If I Don't See You, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Goodbye

ambassadorkael#6946 ambassadorkael Member, Administrator Posts: 2,679 Community Manager
Hi folks - this is a really rough/weird message to write. After today, my time as the Community Manager of Star Trek Online is ending. For almost a decade now, I've been a part of an incredible community here, and I want to say thank you to every single one of you. Yes, even you. ;) The Star Trek Online Community is a truly special thing, and I'm so grateful for the time I've gotten to spend with you all. You are passionate and compassionate, and Gene Roddenberry would be very proud of you.

I'll still be around STO, and I really hope to see you all again. The new CM is going to take good care of you, I really like them - they might not be able to post here right away, because of some legal stuff with the transfer that I can't get into, but they're really excited to meet you all and continue taking care of you, and I trust them to do so. In the meantime, the amazing moderator team is not changing, so you're still in good hands.

I'll miss you all. Q'apla'!

Thanks @ambassadorkael#6946 I will miss you and your idiosyncrasies. Curious to know who he/ she is, unless she is different from the Neverwinter one . May you do well in your next endeavor. God bless. :)

Ok not gonna lie filling up here. Mike you have been an absolute pleasure as our CM. You have been the longest serving CM and YOU have built an amazing moderation team @baddmoonrizin is firm but always fair (shame she isn't the new CM TBH) @darkbladejk is always the person to turn to on builds enquiries and anything techie and @rattler2 has grown into a proficient moderator lending thoughts and relevant info to threads here on the forum. This is all due to you sir. What I am saying they moderate by example. Mike over the years you took some hard flak from this community but took it on the chin and when you divulged during a live stream your personal struggles that make me cry so much, you didn't need to do that but what you did was beyond brave. Mike you are a brave person an AMAZING person. As you might recall sometime ago I let you and the mods know of my current issues. Sad to say they have got worse. This time next year sadly I won't be here, but over the years ive interacted with the most amazing people, mods CM's Players I'm honored one of those was you. Have a happy Thanksgiving, Have a VERY VERY Merry Christmas. Will miss ya.

Thanks for basically being so awesome over the past years.

You've navigated many highs and lows, including a global pandemic - something nobody in any profession is ever trained for...

All the best to you, and others who are facing an uncertain future.

Thank you for all your work over the past nearly 10 years. As best as you've been able to do, you've gone to bat for this community on many an occasion. The biggest two things I can think of (though it's not the only things, just the ones that pop to mind):

    1) Getting the Eisenberg-class to be a free ship for the Winter Event in 2021 to honor Aron Eisenberg's work in STO, especially as almost every Discovery ship from Season 2 onward became a Lockbox or Promo ship. It would have been easy to monetize it, but you went to bat for Aron and the STO community to have a freely-available memorial ship for him. (Side note: I hope Cryptic/DECA find a good way to make it available again, either for free or as a charity purchase that goes toward a charity of his family's choice.)

    2) Your multi-year crusade to try and get us Lockbox/Lobi/Promo/Phoenix ships that we already own as account-wide unlockables. This one was a loss for the STO community (though now we have Mudd Choice Packs/MEGA Bundles, so we kind of got it just not how we wanted it?), but you stuck with it until you got a definitive answer. I even have a Twitch clip of that I use whenever the topic comes up (though under new management, that might could change, never know!).

Take care, Mike, and I look forward to seeing what all lies ahead for you. :)

Just popped back in to say bye to you.

I know we have butted heads over the years, but it was never personal and I always felt you knew that which I appreciated. I sincerely wish you all the best going forward and I hope you find something you love even more then working at Cryptic.

You're a good dude, and I wish you the best.

    Live long.. and prosper.

    Safe journey to you.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
