Yeah, the smallest option really isn't quite small enough. However, I think a dev may have mentioned why this is once.
I believe the dev said that it's to make sure characters look like adults. The same is true for the male character's always present 5 o'clock shadow. Something to do with maintaining the ESRB rating, as the ESRB doesn't want teenage looking characters out there killing aliens and potentially being killed themselves.
*loads shotgun* you want to go left?! :O but... The right way knows all :O

I think its mainly the latter... Cant remember what its called... Half life 2 was origionally going to have children in it... but they were cut.
Yup but at least the default was toned down some. At launch it was maxed out at character creation, now it is a smidgen under half way. Now if Crpytic could get the nipples pointing the right way so all these daisy dairies aren't looking like they could double as bookends.

oh... well i suppose i could understand that even if i dont necessarily agree...
I support allowing the slider to go further left, one of my Bofs is actually supposed to be from a race that matures physically much slower than others so it looks odd having a stacked teen-age looking girl running about.
I'd also support letting the slider go further right.... in the interest of fairness of course!
You know, I hadn't even noticed this. Apparently I need to go take a closer look
Hard not to notice. Stand around ESD for 30 seconds and when one walks by notice how they go 90 degrees from each other. It's like looking at a bad job when they first started around Hollywood.
What does that have to do with chest size, I have friends in there mid-20s who are pretty......not in that area.
Yes, there are adult women with small chests. However, say someone in game gives a character the most youthful looking face, makes her like 5 feet tall, and makes them as flat as a 10 year old boy, well, you can see how that character would look like a young pre-teen or teenage girl, even though there are 5 foot tall, flat as a board women.
Wait wait, this whole thread is about arguing for SMALLER TRIBBLE? WTF is wrong with you guys
When I upgraded to an Nvidia GTX 470 last week, the other night, I finally noticed my Bolian had a 5 o clock shadow on closer look. I thought to myself, well, thats odd, I dont remember adding that option. Its fine on my main character, because he's supposed to be me anyways, and me always run around with 5 o clock shadow, lol.
I fully support STO's rule about keeing A cups out of the game, lol.
I believe the dev said that it's to make sure characters look like adults.
LOL... I'm thinking that's just an excuse to maintain the stereotype of buxom female characters in video games :P
I seriously hope the ESRB does not have a minimum bust size requirement for representations of females in video games. And if they do, I'd really like to see that in writing from the ESRB and find out exactly what size constitutes an "adult" versus "minor". Granted Tomb Raider is still one of my all time favorite video games but I honestly hope it also didn't establish the rules for representing the female physique in video games.
Given the vast configuration options available in the rest of the character creator, I think it's reasonable to ask for the scale go from say, 0-100 with 100 being the current max and 0 being for an androgynous species of "aliens".
I agree the slider should be able to go further both ways; not for fairness' sake but because it should. I personally believe people should be able to do what they want with their characters. If they want to pilot the ship with a bunch of chibby cherubs then by all means, if they want to pilot their ship with unrealistic supermodels so be it.
I remember I had a toon in City of Heroes who was designed to look like a teenage boy. I made him that way since I like the Teen Titans and unlike most people I dont think teenage heroes are TRIBBLE, maybe very unrealistic but not a dumb idea. I remember it was very easy to do in CoH and I think if I remember correctly it was pretty easy to do in Champs. I dont see what the diffrence is for Star Trek. I mean I assume the age to join Star Fleet acadamy is around 16 or 18 just like real navies, Nog comes to mind. Granted Star Fleet probably has some other form of generally accepted enterence qualifications for species that mature slower or are just plain not humanoid, but since all the playable races are humanoid I dont see a real problem.
Also I am really tired of my toon not being able to find a razor in the 25th century.
I don't see why we should be limited to the current maximum. You can see larger busts in humans, and who knows what kind of aliens are out there. What about alien species with three or more TRIBBLE? The Alien creator should have those options too.

I don't know about making the bust size any bigger than it is now, but you bring up an excellent point about 3 breasted women. There was a mention of 3 breasted women in the first Enterprise episode, where Trip asks Travis if a certain species really had 3 TRIBBLE, and Travis confirmed that they did.

Alas, I doubt we'll ever seen this, since I imagine the art team would have to redo every costume for three TRIBBLE. Too bad, that would be a heck of a selling point.

I understand what you are trying to point out, yet I would argue this is Star Trek. There are plenty of "strange new worlds" out there where aliens that are hundreds of Earth years old could look like children... Balok for example.

I agree, it's very unlikely, but it would have been interesting. I really wish they had done some major improvements to the character creator before they made so many uniforms that it became to much of a hassle to change them all.
They really needed to add the following, but it's pretty much too late now:
A butt size slider
A slider for changing waist width (On females, there isn't really a way to make the waist wider, as increasing the stomach size makes them look pregnant)
Better options for making characters look overweight. The current set-up is better for making females look pregnant, than for making characters look overweight. (Before anyone says that Starfleet is a military organization and that characters should be fit, go look at a picture of Scotty from the later TOS era movies)

I did see an alien CPT the other day in ESD who has only as tall as me when he? stood on the vendor's desk @ the BO trainer.

I agree. I was just pointing out what someone said about the ESRB. I can't be sure, because it was back at launch, but we were talking about smaller bust sizes and someone brought up the ESRB concern, and I seem to remember it being a dev.
I think there was a slightly chubby Bolian in the Voyager series too. I remember one episode where they were making him run laps around the ship and he kept running out of breath.
Yes, because not all of us agree with Sir Mix-a-Lot, he makes a good argument and I will fight for this right to make the argument. How ever I disagree.
I'm strongly in favor of this. I also wish I could disagree that women can only look pregnant if you try to make them overweight at all. Look, some of my boffs sit on the bridge all day, they're bound to have a little bit of a larger tush...

I have never thought of a butt size slider.... I also agree now that it is needed. MORE DIVERSITY! Keep those ideas a come'n.
On that note I would like the ability to do something with the cheekbones, they are just stuck that way more or less.

I agree on the cheek bones. Here's a list of facial changes that they need to make to the character creator:
Slider for Nose width (currently you can make the nostrils and bridge wider, but the middle of the nose stays the same size)
A slider that would allow you to give the nose a more hooked shape (or perhaps add it in as a nose type in the nose detail section)
Slider for upper jaw line (currently, characters look gaunt and the cheek size slider only helps but so much)
Slider for eye depth
Slider for mouth shape (angle down or up)
Slider for eyebrow height
Multi-eye color variants (currently only solid colors are possible, personally, my eyes are hazel, I have a greenish brown color, but there are flecks of blue, I'd like to be able to simulate this)
Ability to have two different colored eyes (heterochromia)

I'd like to have a "no" option for bust-size so I can switch them off entirely. At least put it on Alien, Saurian, Gorn, and other non-mammalian races...

yup I second the motion for all these items.
Just sayin'...
