So... my fleet is defunct.

I believe that the Fleet in my signature is now defunct. I've looked for the senior members of the fleet in game, but I can never find them. So IDK what's going on with that, but I'm clearly not joining them anytime soon. Does anybody have a cool fleet that I (and possibly my cousin) can join?

And before anybody says anything, I know this is the wrong section, but this is where I hang out. I'd rather join a fleet with people I know than get invitations thrown at me from a half a dozen different noobs who want to make the "Super Aesome Phasers Fleet!"

We're open to new people, and we're bout as casual as they come.

Wasn't my first choice to name the fleet "Phazers on Kill".... not my idea... but we merged with people who were looking for players to form a fleet, so we compromised. We finally ended up with the name "Allegheny Retreat-Phazers On Kill" (A.R.P.O.K. for short I guess) in the end.

We're open to anyone if ya want to join.

:) Yes our fleet is still recruiting. We are a mature fleet with in game vent and a weekly fleet meeting every sunday PM. We have science, engineering, tactical and academy. There is also a diplomatic corps which works on setting up embesies with other fleets. Please give fleet 187 a look.

I am planning on leaving my fleet to start my own. The fleet I am with is helpful when it comes to information. But they suck when I ask them for real help. Such as teaming up for a mission.

Hmm... I'm already seeing a slight problem here...

On the one hand, I want to be in a more or less casual fleet. I can't ever play on a schedule because of many unpredictable events in RL. And I also like to play with my cousin whenever he happens to be on.

On the other hand, I still want the other players to be somewhat active... and I don't want to be in any fleet with the word 'phaser' in it:D But all the casual fleets seem to be that way.

Anyway, Gothhillbilly, I'd be very interested in your fleet if the weekly meeting isn't required. But if it is, I can't join.

Hi there, I dont really have a recruitment process.. I just invite equally like minded people who are mature, laid back and love casual play. We are a pretty active guild.. about 50 members, and like 15-25 people active in the evenings and more on weekends... we share whatever we get, don't really believe in 'hoarding' whats the point? If I cant help someone in my fleet I try to find a way. We have a vent, and a PvP squad that seems to be getting really into it lately ( I had to make them their own channel they get so loud! ) Anyways, hit me up sometime here, or in game @Misterri and we can chat.. or not... we can just stare at each other at Earth Dock and do weird dance moves.. i'm open :)

:) No, the meeting isn't required. Just a way to share concerns and ideas over live chat out of game. Fleet adm answers questions typed in. If we all talked nothing would get done. All text show up on screen so we can talk to each other.

You can always join my Fleet. The only entrance requirement is the ability to do the Hare Hare Yukai.

I can really relate because I tried to start a fleet and I am very picky about who I hang out with. This game has a lot of what I call "WalMart Fleets" where anyone can join and the only requirement is a pulse. I am a very social player, I use ventrilo a lot, I am in a fleet and they have vent, but nobody uses it, it's a fairly large Fleet. I used to play Klingons and I got turned way off to playing them by the players, way too RP for me, and no women players. I need to hang out with people from all walks of life or I get bored fast, I don't care if a fleet has 250 members if nobody relates to each other as a Star Trek Fan then all your fleet is is a tag on your character. I don't play MMO's to sit by myself and listen to sound effects, I need people. I tried hanging out with other Klingon players and it was like a hull breach, every bit of life sucked out into the void of space. Some players think they are RL Klingon warriors and it is pretty scary, I just want to play a video game, I don't want to speak Klingon and read books about Kahless or whatever his name is. Not everyone dresses up like Star Fleet officers and sleeps in Star Trek pajamas, I want a group that will accept people even if they aren't "Klingon enough" or not a big enough fan.

I run into the same problems as this guy. I want to to join a fleet eventually, but I am so casual and off-the-wall with my schedule that I don't know if it will be possible. I guess we'll see.

Well, you should join the fleet I'm going to start with my cousin on our Klingon characters. The only requirement is that your ship doesn't have a serious name (Mine's the Raging Ivan, his is the Furious Larry).:D

Dervish, I'm sure your a great guy, and I'm sure your fleet is awesome, but I could never join it. Not in a million years. I, along with Stupid and an unknown number of others, have named ourselves Dervish-Haters. By taking the hated name of Dervish, you have made any meaningful interaction between us impossible.

So how would myself and my cousin go about joining your fleet?

the name of My ship is the IKS NOM NOM NOM NOM

named after what my 20 month old daughter was saying when I was feeding her a bite of a Reese's and trying to think of a name.

I am a leader, I am not a follower, it's hard to fill a Fleet when you have monkeys who do nothing but sit on the forums and thread bump their recruitment threads. Peoples recruitment threads get burried in 2 seconds beneath every troll post. There is a SEVERE lack of leaders in this game, people think "oh what do you think this is the Army", and that is not the purpose of leadership. When you need leadership, the Fleet "Boss" will tell you real quick whether they have it in them or not. Being a leader doesn't mean making sure people level fast enough or have the right gear, it's making sure people work together well enough that they can earn it themeselves.

Kirk was a leader, he did not second guess himself, if something stood in the way of his mission he knew how to use his resources to accomplish it.

With all these examples of leadership from Star Trek that we all grew up with, why do so many people have trouble grasping leadership. Folks can wear the rank of Captain here, it doesn't mean they have the stroke to be a leader.

I'll just throw this out. Section 31-CFR is a casual fleet with players that are both friendly and helpful.

P.S. there are no Phasers, Fazors, or Phaz0r5 in the title... ;)

My attempt at humor was ignored....early in the thread.

The Ryders are accepting new recruits....we are very casual and laid back. I am not a dictator. One of my biggest rules is REAL LIFE COMES FIRST...PERIOD.

We are small in STO...because I haven't bothered recruiting. Most of our members come form an Ally guild in SWG...MANDA from Starsider. I was holding off on actively recruiting, because the Ryders are basically a casual/social group...and it's hard to get to know people when all you see in Zone Chat is SPam...now with that TRIBBLE dissipating, I am going to start...but I won't spam. If people want to join the Ryders, they can. I am not going to beg. :D

Lol, ok, that name's good enough for me. I'll send you a message when I've either got a fleet site set up or enough people to make it in game. :D

I love how this thread went from a serious discussion to a bunch of walmart fleets tring to troll for members.

When anyone can join a nameless fleet thats sole purpose is to fill its ranks so someone can stroke their own ego like a 13 year old padding his friends list on myspace, you devalue being part of a fleet or guild. Being a leader does not mean being a flagpole sitter on the forums or spamming out blind invites in game. I have always said any guild worth joining would not broadcast in zone chat looking for members. At this rate being part of a Fleet is meaningless which is sad because a community needs leaders, because without them it will just wander around aimlessly, which this one is doing.
