Well, I'm in an interesting dilemma ...
A fleet mate went in to do Coliseum and overshot the derelict after scanning the satellite for the first time. The satellite hit him with the purple tractor beam at 8km from the derelict, so he couldn't scan it to progress. I teamed up with him to try getting him out of there and no luck. We both dropped the mission, even logged out, and came back. Guess what? Now we were both tractor-beamed at 18.6km!!! He left team and got the "leave map now" prompt, and I didn't. We tried it several times and found that whomever's the team leader will be stuck there.
We then proceeded with him doing the mission, shutting down the satellite - even re-targeted the derelict as the main target - after I re-team'd with him - and nothing. He was able to continue with the mission and I wasn't. I've submitted a ticket, but I have a bad feeling it'll be some time before I get an answer.
Any ideas on how to get the hell out of here? Any help would be very much appreciated.

You have to stay logged out for more than 5 minutes for your map-instance to time-out and close. When you log back in you end up in sector space.
(Be generous when you time that 5 minutes, because relogging before that will reset that timer)
We recently made a change that shaves this down to 1 minute. So if you warp back to sector space, you should be able to come right back in quickly and have the map "reset".

Is this true for "logging out within System Space" too? Or only if you can leave System Space and get into Sector Space?
The problem people have been having is that the Station's Disabling Beam keeps you in combat and being so far out, you're unable to do anything but log out. While in combat you can't leave the system.

Still at work, Sir?
Will this apply 'just' to this mission, or is this going to become the norm (for all maps, where similar types of situations might occur)?
Oh, and when you next see snix this week, let him know that my Fleetmate that had the opportunity to run the mission with him had a blast, and really appreciated the opportunity to do so.
Send him my thanks, as well, for being so open and approachable in-game (we started talking a little bit after meeting him in a PvP Match, which is how he ended up running the Mission with one of our Members)... It's just one of many, many things that illustrate how great your entire Dev team is, and we want you all to know how much it is appreciated!

P.S. We'd love the opportunity to run with you or any other Member of the Dev team, when the new Mission launches next week!

I also seem to be stuck by the beam. I've tried logging out and waiting, I've tried dropping the mission... but every time I log back in I am still in the Nopada System with that blinking beam trapping me. Dan, I see your tip about using safe login - how do I do this? I cannot see a button or option to do this. Sorry to sound noobish but can you or anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Tried logging in again and am now free of the beam!

I got hit by the beam and cant move or doing anything. no option are available. i keep loging in and same thing.

Thank you, Mr. Stahl!!! It is the direct involvement of yourself, and every member of your dev team, that makes me glad I took the plunge and bought a lifetime subscription.
Not sure what the hell I did wrong, but getting locked down at 7.75 km with no way to escape except resetting the map is not fun. Bad mission. No soup for you, one year.

Ahh okay, I found a loophole
I also had trouble with the Scan satellite portion of Mesmerizing Monolith. So I logged out of the game entirely, waited, and then logged back in.
I continued in sector space and restarted the mission. I recommend going full impulse at the satellite and the derelict. At 4.25 km away (while trapped by the tractor beam) I got the dialogue window that says: "Captain, we're stuck! This beam is holding us like a fly in a spider's web. ..."
That will let you transport over to the satellite.
Charles and Kurt, you guys really should re-examine the radius at which that last dialogue would pop up. It should be the same radius as when the tractor beam holds the player ship.

The problem is that the dialog option for scanning the satellite won't become available until you are within 6km of the satellite. However, the satellite disabling beam range is 10km (or greater) and engages immediately following your scan of the derelict. If you get stuck, logout of the game for 5 minutes to let the map reset. After you log back in, close to 6km or less with the satellite before scanning the derelict.

That happened to me the first time I did the mission....
I tried rotating my ship and found that the back-end of my Nacelles was just close enough to trigger the dialog popup.
But for a few moments I was really ****ed(annoyed), cause I thought I was gonna have to leave the game and sign back in.

A dev helped me, log out, wait 7 minutes and log back in and it should kick you back to sector space.
Good hunting ...
I might hold you to that, I like a nice Saurian Brand or a big stine of Bloodwine (2309, there is no finer vintage)!
And I hear Quarks has Vulcan Love Slave III!
As Homer Simpson would say, "Mmmmmmmmmmmm ...... Vulcan love slave ......gaaaaghahghaaaagh!"

yes if you choose safe login.
Well, I guess you could say its range....
*puts on sunglasses*
...was over 9000.
Thanks in advance.
