if you have an eta please post at least the month you looking at. i do know you said like 5 going to try to put out this year.

I think the next 2 - 3 months will be epic for STO. Between This weekly series, The Foundry coming in a few weeks (or sooner ;) ), Season 4, Remastered Episodes and a new weekly... geez I gotta set aside alot of time to play STO.

    Great work Cryptic!

Im inclined to agree with quack. Series 3 has today and next week to go. That puts the end of this series early march. The time gap between series 2 and 3 was a couple of months. I don't see series 4 before stacked behind 3 at the time. Especially with ground combat changes and everything else they want to do with season 4. I believe they will wait till just after season 4 hits so the new series can reflect the new changes to the game.

This is what it is looking like right now... but we haven't officially decided yet. We know what Series 4 will be and have an outline for some of the things we want to do (in fact we're reviewing our plans for the entire year next week)... so we will definitely get to this, but it may come right on the heels of season 4 so it can take advantage of cool new stuff.

Between March and May we'll be doing some other fun content things - some of it Foundry related, some of it Remastered, and some of it Feature Episode Re-runs. So lots to do!

Any plans for Gary Seven to make any cameos? :3

New content's always a good thing :) Any chance of those Foundry missions being fully integrated into the game? Seems such a waste not to with some of them

guess i was (maybe) wrong. i do hope they decide to squeeze series 4 in before season 4 (curse these similar title names) but if they dont that is a significant gap between series 3 and 4. a few people wont be happy about that, so brace yourself for some forum rage.

if my vote counts for anything i would prefer to see series 4 before season 4 even if we dont get the benefit of season 4 code.

if they dont then i would at least hope they can go into overdrive with remastered episodes. i would imagine remastering is a heck of a lot easier than building one from scratch.

Series 2 to series 3 was what, October/November to Feb. That is 3 months right there, so 3 months from March would be June which is also season 4 time frame. From end of May till Season 4 at the end of June, they will be heavy into everything season 4 to make sure it works properly. Granted they may start making the stories during that time frame but it would only be the 1st and maybe the 2nd episode ready.

The forum rage will always be here. You cannot satisfy 100 percent of your customers all the time. The bright side is the other content they plan to release during this time should limit the rage about the series being so far off.

Im curious how long the remastering took? I don't remember seeing a time table it took Gozer to get that episode re done from the moment he started till it ended. Internally cryptic knows how long it takes and what would be required to do all the missions over. If I recall from a Dev post a month or so ago, the older episodes are different code then the newer episodes use, so I would figure it takes gozer a little bit to get the code changed over and then add in the other bonuses and get the graphics people to update the visuals.

I for one would like to hold off on series 4 so that I can re run the devidian series and get the Cane on my alts that I have made after the cane was locked.

Aside from the question when Series 4 comes out... What do you think will it be about?

Iconians? The Mirror Universe? A Federation splinter faction?

Iconians will have their own story line once we get Rank raise to Fleet Admiral. I wouldn't want them to throw spoilers out before then.

I feel there is a trend going on that they are doing the series now to upgrade certain factions. My guess is something in Beta Ursae with either the Cardassins , Jem hadar or Terran empire (not so much on this one).

I would be lying if I didn't say I was disappointed, I expected a month or so between series because they have been that good but the prospects of waiting to around June seems is way longer than I would of hoped.

I know that your team has a lot of things that need to be done to prepare for Season 4, but the current rate of content has satisfied me better than any other MMO's I've played and what I think sets this game apart. Just the explosion in numbers of players around lately has be incredible to see, and perhaps the weekly content releases have been a strong pull for that?

I would really like to see filler episodes released even if they don't add any new technology to the game or move along the main story arc any, at least we would have something to look forward to in the near future between series 3 and Season 4. I know you have said there will be adding in content but will it be in a weekly basis?

I look forward to see what exciting new stuff you have planned, you have exceeded my original expectations of this game by along shot.

Well, I understand your reasoning, but I am disappointed. You've been saying the goal was to have five featured series this year, but I can't see how this will happen. From the sounds of it, we'll get one featured series in the first six months of the year. Given that these run about five weeks with at least two weeks between series (and lately more), and now it sounds like the next one won't be until June or July (or later as the featured episodes seem to be delayed when there is a new season on the verge of release), it appears that we won't see more than three featured series this year.

The foundry is great, and I don't mean to belittle the accomplishments of the players making the missions, but they lack the polish and effects that the missions the developers make. I can't help but feel like the Devs are relying on the players to make new content.

I'm looking forward to new missions and content. The featured episodes are what I primarily log in for. I'm hoping that we can get more new missions.

I honestly believe the Foundry will ease the time between series runs ... when it goes live on Holodeck that is.

THAT will be a very happy day!

This is what I was thinking. Last time the long delay was due to the work on Season 3, this time it will be due to Season 4. So it sounds like we're only going to be getting 1 series per Season now. I really hope that isnt the case.

I gotta agree. I am disappointed that we may have to wait so long for the next set of weeklies. But I can understand wanting to bring them out when Season 4 hits to work in the new stuff being added in. But ah well....Episode Reruns..I can score a Breen BO for one my alts then. So that's good.

Supposedly, there are going to be 5 a year. Season 5 isn't until January or February next year I think. That should mean they'll have the time to get 3 more in between June and December.

I'm beginning to think that is what is going to happen. I don't see more than one more season hitting this year based on comments made by dstahl, so I'm beginning to think we'll get one more feature series this year. I hope I'm wrong.

And none of this is to belittle the work done by the Devs. I understand they have a small team. What has been released has been pretty cool. However, I look forward to the day when they are no longer redoing parts of this game (sector space, ESD, Qo'nos, remastered episodes, ground combat, gorn customization, etc.) and focus more on new missions, sectors, enemies, etc., in other words new playable content.

I think "should" is the right word. However, there will be what, six months between season 3 and season 4, and it appears we are only getting one featured series in that time period. Something is going to have to change in order to make it possible to get more featured series out. Hopefully, the work on the foundry has been the hold up and once it is out, they'll have more time. But, I suspect that in the last half of the year, it'll be something else. They have a small team and only so many resources to go around.

It seems, based on the list of what's supposed to be going into Season 4 that I'm looking at right now, that Season 4 has a lot more going into it than any of the previous Seasons (except for maybe Season 2). Maybe since this Season has so much going into it, it'll be the only one they need a break for? If Season 5 isn't comign out until January or February it's not out of the realm of possibility to expect a schedule like this:

    Series 4: June 25-July 23
    Series 5: August 20-Septmeber 17
    Series 6: October 15-November 12
    Series 7: December 10-January 7

Of course they'll only be able to put them out that fast if Season 5 is light on features.

We'll see. I'd love to see that, but I think that is ambitious. In the past, all the features haven't been ready when a season was released. I won't be surprised if parts of Season 4 trickle out over the last half of the year.

I don't see them starting a series during December. I recall the Dev team taking time off for the holidays this past year (and I can't blame them for that) right after Season 3 went live. I suspect they'll do the same thing this year, and I suspect they won't be working on a feature series that close to a new Season going live.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think it is starting to look like we'll see only two feature series in the second half of this year. Granted, the delay dstahl mentioned for the next series was so that they could incorporate the new ground combat in the next series, and we don't know of any thing that is going in to Season 5 that might create another similar delay. However, given that they want to redo DSEs, nuke Kerrat, and something different with exploration sectors, I can see feature episodes getting pushed aside.

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but I'm constantly adjusting my expectations. What the Devs put out is quality work IMO. Right now, they are really focused on changing the game to what the envisioned when it was released (see the new ESD, upcoming new Qo'nos, new ship skins we have been getting, new sector space, upcoming ground combat revamp, new DSEs, new exploration missions, new Gorn models, etc.). I'm hoping that sometime soon, hopefully by the end of the year, they are done revamping the current game and are concentrating on new things (like the duty officer system, the first officer system with promotions to Captain, more featured episodes, new space sectors, increased level cap, new skills, more new ships, etc.).

If they plan on getting in 10 series a year, and they put in a month break between each series. And each series is, let's say, 4 episodes on average. They won't even come close to meeting thier goal.

Yeah. 5 this year may not be feasible due to the team likely wanting december off. I'd be fine with 3 or 4 this year as long as they can actually meet their original goal of 5 next year. Especially since we'll be getting a flood of new foundry missions soon and it appears that some of the devs are creating foundry missions as well.
