I have another character but I find that once I have got the space pvp daily (I don't particularly want to do it but some idiot dev decided to make the pvp stuff from marks better than the exploration stuff and I don't want to be disadvantaged in hard fleet actions etc) over with I've lost all enthusiasm to play, it's so boring and repetitive I don't see what people see in it... the same with the exploration really, even when borg appear they are usually done wrong taking people hostage etc acting like any other character, or the cool-lookingness of the borg infected planets ruined by overuse (like on maps where there is supposedly ancient alien artifact radiation harming colonists, yet they are on a planet that has even the ground assimilated you'd think that would be the least of problems..) ..there's just no depth to the story part of the game at all it's just tacked onto the killing and "loot" part of the game which gets old fast like city of heroes... it's not like the exploration videos on http://startrekonline.com/videos advertised it at all
Boring is a subjective concept. What bores you might entrall me and vice-versa. Since your an LTS member the best thing you can do is a take a long break from the game. Find something else to play for a couple of months. I subscribe to several MMOs so that I can skip around and side-step game overload when it sets in. Variety is the spice of life.
Well, at a guess given the typical forum population, you'll find numerous people who will reply in the affirmative because they've already got bored, unsubscribed, and moved on to other games, so I would not expect a statistically useful result.
I found my interest has waned a little; I intend however to make a Klingon and see how that goes, as I do enjoy a bit of PvP now and again; now that there is some exploration content as well, there might be enough variety to keep things going.
If I were really desperate, I could go waste some time on being told I'm clueless in the Infected or somesuch...

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat as you. I played the game since closed beta so I sometimes wonder if that played a big hand in my boredom with the game (I haven't logged in in over 2 weeks now). During the beta's I was able to get a toon to LTC both times and after launch I got one toon to Captain (not sure which rank anymore) and another one to LTC again so I certainly don't question whether I at any one time found the game fun but just realize that the things I found fun in the game were somewhat few and far between. There has never been anything I'm aware of that made playing with others seem like a "must do" especially when you consider as you pointed out the questing seems mostly lifeless and thrown in and not very immersive at all, couple that with the fact that there are really no other viable activities besides the very boring Memory Alpha crafting and you have a recipie for failure. Unfortunately for them I'm not a lifetime member and am also month to month and I'm now trying to give myself a reason to stay subbed until the announcement of season 2 i hopes that they will truly add some good content to the game but given what was offered in season one I'm growing more and more skeptical of Cryptics ability to really do this game justice.

I don't think I like "MMO" ... that label seems to be just used as an excuse for making a poor quality game just because it's multiplayer, they say "that's just how it is" rather than trying to do anything original...
I did all the story missions and other than the State of Q episode and the end of the fire caves one they are all pretty forgettable, I just can't see why to play this instead of say mass effect, left 4 dead, fallout 3 that kind of thing really that do everything STO tries to do but better and bigger unless you mainly just like playing with a little metal box with guns on it in space...
It's like the game has been built with a focus on "hardcore" people with all the insane focus on "loot" and "points" rather than any actual story or character interaction other than shooting stuff...
Cosmic you have a good point I just hope it does change in future, it seems a bit though like Cryptic just make their games out of a mould that's why they say "we get it done from start to finish in 2 years" like popping it out of a toaster...
I honestly go back and forth. The basic combat mechanics I still find entertaining even if the actual things I'm doing (mainly Exploration because it offers the most variety but it desperately needs more) are pretty repetitive. I also enjoy looking at my ships, running around with NPC crew on away teams, and occasionally doing things in groups or with fellow roleplayers.
The bloom is off the rose though. I'll always make it on for my Exploration daily with my main character and, if I'm in the mood, I'll switch over to an alt I'm working on. Lately I've been on a bit more because the new patch and respec have given some new life to my main and my enthusiasm is carrying over to the alt grind too. But I suspect unless we get some more meaty PvE solo/small group content in I'll be wandering off again until the next big update.
I really get a sense that in a year STO will be where I need it to be if they develop the right things that create more momentum for the RP community and for the casual/solo gamers. I'm a broken record on this but we need radically expanded Exploration content with more variation both among mission types and within individual missions (granularity of randomization). After that player generated content, Fleet Starbases and functional bridges/ship interiors.
I enjoy the game just fine so far. Sure it could be better but all that stuff will come later since Cryptic is actually listening to constructive feedback.
I have 2 RA5 and I'm bored to tears. I log on, do dailies, and log off. I spend about 30 min in-game every day.
I hate PvP in all MMORPGs.
The STFs are ridiculous if not just for the time invested not equaling the reward.
(Even if you can Epeen run it in 1 hour. Which I can.) Not to mention the difficulty.
Fleet Actions are not fun mainly because almost all of them are ground based. Which brings me to the fact that I hate Ground Combat.
Im not going anywhere though... I'm happy to continue to support this game until it can truly be called complete.
I'm looking forward to the difficulty slider and more 5-man content thats deeper than "Throw 100 Borg at you, add ridiculous timers, then throw a boss in with a billion HP, and slap it together. BAM brand new STF!"
Season 2 is really what Im waiting for. I'll gladly pay $15 for April, May, June, and July.
If Season 2 doesn't come through for this game in the aspects of making it more casual friendly, add more grouping content, add even more grouping content, then add more space content, and add Klingon PvE levels 5-45.
Then I'll be leaving unfortunately with a heavy and sad heart.
I love this game; but Cryptic please give me something worthwhile to do.
Hmmm..bored yet? Me? Not really. It depends on the day I'm having really. Some days I could play for 20 mins and call it quits. Others I could saty on for hours tweaking this and changing that.
I will say that Ive found it to be the "norm" in ANY game to get bored after a while. But the great thing about MMOs is its the people/devs that can make it different every time I log on.
I've also got a great bunch of folks i can jump in vent and "shoot the bull" with.
Good luck though, I hope it works out for you. Nothing worse than feeling unfulfilled.

I think your last paragraph about catering more to the RP community and casual gamers will be a bigger factor in longevity for this game. Appealing to a broader audience will have more impact than soley focusing on the gaming aspects. Adding a second life type module to the game would do wonders for the subscriber base imo. I can bet that many ST fans aren't interested at all in STO. I wish Cryptic could think outside the box on this one instead of copying their one hit wonder COH. It's still not too late.
EDIT - Forgot to add my monthly renews Apr 11th. I hope to check back after Season 2.

I totally agree with this point. I find it very immersion breaking to get exploration missions where the Borg are "searching for artifacts from their third dynasty" and the like. This is yet another example of how the game was rushed... not much thought was really put into fleshing out the races/cultures. They just got thrown into the "insert faction x into exploration mission y" formula without paying much attention to the detail and pre-established canon.
Im not really bored with it. Because I quit playing it.
I did get bored with it. So I took a little time off. You know, its the best thing to do. Played something else for awhile. Then I remembered what good games were like.
Then I came back and played a little more, before taking more time off. And then even more time off.
Before long I arrived where I'm at now. Not playing at all. Not STO at least. Im not sure I will ever log in again at this point. It looks doubtful.
I found the game boring quite awhile ago. I haven;t logged into the game for about two weeks (maybe longer), with the exception to patch the client.
I've gone back to EVE which is a much better product. STO (like Enterprise) is another embarrassment in the franchise, in my personal opinion. What pains me, is that the community expressed what they wanted before its release, and expressed clearly that they wanted a finished, and polished product.

I definatley do not find it boring.... but i also feel that there needs to be A LOT more things to do.
Working on a third in a new and exciting way. All turret cruiser.

Still enjoying the game. Entering Cardassian space today, fingers crossed!

We didn't get that.
Come play EVE with me, Commander Reed!
