Advanced Engineering Consoles slotting issues

I just purchased, for the first time, both versions of the Advanced Engineering Consoles. I purchased several of each one and to my surprise I cannot slot these consoles on any of my ships. When I bring up a ship, the consoles in my inventory gray out. I try to drag them to the Engineering slot and nothing happens. I try to click them into a slot and i get "You cannot use this console" (not exact wording but u get it.). I tried on a bunch of Fed ships and several alien ships. Kinda lost as to what the problem is. I closed out the game and brought it back up hoping that would help. Nope. Anyone else ever had this issue. Its kinda acting like its a special console for only a specific ship when it isn't.

    Update: So i decided to try my handful of captains to see where these consoles can be slotted. My KDF, Jem and Rom could all slot these consoles. This is where it gets weird. 1 of 3 of my Discovery Fed Captions couldn't slot the consoles. 1 of 2 of my TOS Fed Captains couldn't slot the consoles. 3 of 4 of my regular Fed Captains couldn't slot these consoles.

    The key word to look for in console titles is "Advanced" and you can only have one type of advanced consoles equipped at a time.

    I'm guessing you may have Spire Vulnerability consoles equipped in your tactical slots? Those are "Advanced" tactical consoles and thus you cannot equip any engineering or science advanced consoles.

    If you want to equip those Advanced Engineering consoles, you'll have to unequip your Advanced Tactical (or Advanced Science) consoles.

    Thanks Inferiority. I remembered that there were some sort of limitations when they first came out but forgot what they were. My alien captains are not in any fleets so that would explain why I was able to slot those consoles in their ships as I would not have had any of the Spire Tac Adv consoles on them. Thanks again.

    The Advanced Engineering Consoles will slot with Tactical Consoles from the Colony or from the Discovery Reputation.
    I've not found any limitation on any of the Reputation Consoles, either.
