More in-game Trek music?

As I type this, I am listening to the main score from ST: First Contact. I sure wish It was in STO. Beautiful song, it is.
I was hoping you guys would consider adding more music into STO that comes from the movies and series. Don't get me wrong, I love the music you have now, but I still would luv to hear a familiar score here and there. Something to consider for S4.

Another thing that would be cool is the option to get the songs played in STO for like media player or itunes. that is, so we can listen to em even when were not playing the game :p like I said, they are great tunes. good job with them!

so, not the most relevant thread, but I hope you consider it, Cryptic! thanks!

    I agree wholeheartedly.

I remember back in the day when I used to play Republic Commando. Man they had some great music cues. You blew up a wall.....bam epic music.

I would love it if they're could be the next generation fanfare every time we either take down a boss or blow up a big enemy.

What Id really love to see at least for starters is a quiet DS9 theme in the background when we fly into DS9 space. it would bring back so many memories of that great series. Maybe even the VOY score when we fly through gamma orionis, lol. at least during parts of it.

I agree also. I like the music in game but just like any other game. After awhile I turn it off.

I won't be sad if they don't add more. It'd just be nice.

First, I want them to have the Amok Time song playing when they first introduce the Lirpa (many are speculating that players will get a Lirpa in the upcomming mission "Colliseum" so I want the Amok Time song to play while we fight with the Lirpa in the Colliseum).

Next I want the DS9 theme to play when you warp into te system at DS9.

Those are the two big ones for me, but I'm more than happy with more Trek songs in game.

I setup my client to do this and tend to forget that isn't what everyone has when they go there.

You can already use itunes in the game. The problem is that sometimes it just doesn't sync up with the action on the screen, you just have to run your playlist no matter what is going on. I would like to have the option to customize each track specifically, have certain tracks for battles, exploration, diplomacy, sector space, etc.

Bottom Line: The music we have right now is horrid and needs to be changed, or there needs to be better customization for those of us who play licensed star trek music.

If by "sooner" you mean, say, "next Saturday", you'll have a lot of happy players!

Nifty! Can you share any more information about what's being added?

I'm starting to believe more and more that we'll be getting the Amok Time fight song in the upcomming episode "Colliseum". Dstahl's hinted that the song might be tied to the introduction of the Lirpa, and the name of the Episode seems to suggest a melee oriented fight in a colliseum, the perfect time to introduce the lirpa.

Well, the lirpa was just confirmed for the Colliseum in another post. Here's to hoping the Amok Time fight song will play in the Colliseum.

I was gonna start a thread on this very idea myself until the OP beat me to it :p

But yeah, i would love to have trek music from the soundtracks in the game. I was in KA the other day on the surface and i had First Contact's 'Appoching Engineering' and 'Retreat' tracks playing in the background...it felt as though i was watching an episode. The track from Enterprise's Regeration episode where Tarkaleans are assimilating the ship is a good one to listen to...'Borg Hunt' i think it's called.

Maybe the devs could bring in some of the composers from the shows and do new music for our weekies! People to consider: Ron Jones, Dennis McCarthy, Jay Chattaway, Brian Tyler, David Bell, Paul Baillargeon to name a few...

I'd like to hear the Voyager theme and the Klingon march.

Heck I'd even like to hear the original version of the Enterprise theme, before they tried to rock it up. But I doubt that would make it into the game.

I agree, though I place more of the blame on Braga than on Berman. Enterprise was a failure of epic proportions. It's not bad if you look at it as a stand alone, but compared to the other Treks it pales in comparisson. Thanks to Enterprise, Star Trek may never be salvaged enough to get a new show.

That's great news to my ears :D:p

Haha I was watching another SyFy Star Trek movie marathon last weekend and I had my tv's volume up while I played STO :p

Prefer Rod Stewart to Russell Watson, m'self - diff'rent strokes an' all that... ;)

As for 'Enterprise', I always felt they could have made more of Dennis McCarthy's fantastic 'Archer's Theme'. The version with Scott Bakula reading the classic opening speech always makes me go all "soggy with nostalgia" (to quote Tom Lehrer!):

Fan Trailer for 'Enterprise: Season 5' - love this version of the theme!

If that had been the opening theme, Enterprise as a whole would have gained an extra rating point or 2 on my scale. Far better than the real thing.

That vid looked quite good actually. The visuals could of been better though...the constant changing of scenes didnt quite work there.
