SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
...i remember dStahl writing something about a Crafting Quest *or something* in the third week of the Series.

As of yet the Detla Flyer is C-Store exclusive and if something else was said about it i might have missed it?

so... uhm what's the plan?

*just asking.

Most likely by the time it becomes less exclusive on the Cstore.

They have to make a profit guys. Relax.

This is on the schedule, and we will get it in as soon along with other additions to craftable items in Memory Alpha. I'm waiting on a few last items so I can put them all in at once.

Awesome! Any hope of Mk XII items being in this update? (Or perhaps the Fed and Klingon fighters that were mentioned a while ago?)

    more items is good

id like to see mk XII
more sets of items, ground and space
    fighters
items with unique stats (ie something different to the usual crit, acc, etc)
maybe even some unique consoles in the same mould as the borg console.

just to expand the flavour of our customization.

Why not open up Utopia Planitia shipyards as the crafting location for the Delta Flyer? :)
After all, the map itself does already exist since Klingon players get to go on a raid there.

Cool. Will the Psi Valorum sector be getting some new Daily missions that we VA1s can get Emblems from too, around the time the Delta Flyer Crafting stuff goes in.? (I hope, I hope, I hope!:D;))

Yeah I was sad to see we still don't have any dailies in. Didn't we already have one or two by Episode 3 in the last two FEs?

I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that grinding for parts and constructing a flyer after (probably) a week+ of daily work is so much harder than buying one that is unlocked on every character on an account.

So either spend weeks grinding on all your characters or just pay 400 Tokens for it for every character...the people who just want it on one character aren't gonna buy it knowing they can craft it later. Heck if anything once people see how much work it'll take to craft one for one character they may be more likely to buy it once for all characters instead.

So potentially the delay is actually costing them money since anyone that wants it for ALL their characters and is initially willing to buy it instead of waiting to craft it has almost certainly done so by now.

This is why the C-Store, in any game, is a huge waste of time. They spend more time trying to milk the player base then actually working on content in game for "EVERYONE", making sure some people spending money in the C-Store should not be a higher priority then fixing content for the entire "paying" player base.

You can twist it however you want, but time and again it has been said they run STO with a relatively small staff. If that is the case, then make them work on bugs/exploits/content or lack there of, such as Klingon faction unfinished, before trying to milk more money out of a player base. The player base that has stuck by STO even During the pitiful state at launch.

Having those people work and fix things require funds, and with Atari doing its best to survive in this economy, a lot of money is going up the parent publisher than into Cryptic. There needs to be a secondary stream of revenue. Also, these each type of designer would be working on different things anyway, as a costume designer can't make a Klingon mission; he makes costumes. So why not sell those costumes to help pay the level designers or pay for more level designers?

    To add onto it:
MMO monthly fees have remained relatively stable since the 1990s at $15/month.

Meanwhile, the cost to develop, market, and support a game has increased - not just in terms of financial but also manpower costs. This is in addition to inflation and the weaker value that $15 has today than it did during the 1990s.

To say the c-store shouldn't exist is to be completely oblivious to the market - regardless of whether the game is F2P or not (F2P STO just means they'll be a lot, lot more in the c-store).

Except it's been stated that the artists and people involved in making the Delta Flyer item (artists and people who hook it int te existing database structure as it's another ship); ARE NOT the same people tasked with content design, or are the high level language coders fixing bugs. Not everyone on the team has the same skillset.

For example, I'm sure car dealer auto repai places have secretaries and office staff in addition to th mechanics. Having a secretary go out and assist the mechanic with fixing your car probably isn't going to see your car get fixed faster; and may in fact annoy the mechanic as the secretary DOESN'T have the proper skill set to assist in ameaningful way.

Mk XII items? The mark/rank system is already pretty off for admirals.

[format: Mark (Minimum Rank, corresponding power level)]
    Mk I (Lieutenant, level 1-5)
    Mk II (Lieutenant, level 6-10)
Mk III (Lieutenant Commander, level 11-15)
Mk IV (Lieutenant Commander, level 16-20)
    Mk V (Commander, level 21-25)
    Mk VI (Commander, level 26-30)
    Mk VII (Captain, level 31-35)
    Mk VIII (Captain, level 36-40)
Mk IX (Rear Admiral Lower Half, level 41-45)

It should be: this is where things break down:
Mk X (Rear Admiral Upper Half, level 46-50)
Mk XI (Vice Admiral, level 51-55)
    Mk XII (Admiral, level 56-60)
Mk XIII (Fleet Admiral, level 61+)

    As it currently is:
Mk X (Rear Admiral Lower Half, level 41-45)
Mk XI (Rear Admrial Upper Half, level 46+)
Mk XII (Rear Admiral Upper Half or for disruptor beam arrays only, Vice Admrial, level 46+)

It's already been said that the release of Mark XII items this early was a mistake, let's not compound that mistake by power creep.

TrentTyler - your post is a bit off topic and unfair. The question was asking when will the Delta Flyer be added as a craftable in game. I have been giving updates on this and since I'm personally doing the work to add it to the store, it is waiting on my schedule until I have all the craftables ready that I've asked for.

I hear your frustration about the c-store - but i'm going to re-iterate again just for you - the vast majority of our time is spent on improving the game and adding new content. The argument that we spend all our time working on a c-store item is complete speculative rubbish. The manpower hours it is taking to make Episode 4 for this Saturday vs. say the Delta Flyer is on a 100:1 scale. It is difficult to explain all the hours it takes to make content vs making an item like the Delta Flyer.

But that's only part of it. The items that go into the c-store are either items we make on the side or outsource. Many times we have a desire to put various assets into the game and have to pick and choose what we do next. Having the c-store as an option to sell items players are asking for gives us an avenue to offset costs.

Are there bugs in the game? yes. Do we have to prioritize what is worked on next? yes. We make bug fixes at every opportunity we get. Our release notes will prove that. It is sucky having to prioritize everything, but we really are a very small team and so far I think we are striking a good balance between bug fixing, new content, new features, and c-store items. We put things in the c-store that people ask for that we would normally not have time to make because the revenue can help with offsetting costs (such as getting additional help or outsourcing).

I recognize that subscribers have stuck with the game despite several issues you may not like, and that is why I continue to prioritize new content and bug fixes higher in the list than microtransactions and give proportionately much more time to those items.

As far as the Delta Flyer being craftable - that is another area where I've put my foot down with a goal that subscribers should always have an alternative in-game method of earning items. With this policy in mind - to then say that we are "miking" isn't fair at all . No one is forcing you to buy anything and if anything we are going out of way to ensure subscribers can get the same items without spending points in the c-store. We aren't 100% to the point where every microtransaction is obtainable with in game currency, but we get closer with every update.

Your post comes across as frustration and I can share in your frustrations. My track record at continuing to support more PVE for KDF and addressing issues should speak for itself.

I just think you're being a little unfair in your statements and wanted to provide more insight. You don't have to trust or believe me. I'll let our updates continue to speak for themselves and you'll have to decide if we are making progress or not.

Is the craftable Delta Flyer the same one I bought in the C=store then?

I thought they were going to be "customizable."

Could you elaborate on what exactly is customizable?

Don't know where you got customizable from. It is the same shuttle as in the c-store - just another way to obtain it like how you can pay for other c-store ships with emblems/marks.

The other craftable items beside the Delta Flyer, does that include shuttle weapons (like the 360 degree beam array)?

I don't remember where I got that idea, but thanks for verifying.

Can I craft one and sell it on the exchange then?

I am at end game and the missions sound fun, but I would quickly run out of ship slots.

Does the craftable come with the Delta Flyer shuttle pet as well like the C=Store one?

You cannot craft the delta flyer and put it on the exchange, but you can obtain the special delta flyer schematic and sell the schematic on the exchange which can then be crafted by the person who wants it. (this way the ship gets bound properly - think of the schematic as the bind-on-equip item)

The craftable version should come with the shuttle pet as well (i'll have to double check)

Awesome. I was hoping this would help create a mini-ship economy, and the schematic seems to be a great way to manage that.

Will we ever be able to have more than just the Del Taco shuttle and EITHER the Runabout or Delta Flyer pets out at once?

I'd be happy if I could just have all 3 out at once.
