Is open pvp zones with toggling doable?

Ok...I have a question reguarding a hybrid of open/toggleable pvp zone consisting of all zones that would encompass the ingame version of the Fed/Rom/KDF neutral zone. But this would be with a catch...if you flag yourself for pvp prior to entering the zone, then it is open pvp to you in that zone. This cannot be changed from within the zone. You go in when you flag yourself for open pvp and get killed...deal with it. Now, if you detoggle yourself for pvp prior to entering this zone? You can't suddenly from within the zone toggle to pvp just to gank someone. Opinions anyone?

And devs...will the Cryptic engine allow for it? Because if the engine allows for this feature to be implemented....this will satisfy many of the players who want open pvp while at the same time satisfying those that don't wish to participate. Also.....if it is done in such a way that it can encorperate more zones or eclude formerly included zones....then you can adjust these zones to fit the current storyline of STO.

    DStahl has mentioned some sort of PvP interaction in the coming future. There are no details on how this would work. It might involve PvP zones with a PvP flag, or some other method. Regardless, it is likely involving a lot of work and changes on the server side, which has probably already started some time ago.

    Cool, but I'm going to ask you this...if they implemeted a toggled pvp zone that you can't detoggle or toggle while in the zone...would you be ok with it? This is actually something I'm dying to see ingame.

    good idea and bad idea, good i like open pvp, bad toggle flagged before you enter zone ?? Oo ehm.... won't it be simple toggle on in the zone you are !!! i say this cus i don't want to be spawned killed cus i'm still loading and the fact that someone in the zone can see me before i see them ?! some interesting thoughts eh no? or did you had spawn killing in mind?!
    and that you can't de-tag flagging in the zone where you put it on is great idea, you don't want them flag jumpers now do we! either your flagged for pvp or not that simple and if you don't want to pvp any-more then get the hell out of the zone! Oh that reminds me if your flagged and you zone you auto de-flag !! spawn killing remember.

    If you read my first post I said the toggle suggested wouldn't be accessable once in the PVP zone.

    I'm good with PvP zones being no toggle, persistent PvP. That just how I roll, however. Other people would feel differently.

    I assume such a change would require some new coding, but it should be within the realm of possibility.

    A way to "fake" it might be to not have it a toggle button, but every time you select, say, to enter a enemy signal contact or a otherwise visitiable zone, you get two options - one leads you to the Open PvP version, and the other to the regular PvE version.

    Part of what is needed is already in the game. Look at areas like Ker'rat, the Feds and Klingons are flagged for PVP against each other. While in Places like Gammma Orianis, they aren't. It would be a matter of how to get the game client to conditionally change this flag for pvp/non-pvp prior to entering a pre-defined zone.

    Devs....I think this topic warrents further exploration, can you please comment as to whther or not the game's engine will allow it? And if not, is it a limitation that can be overcome in a reasonable time frame?
