Some of my fleetmates and I were talking last night, trying to think what the end game content might be later. How would this story end? We thought that it would be sweet to bring V'ger back.
Now I know V'ger is like the red headed stepchild of Star Trek movie villains but we thought it would look epic if you used the same design you use for the badlands to make the cloud structure. Also, people have wanted to know what happened to it and Capt. Decker after TMP ended. My thought, the "demons of air and darkness" ran upon it and corrupted Decker and V'ger for their own purposes. Just a thought.
So dstahl, I know you might like this idea, given what your avatar picture is and I know you and the devs read these so let us know of this idea and if anyone else want to chime in, please do so. Live long and prosper.
Make a good episode in the Foundry, how about contact with the machine planet that fixed up vger and sent it home. Make the borg look like tribbles, 100% machine intelligence.
78 km of cold logic and plasma bolts that can erase a starship or the surface of a planet in seconds, and that's a fraction of its power. It had the kid gloves on when it erased the Klingon ships and almost did the same to the Enterprise.
that is why I said "this time let the feds go first".
That'd be for the best. The Klinks thought they could deal with an energy cloud that's 300 million km accross with a godlike alien ship inside that can lay waste to planets with ease... by firing some torpedoes into it.
It's surprising that the Klingon empire has lasted this long when you realise their first idea of how to take down a godlike being would probably be with a headbutt.
Would make for an interesting story to see the return of V'Ger. Keep in mind, V'Ger would not be a huge machine ship anymore since it merged with Will Decker.

How do you know that? Maybe it just shifted to a different dimension. The original movie plan was to have it sprout wings like a giant space butterfly or something before going somewhere else outside the known universe. It could come back in some form of ship or another that looks like it did in the movie.
When Jkirk and I were talking we figured the mission could go something like this...
You get hailed by Starfleet to investigate some strange readings in the Sirius Sector.
You arrive and a cut scene shows up with some ships in front of the V'Ger cloud getting shot and evaporated into space. (Similar to the movie)
You are hailed by V'ger Decker where he outlines his plans to destroy SOL. (This would be due to the corruption of the Iconians or something uber epic.)
This would then spawn a diplomatic mission where you have to convince the V'Ger Decker to not destroy SOL, some epic battles ensue when some Iconian ships show up to try and stop you, and you get to go back to the V'Ger device to prove humanity is worth saving.
Would make a pretty sick episode. If the Foundry has the tools to create something cool like this I'd be interested in making it, but seeing as V'Ger is more of custom thing I think the good folks at Cryptic would have to design it.
Just some uber thoughts we had last night. We would love to see more epic antagonists like V'Ger in game.
Robenbery said that "v'ger probably met wet the borg" and since then, it is canon.
Roddenberry's words are not canon; Only what we see on the TV and movie screen that is Star Trek is canon, so please stop spreading falsehoods and misinformation.
My point is if Cryptic wants to bring Vger back, they can decide how to do it. If they want to recreate the Vger ship, they can come up with a good explanation as to why it's still a ship and not something else and that should be fine for everyone.

Well, the one problem I have with OP's idea is that "soft canon" has V'ger being one of the initial Borg, so it might make more sense to follow a storyline going that way.
The V'Ger/Decker/(Ilia) being transcended this universe and moved on to another dimension. Sorry, one way ticket with no return trip available. Perhaps it is possible to follow. Try merging with your vacuum cleaner, or perhaps a toaster oven.

V'Ger the ship was destroyed when that happened wasn't it. Who knows, there may be a bigger version out there somewhere.
Now seriously, dstahl, is there anyway that this can be done? Or are there plans already? hint hint, nudge nudge
This isn't the first time it has been mentioned where a cryptic employee has mentioned or responded specifically something about V'Ger in the positive light.
Ergo, i can surmise that it is 'in the pipe' or someone wants it 'in the pipe'. Either way at one point it will be 'in the pipe'.
But this time the feds go in first.
I am completely shocked that Dan responded to a V'ger thread. I would very much like to see a follow on episode to what happened at the end TMP. With that said does that mean we can ignore the idea of V'ger=progenitor of the Borg(which I would say is canon since First Contact had the Borg trying to contact the 22nd century Borg) What would happen if V'ger encounter the Borg or the Undine, or even Klingons who probably still consider it an enemy for the destruction of a Klingon battle group?

Against this?

so its half biological and half technical :O
If V'ger has watched Skyline.... were screwed....

Or they could make him human sized
I APPROVE!!

THE VAULT WAS JUST THE BEGINNING!!!!
