Ok, this isn't news to anyone, I'm sure, but I feel the need to vent a bit, and express concern.
Tonight I did the event mission Guillotine. I've done it a few times now, and almost every time, there's been one or more players in the mission who obliterate everything instantly. This is a problem in two ways.
First, it means other players can't do the content because the elite dps players have done everything before anyone else can get involved.
Second, we have the problem that occurred tonight.
For the first time, I was doing the mission with a group of "normal" players, flying regular ships, using regular abilities. The result was that we simply couldn't do anything because we were being almost instantaneously wiped out, over and over, by enemies doing tens of thousands of points of damage instantly (EACH), regardless of shields, and usually 30 or so of them at a time. We're talking hundreds of thousands to millions of points of damage, instantly.
The problem is that the developers have started making "normal" content SO difficult that normal players just can't do it. There's no way to withstand it. After 30 or so team wipes... who wants to even bother trying anymore?
It's a concern. Yes, I'm venting a bit, but it IS a concern.
I only wish I knew what could be done about it.
