Total Ship Customization

Hello all, One of the good aspects of this game is character customization, many players (I for one) love the idea of creating their own race, height, color, etc in great detail. How about taking the same idea and applying it with ships, I dont see how it wouldnt be possible to do and in fact charge if you have to, might be a good way to make some extra money.
The idea is simple, take a templete starship say the Galaxy, and open up the players every hull, nacelle, pylons that are available for all ships but of course properly scaled to the size of the galaxy. I admit there might be some funky looking creations but theres some out there already...i understand not alot of people like the envoy or the imperial (Theres a house on the hull..). But the point is more customization. Why cant i have my Noble class saucer have different impulse engines or those nice underside sensor dish things on the luna, what if i like the new glowing strip from the hull of the nomad, why cant i put that on my ship? I currently use the Noble Cruiser which btw it probably has alot of detail because its the design taken from the NX-91001, but what if i want the pylons from some earlier ship like the science ships. And what happened to those nice NX-91001 glows on the saucer and the warp nacelles, how come i cant get those back. (http://www.startrekonline.com/dyncontent/startrek/uploads/Wallpaper-16-1920x1200.jpg, http://www.startrekonline.com/dyncontent/startrek/uploads/Star_Trek_Online-PCScreenshots25157sto_112008_01.jpg) People complain of the ships looking too bulky, why not add an option where the player can change the height and depth of the hulls and ridges to make them look more streamlined. We already have it for characters (ie. nose depth, cranial height). Why not add an option for more canon detail on the ships like the under the hull of the excelsior and the new Enterprise 2009, they have what looks like torpedo bays (id love to have that btw if even only just for looks) I dont know about others, but as for myself I think this idea might be worth paying a little extra for.

I'm pretty sure that ships have "skeletons" just like players. Items attach at certain locations, weapons fire from points on ship parts, trails come from nacelle parts.

The problem is, each ship class has its own skeleton. An advanced escort just has different parts from a fleet escort, even. And if you start mixing and matching EVERYTHING... well, then the art team has to somehow check every single possible combination to make sure they don't clip weird or look TOO odd.

...Though I'm not sure entirely why that matters, just look at "alien" races with features stretched to ridiculous extremes. They never really matter, you can just ignore the ones who are doing silly things. Still, a cruiser that looks like an escort.... or runabout, for that matter, might be an issue.

Most importantly, is the profile recognition- you know whats an escort, whats a science, and whats a cruiser at a glance, as well as various Klingon types. If players can just cobble any assortment of parts together... well, it gets more interesting, but ship profiles are shot to hell.

Also, your posts get more readable with paragraphs, just to point that out. Kind of wall of text there.

True ship customization is one of those. "would be nice... but" things.

CBS has a lot of control over the ship designs so I seriously doubt they would relinquish that in order of that level of ship customization to be in game.
