Pretty certain I'll be using ToS interior judging from that it doesn't look like it's designed for 10m tall people, just 5m tall people :p.

I definitely like it. It reminds me of the Intrepid's mess hall, with the way the wall curves:

    Hmm...

Looks like it's got a bit too much of a 'Ten-Forward' vibe, with those windows.

Just re-watched 'Charlie X' to double-check, and I'm pretty sure those areas should just be bulkheads - correct me if I'm wrong! ;)

[EDIT] - Yep, found a decent screencap at TrekCore - those definately aren't windows... And the general shape of the room looks a bit 'off' to my eye.

completely agree, which is probably why i like it :p. I personally can't wait until they make the voyager interiors. I will be buying those for sure.

Same. They definitely need to do Intrepid and Defiant interior packs (Defiants a priority because the current rooms and layout really don't make since for the Defiant). I'd also like to see Galaxy, Sovereign, and Constitution refir packs eventually.

Because who wants to look at a blank wall while eating when you can look out a window? I know I prefer a view of some stars.

    There were definitely no windows.

I feel so bad for the designers since we Original Series fans are just so nit-picky:p

the nx had windows btw... i think this might be a case where you only saw half the room and we have extrapolated that every other mess hall that had a budget had windows - but who knows maybe we have more reference out there to analyze to death.

Well they're are differences between each Connie ship anyway and perhaps this is just one variant of them.

Or a different room than the one seen in the Original Series. I'm sure they're was more than just that little lounge for a crew of 400.

And I don't remember any shots which precluded the windows from being there. You can see the curvature which might suggest a window in the picture I supplied.

I did kinda expect a wall replicator, that panel layout, and tables to be arranged more cafeteria style.

Windows are insane on a space ship but it's not like TV scifi strives for accuracy (having FTL is plain required, so science and sense can be ignored there, but windows?). Really what you could have is cameras and huge flat screens on the walls.

I so wish I could remove the windows from my ships in this game.

I do second the call for a Defiant interior.

Oh. I can see the wall replicator now.

I think the lighting was what threw me. Nice work.

Yes i see that curvature as well in the top left corner. Looks like there would be a window there

Well I'm not really eating there. What I want is to see an interior representing as closely as possible what we sawin TOS. And besides, Kirk and the gang had no problem with it.

We saw the lounge several time throughout the series, multiple angles too. So there is enough reference too it. I mean, I was able to figure it out.

Don't get me wrong, it looks nice. Just not what I was expecting for an interior based off of what we saw in TOS.

Technically, there was one ship from a show that had the budget for windows, that still wasn't designed with them, the defiant, but that was only becuase it was a warship. It had what appeared to be metal plates over the windows. I hope you do leave out the windows when and if you make a Defiant Interior pack, since it is a warship. Here's the pic of the Defiant's mess hall:

Windows aren't super strong glass windows, they're just translucent hull plates.

From what I remember the Observation Room on the Cosnitution was supposed to be those set of lights located in the rear right (5 O'clock position) on the Saucer. Which we saw in TMP.

Well, it's not like the windows are made of glass. They are made of metal, transparent aluminum, but admittedly, they would still be a bit of a hazard compared to a strong metal hull.

Good. The properly sized lounge should silence the "OMG! Why are rooms so big!" group.

    Transparent Aluminium, actually (http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Transparent_aluminum) :P

Capable of withstanding tremendous pressure, at a drastically reduced thickness requirement. To this day, I wonder why the Generations Enterprise-D wasn't equipped with Transparent Aluminum windows (despite the fact that the SAME ship had those windows 3 years prior), since every single saucer window appeared to break when the ship plowed through the Veridian planet.

In regards to the lounge, just because it's suppose to be a "TOS Interior" set, doesn't mean it has to be the "TOS Enterprise" set. And just because we never saw "Mess Hall" windows, doesn't mean the ship didn't have it, or that other ships of similar design didn't have them. Lighten up people.

I figured the excuse for them would be along those lines, but I'm still doubting you could have something like that as tough as the rest of the hull, and if visible light can go through maybe that could be dangerous if shields go down in battle with radiation and such, eh w/e it's tv sci fi.

Also I completely forgot about transparent aluminium thing from Trek 3, still don't think it's a good idea though for above reasons.

IMO there's a way to please both the canon purists and those that like windows at the same time. Of course it means adding some "functionality" (*hiss*) to the interior. :p

Have there be bulkheads by default, but include a wall panel which allows players to retract the bulkheads and allowing the crew to see out. There's absolutely no suggestion in TOS why this couldn't have been the case.
