Transform to Incorrect Puppet: Forced Logout

Last map you were in - 2 instances: IKS Targ and Imaga ground map
Map you were going to - 2 instances: space Imaga aboard the IKS Targ Bird of Prey
What the issue is - Game forces me out, with the message "Transform to incorrect puppet, forced logout."
What steps you already tried when attempting to resolve your issue - N/A
During the mission "The Doomsday Device," (first arc with Starfleet), transferring from the ground map to the space Imaga map (aboard the IKS Targ), my character is forced out of the game, with the message displaying "Transform to incorrect puppet, forced logout."
I was playing as a DSC Fed (tac) character, and I have another DSC Fed (sci) character that still needs to make progress this far. If my sci DSC Fed character also encounters this same error, I will update this post.
*Update, all attempts to continue this mission keep forcing me out of the game. This mission is unplayable.
*Update: the initial attempt to resume the mission was because after the game forced me out the 2nd time, I selected Continue With Safe Mode, and it had me reload into the Beta Quadrant, by Starbase One. I navigated back to the Imaga System, attempted to resume the mission, and then it booted me from the game a 3rd time, with the same "Transform to incorrect puppet" error message. Exited out of the game and relogged, this time selecting "Continue Without Safe Mode," and the game loaded me into the final space Imaga map for the mission. I was able to complete the mission, but the fact that the game boots me out every time I'm loading into the Bird of Prey is frustrating.

It happened twice within these past 2 months; it happened during a TAC DSC Fed playthrough of A Step Between Stars (beaming out of the solar station into the Dyson destroyer), and again earlier tonight during a replay of Sphere of Influence with my oldest Romulan guy (KDF allied TAC Romulan).
I noticed that this happens with Tactical characters.
It happened again just now as my oldest tac KDF guy redoing Sphere of Influence, after assigning Koren/Shon/A'drianna/Worf to their posts in the Obelisk Carrier and watching the cutscene where you enter a subspace gateway, transitioning into the ship battle over the Jouret planet.
As I'm about to log back in...
