Before I suggest this does anyone know of a way to turn off the auto idle animations? I looked in the options menu but there does not seem to be anything there that would do it. If there is no other way I would like to suggest to the developers that they add this to the options menu.
"There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life." - Ten Bears (Will Sampson)
The only way I know of is to um not be idle for any length of time. Seems to work fine for me.
That's obvious. I would rather have the option to deactivate the idle animations and if that is not possible for the developers to hopefully implement this option in the menu.

You can change the idle animation by altering your Stance at the tailor. You cannot turn them off, though.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Oh those animations are fine, at least you can choose which ones you want you to use. The animations I am talking about are the ones that the developers made a couple of months ago that you cannot change at the tailor.
The two that I recall is the animation where your character has his or her weapon slung over the shoulder and the other is where your character looks like they just finished a marathon and looks completely exhausted with the weapon dangling limply from the character's hand.

That would be great except if you are still in ground red alert you can't holster your weapon and the animation will cycle even in red alert (after any fight the red alert will still be active).

Ok, now it sounds like you're splitting hairs. Red alert doesn't last forever.

I am saying in as best as I can, the problem I am having with these animations is that for whatever reason, the developers made it so it cannot be turned off. I have tried all these quick fixes mentioned above and I was hoping that there was someone that had a better remedy for it. At the very least, word could get to the developers (which I know is a long shot) to add the ability to turn off these animations in the options tab.
I don't think this constitutes as "splitting hairs."

It's not splitting hairs. They created animations that are out of character for at least one prominent species and possibly for more (it doesn't make sense to have a stern stance, and then be flexing your weapon around like an antsi person.
It's not unreasonable to want the option to turn them off. When you're on a ground mission, you almost always have your gun out. I don't consider that a viable solution.
Sure, it's not a major deal (for me), but it is a deal nonetheless.
This is why I was hoping someone knew of a way to get them turned off or at least bring it to the attention of the developers as an idea to implement this feature in the options tab.

I have seen this feature of turning off animations in other games and in one instance in this game when they introduced the "Party Nullifiers". It's almost the same situation where alot of players were tired of having their characters forced to do a dance animations at the whim of other players. I can only hope that this feature added in the options tab would not be considered by the developers as a huge undertaking to implement.

I don't like these idle animations, either. All these body movings.
When in a ground TFO, I can't help but thinking that my char looks like a very thoughtless person with her or his weapon put on her or his shoulder. Such animations make me think that my char isn't an experienced operative and isn't ready for a serious operation. They look like cadets who romanticize combats due to the lack of a real experience.
But I realize that an option of customization of such movings or an option of turning these movings off may never be introduced because most of the players may not even think of these movings as of something strange and improper. Not all the players are adults, not all the players think serious thoughts while playing.
On the whole, it seems to be the bad influence of the pop culture. In this particular case.
I love the idle animations, after playing swtor where characters stand UPRIGHT AND NEVER MOVE. I welcome shifting, fidgeting and looking at my weapon while idle.
I really love new idle animations, They perfectly fit my character, and I guess they fit many many character themes out there. But, I can imagine that for romulan/vulcan/android/ and Picard-like characters, this can be bit hit on their eye. Feature to either turn off, or change could be good solution for them.

Players are customers. Don’t hesitate to express to the developers what features or content you’d love to see in the game—things that would encourage you to spend more time playing. Even if your posts are removed from the forums, it’s important to share your thoughts. This game is fantastic and deserves both love and a community that treats it with care and passion.

Oh I don't want the animations to be removed as well. I may not like them but I wouldn't want someone deprived of those animations that enjoy them. Different taste and all. I only want the option to turn them off or on.
