does anybody know what happened to the caitians and when they will be release? they were sopose to be released with the 14-19th update according to the calander (prior to t being change,)
i was so looking forward to them =/
i even made a pandian (it's a cross between a panda and a catian) drawing for my display picture for the up and coming catian release ^_^ (< points to display picture)(it took me over a month to draw that using photoshop >_< )
The lead designer had to take time off from working on Caitians in order to get a new hire up to speed. Last update was that it was expected for later this month.
The Caitens 'were' scheduled for 1.2 for players to buy in the C-store, however, they've said that there is a possability it will get knocked back to 1.3 due to the lead designer having to train up some replacement devs. As per the latest Engineers report:-

I don't accept the possibility until I actually see it moved to the 1.3 listing.

Aye, looks like they are not even on the calender anymore for this month, but of course it could show back up as fast as it was removed.
oh..... i see..... well atleast they are still being released =3, it would be nice if the calander would reflect this though >=|
Yea, I have been putting off rolling my engineer alt till the Caitens become avail.
I am very curious how they will turn out when they finally go live.
I was considering the idea of making a caiten engineer.
The engineer is the only Fed class I have yet to play yet lol.

me too! =D i've only ever rolled a tactical, it'll be interesting to see how an engineer will turn out, or maybe a science officer >_> but they seem kinda bleh. i'm not much of a buff/debuffer =/

Just remember the calendar dates are not hard dates. Thing will slip on and off and further back all the time for various reasons. Catians here being an example slipping with them training a new dev, something unexpected when the calendar was first put out. It's only a projection of when they hope to release content based on what they are currently working on and based on how long they think it'll take. Projections aren't always right, and that goes for any line of work. At least Cryptic tries with the calendar which most other games don't do at all.

Not to de-rail your thread or anything, but the science class is pretty fun actually.
I definately recommend trying one.
I was not sure myself if I would like playing one, as my normal roles for other games have always been strictly classes that are dps only.
For a race that is not even officially mentioned in Star Trek, people get a bit too obsessive about cat girls for my liking. How about you find an anime game and feed yout teenage tendencies there instead?
We want to see Breen, Kazon, Voth, Iconian who fit into the story and not some other excuse for people's deviant pleasures...
*Face palm* Even more waiting, I'm beginning to regret having a subscription to this game.

Actually, I've done come to the conclusion that the people who consider Caitians = Cat Girls are just idiots, and here we have two of them in this thread.

While I'm not agreeing with the "cat girls" poster, I do find it odd how Caitians have such a die hard following, considering how obscure they are. People dont seem to behave the same way about other species from the shows/movies. They have easily been more threads about Caitians than any one other species, and I cant help but wonder why.

Well, it doesn't matter to be honest, I've done quit playing until they do get added in. Granted, I haven't canceled my subscription, but that's mainly to get veteran rewards.
Anyways, looks like I won't be playing anymore for a while due to the constant delays.

Wow, you just proved my point better than anything I could have said. I've heard alot of people saying they have stopped playing, but you are literally the first person I have heard say they have quit playing until X species is added. Id really love to understand just why you are so passionate about Caitians, if you would care to explain it.

What can I say, I'll admit it, I consider myself a furry fan (expects the usual insults and hates) and I was really looking forward to using one, using it as a Cat Girl, no, just as a regular character, yes and I wasn't going to do anything that people insist furries constantly do, I was just going to play normally.
Now I could play the Gorn character I have, but the problem still lies in the fact that the Klingon content, the PvE content anyways is a 10th less what the Starfleet side has.

To be completely honest, I didnt even know what "furry" meant until seeing the term used in another thread about Caitians. However, from the research I have done, I dont see how there is anything inherently "wrong"(a subjective term of course) with the "fandom" itself. Of course, I did see mention of the fact that some fans have a "special" interest in the genre, but that is no different than any genre TBH. There are "special" people in pretty much every community, so singling out one as different doesnt make much sense to me.

Well, it happens, I've seen it on several other threads about this subject, but funnily enough, I can point out weird people in the Trek fandom as well, but anyways, like I mentioned, that's the main reason I'm kinda ticked that this species has yet again got pushed back to lord only knows how long.

One reason you might consider is that Cryptic's last two games had a big cat girl following. I think that certainly helps explain why you might see those folks here.
I think the big misnomer here is that cat girl = furry. It seemed to me that in City of Heroes, there was a cat girl following that included a fair number of female players because it was seen as a way to look alien without being ugly and while being quite feminine.
Look at Warcraft. There are studies showing female players tending to gravitate towards certain races that seem to match my own anecdotal observations. One of my good friends loves playing druids but tends to avoid playing Horde because she doesn't want to play a lumbering cow. She likes nimble, graceful characters. I think the only option that drew her Horde side was playing a Blood Elf Priest.
Most Trek aliens tend to look a bit ugly and deformed, like humans covered in lumps. If you don't want to look human or like a human in rubber prosthetic makeup, Caitians seem like the surest way to do that.

I'm also guessing that everyone instantly assumes all Caitians = M'Ress from the animated series as well, despite the fact that the ones in the movies, when they were seen were male.
Also, yeah, I preferred using the Taurians while I played WoW, but I got out of WoW a loooooooong time ago thankfully.

i looked at the science skills and they don't really fit in with my style of play =/
plus i'd probably be flying an escort ship, which doesn't give much in the way of science abilities >_>;

3 including myself but i'm smart enough to realize they are more then just cat girls >_>;
I am a big Caitian fan. Oddly enough I am not a furry. Like the Nagus I didn't know what a furry was until I played STO. I too had to research them to see what the big deal was.
I like them as a race because they contrast somewhat from what I usually play (human or human ish) They are alien in looks but they are not outlandish enough for me to have problems playing them. Plus I like cats.

Well, you said it yourself, you consider them more then just cat girls, which is what the other two are doing, even though its not true.
The other two just seem to think that Caitians = Cat girls, which quite frankly shows that they've only been watching TAS.
