Nice Suggestive Wallpaper, but How Did You Get the Vulcan Ears So Wrong?

Dear Cryptic,

I like the new wallpaper.

However, the Vulcan ears are completely wrong. Please fix. Other than that, I approve. I'm going to stare at it for awhile now before maybe exploring other parts of the internet.

Those ears are pretty terrible. She looks like an elf. But otherwise, a really cool wallpaper. Good art.

Another issue is the Vulcan's wound is red, not green.

Also, that wallpaper is pretty old, I thought.

Maybe she's like 1/4th Vulcan so has red blood. :p

Then she should should have christmas-colored blood :p

Also she's holding a TOS type-2 phaser pistol, which should fire a blue beam and not an orange one. And a Klingon getting the best of a Vulcan? Please...Vulcans are smarter and stronger than Klingons ;).

    Weird pin-up art.

    Only in Trek.

    C'mon, she's only (1849-1437) + (52 * 87) / 37579 percent Vulcan, so what can you expect? :D

Perhaps she's not Vulcan at all. Not all races with pointed ears are Vulcan. As for the eyebrows, one can't really confirm that they're pointed, so that's not a giveaway, either.

    Just puttin' that out there.

She was supposed to appear in Lord of the Rings, but walked onto the wrong set, and some prop master who was 2 vicodin and a shot of scotch in dressed her up and gave her a gun, then threw her in with the Klingon... once the totally one sided fight...

I'm not so sure they're fighting. I mean, the Velf may be fighting but I don't think the Klingon is. Unless this is part of the ground combat revamp and that's a new KDF melee maneuver - the Surprise Piggy Back Bat'leth Slash (the Special K?).

If I remember correctly..., The artist, around the time this popped up on the net (early 2008?), suggested that it was supposed to be a depiction of a Zero-G fight...

The K-Lady's hair and the Upward Direction of the V-Lady's ...ummm... chest... were the indicator's...

    ...supposedly...

Artist gets 15 points for imaginative bsing...

Gets four points for perviness... for having the 'TRIBBLE' rise but not have zero g globs of blood...

Yeah I was wondering about that phaser. Granted right now we have ships, uniforms and weapons from different eras in the game, but considering this is an old wallpaper I can't imagine why the artist would have thrown a TOS type 2 into an image that is supposed to be 25th century considering the uniform.

Then again it is pretty obvious that the artist wasn't a big time trekker otherwise he would not have messed up the other things (the ears and red blood, plus the missing floating blood drops for zero G), so it probably was just due to thinking the TOS one was cooler and more "gun" looking.

Ok...why is anyone here looking at ears and eyebrows and blood...in that picture there are only a few handfuls of things to really look at...like...uh...that ship in the background...yeah...

Fail Cryptic. Give your artist a mandatory job of watching TOS, TNG, and DS9 at least. I'm a graphics artist in training and even my amateur eye can spot a lot of problems.

    Issues with the wallpaper
    - SUBJECTIVE ART QUALITY: Too large a disparity in sharpness between ship, planet background, and the foreground fight. Its as if someone copy-pasted the ship model on a low-resolution space background, made it look like it was drawn in, then drew in the vulcan vs klingon fight.

    - SHIP INNACCURACIES: Why are there blue warp trails but no impulse red trails? This also lacks windows as the ingame model has on the underside of the saucer section.

    - VULCAN INNACURACIES: First off, wtf ears, and secondly, their blood chemistry is copper-based, thus they should bleed and bruise in a green tint, instead of our iron-based blood red. Also, she's wearing a non-standard science kit, if that is even a science kit on a science officer to begin with.

    - KLINGON INNACURACIES: Where are her ears? I barely see a hint of it on the right side, I dont see any hint of it on the left. What, did the ear slider slide waaay into the Vulcan when this was made? She's also not wearing the usual military-style uniform many, many, MANY Klingons wear. Heck, it would be more accurate if she wore something as risque as what the Duras' sisters wore.

    - TOS-STYLE PHASER 2 IN 2410: First off, as much as it would still make sense to use such a weapon since its still viable, its far from standard issue. Also, the Trek fandom know TNG more now than TOS, so it makes more marketing sense to have her hold a TNG-style phaser instead of a Phaser2 from TOS era. Secondly, the actual weapon shows innacuracies as well. Emitter isnt centered. Handle and rear body length is too long. Its as if we're looking at a very small Vulcan, barely 4ft in height, holding a gun that's too big for her hands. It makes the Klingon fighting her a 5ft tall Klingon, and I dont know about you all, thats also short for a Klingon female. Because of that, it looks like she's holding a size-reduced bat'leth for her small stature.

I'm sorry Cryptic, I can only give you 2 unimpressed fans out of 5.

The test of courage comes when we are in the minority. The test of tolerance comes when we are in the majority. ~Ralph W. Sockman

EDIT=now for my witch side. That also means, IF your fleet had any strength (majority) than tolerance would be a virtue and act of honor. IF your fleet mattered (minority) courage would be standing up for more than ego, but hey, read what you want into it and live your life as hard as you think you are. My tolerance allows me to laugh myself to sleep at your post.;)

They'd also be a lot less worried about her ears if they noticed that she has one A-cup and the other pushing a double-D.

Perhaps those Klingon and Velv have an intime relationship that involves hurting each other a lot.
