quo'nos. Without some kind of Heat suit (opposite of the Breen cold suit), they would explode!!

I don't want my guy exploding every time I want to Beam down to access the exchange, or shipyard!

I was hoping to see the Xindi as a full faction one day but I agree, more unique alien groups would be nice. As for the Tholians, there has been enough canon mention of them being around Humans, enough to assume they have found a way to survive. Maybe some kind of personal shield with Life Support? Or perhaps some kind of coating to their crystal shell that reacts to the radiation they can produce?

I would love to be able to make all of the Xindi species as well as that one Avian species from the Path to 2409 that was discovered to have links to the extinct Xindi Avians.

Hey, I can understand why you don't want "bugs" in your game. ;)

But as far as non-humanoids go, insect species far outnumber any other (besides one-celled organisms). Why wouldn't there be at least one insectoid race out there in a Sci-Fi universe?

We certainly have enough of the reptilian/saurian types running around between the Gorn, the Saurians, and the reptilian Alien types.

Heck, I'd vote for even stranger lifeforms than that. Maybe not quite the diversity of a "Star Wars" type universe, since Trek has mostly not portrayed a lot of non-humanoid aliens. But more variety in alien parts would be more than welcome.

I'd love to see all Xindi races in the game. In the case of the Aquatics they don't have to be playable.

I'd also like to see the Selki from The Titian book series. Fish-people basically.
