What's the issue then? If you don't want it don't turn it on, but some of us would like the option.

I think all Phaser weapons should be able to auto-fire. As a Cruiser captain who must rely on Phasers, this is very important. We will have more phasers than any other class in the game . . .

    MORE SPACE BAR MR.WORF!

And after autopilot in combat, I want an 'auto search and destroy enemy ships' button.

But seriously, more autofire. Or I need to hire more tactical officers since they can only man one phaser at a time or something.

Hey, while they're adding autofire, maybe they could add autotarget, autopilot, autolooting, and autowalkingaroundinthemissions. Then you could come back and post about how boring the game is since you never have to do anything.

Once you get to Lt. Commander, make sure to pick an escort as your first ship. Then PM me in the game and tell me what you think about autofire.

Yes, because mashing the spacebar is "doing something." I'm glad mindlessly pounding a key on your keyboard is so mentally stimulating for some of us. There's no strategy and no reason for me to have to mash my phasers for 5 minutes straight. Again, if you want to play space invaders keep autofire off, I personally would like to have mercy on my thumb and spacebar, while my others fingers are actually doing something productive.

Autofire for all beam weapons please!

Don't take choice away from the players. If you want to mash, turn off auto-fire. But for the rest of us who are focusing on the rest of everything that is going on in Space combat, let us get something that will spare our space bars and our hands. I don't feel like developing tendonitus or carpel tunnel anytime soon.

You must really enjoy mashing your spacebar.

Carpal tunnel in 6 months, that's what.

We already have auto target. It's called the TAB key. CoH had auto-looting, aka, drops went into your inventory. We also have auto pilot, or have you not encountered sector space yet?

If you want none of these "luxuries" then I suggest finding a space sim that requires true aiming and piloting skill, freelancer is pretty good.

I love it how the trolls mindlessly rant about how they may as well make the game Autoplay itself if you enable Autofire, but the thing is it should be an option that you can toggle, so that the masochists that love breaking their keyboards can continue to do so, whilst the more sane of those among us can play in peace.

I don't think the word petition means what you think it means.

Get ALL of your weapons on auto fire, I could care less.

I'll still out-dps you (and be 1st in Fleet Actions), because I time my torpedos and do max. dps this way. Can't be done with everything on autofire.

This is a thread from people who feel a fundamental aspect of the game is broken and would like to see it fixed. There are many of these threads across the forum. Clearly this is an issue of some importance to many people playing the game.

Most people that want Autofire are talking about Autofire on Energy Weapons only.

We aren't that daft that we would put Torps on Autofire as well.

All we want is the damned choice.

    OK imagine this:

Youre playing a standard fantasy MMO and you have one sword that has an autoattack.

Now you equip a second sword (dualwield), but now you have to spam the spacebar to make the second sword do it's basic attack too, because only your sword in the righthand has it's standard attack on autofire.

That would be pretty annoying, dont you agree?

More accurate is playing as a Heavy in team fortress and having to click the mouse for every single bullet.

Auto features always finds it's way into MMOs. Or have any of you guys been playing anything else but MMOs?

It's simple, auto features that can be turned on and off will please both sides. So why are we debating this?

Just put it in the game and be done with it.

I wouldn't mind auto looting. Looting is a time sinker that requires no real skills and find it quite annoying it's not been implemented in this MMO. Only thing it ends up doing is waste precious time I could spend either scanning, exploring or simply destroying the next ship.

I have no problem in scanning anomaly manually or reaching the loot drop location. But everyone always picks those darn things up, no point in doing it manually unless slow torment is one of Cryptic's goal?
