I'm really tired of NOT having a choice in the first place when the game kidnaps you. I cannot trust that I will get to my destination in Sector Space after selecting a system to fly to and going AFK to refresh my drink (or whatever one chooses to do).

I've found that the warping in to fulll scale chaos has lessened from Beta. It seemed like every time I warped in (my choice or not) that space would be filled with an enemy fleet.

I despise this also. I understand its supposed to be like we've come under attack while traveling.. but really, if that's the case, why am I immediately given the option to leave once I load into the DSE? If I'm free to leave the engagement, then how about not forcing me into it to begin with?

As for the OP.. yes that does kind of suck. I'd like to see random spawn points, etc but that might make it more difficult to find a friend. Hard to say how this could be avoided, other than having the flag ship patrol NOT go right through the spawn points like they do now.. as that's usually what is waiting there.

    They really are annoying.

I leave a system and a Warbird is camping right outside it and draws me into it.
Then usually there is a fleet camping the spawn point and i get instant owned.

Then the time i want to do a Deep Space Encounter i can bump into the enemys, select them, mash the F key, nothing happens.
The enemy just bounces of me and continues flying.

Cryptic seriously needs to look at this issue. I recall back in Beta, the DSE spawns were not right on top of you. Even after running the Defend sector mission, the Flagship group will spawn directly atop your ship. I have tried this several times. Going to the extreme to get as far from the DSE entry spawn location as possible. I will be finishing off some squadron of ships, while another player usually ends up killing off the final ship someplace else on the map.

    BAM!

Flagship & escorts spawn right atop me. Usually resulting in my ship turning into a nigh-instant fireball.

To make the matter even worse, the respawn "safety" grace period is barely enough time to hit a Warp out of sector, or Change Instance.

This weekend I entered a Deep Space Encounter and got pounced by four squadrons at the spawn point. Not four ships. Four SQUADS of ships. There were two squads of 3 BoPs, one squad with 3 Negh'Var + escorts, and the roaming Flagship squad. A couple of other people spawned in right after me and we took them down through shear attrition and forces zerging. Respawning with 3 Negh'Vars right on top of you wasn't fun.

I think part of the that particular problem was that I spawned in just as the timer reset. This gave me the mission counter starting at zero. When the timer reset, the two BoP squads spawned. At the same time the Flagship and the Negh'Var squads just happened to be passing through the spawn point area. When we finished all of the squads off, the mission counter indicated that four squads had been killed. There were no other people in the zone fighting as we were all at the spawn point fighting and respawning.

The really galling thing about that situation was that I got three or four drops from the fighting and they were all batteries. Not one of which as a shield battery and two were engine batteries.

While I do enjoy the Deep Space Encounters for the most part, I dread zoning into them as it is likely I'll be facing one or two respawns if the there are squads on top of the spawn in point.

I avoid the DSE encounters as much as possible as they are all the same. Get in, kill 8 groups and thats it. For a solo player, it is just too annoying to do. Why can't it be a quick, zone in and find you have to kill 3 ships/groups or 1 or 5?

And the total number of ships in the encounter is not funny. That is a major fleet battle brewing up not just a random encounter in space.

Even Picard or Kirk would have had trouble with the number of ships in them.

unfortunately its all bad timing . at the end of engagements the main assault force hits the spawn to keep afk'ers from abusing repeat quest actions. which was abused during beta.

unless you are afk when drawn into the encounter even if attacked you can click the warp out option immediately.

but at the same time i think it should pop up a DO YOU WANT TO JOIN ./////OR NOT option instead of forcing you in.

The main problem I have with it is when I warp into a "resetting" instance and get pounded into a thin intersetllar paste by the GD flaghsip and escorts before I even have control, which wouldnt matter anyway since they are so overpowered my shields and hull are gone in seconds. I hope this is a bug and the flagship patrolling the instance entrance is fixed, it ruins DSEs for me.

I'm more sick of the fact I keep getting thrown into them after they've been finished and have to wait, like 4 minutes to do anything.

Also, I seem to be congratulated on defeating them every time I enter one - without having done anything! Seems pretty backwards to me.
