The summer and winter events used to be longer

I decided to look this up after a chat I had in-game.

    In the past there wasn't ten events per calendar year. Perhaps the summer and winter events are shorter now to make room for the other events?

    Essentially this. With more events, something had to give.

    Plus honesty, having the winter event go into the middle of January didnt ever feel right to me. After a few days after New Years it really doesnt feel right. New year, winter (christmas) is over, time to look to the new year.

    It does take 5 less days to complete the event now (20 vs 25), and it's an account-wide unlock for the ship instead of per-character, so there's less need for a longer event.

    Plus those 10 events per year to fit in.

    I don't see a reason for why they shortened it. 'To fit other events in' doesn't wash. The event dailies take all of 2-10 minutes each and don't really impact on game time.....and I love QWW's! :lol: They run events concurrently already, so there's no excuse not to keep seasonal events running longer for those that enjoy their R&R.

    Because it doesn't need to be that long any more. They used to be that long because the event item was a per-character unlock, so if you wanted, say, the Summer ship on three toons, all three toons had to do all the summer events. (It also used to be possible to fail the Floater Race - the timer was a lot shorter - so you might not be able to get your markers every day.)

    Today the event ships are unlocked account-wide, and the things you have to do during the event aren't as difficult as they used to be, so the event doesn't have to sprawl across quite as much of the calendar as it used to.

    Yes, I know the reasons they were long, I took part in them back then, however, there's still no good reason to not have them run just as long as they used if the maps still draw people in.

    If it's just the maps, Risa for one is open year-round. It's just that the summer events only happen during the Summer Event. You can go lounge on the beach any time you feel like it, though.

    I think the Events are okay just as they are now. Most players go to them every day. Until they earn the ship. At which point attendance drops off. So why have extra days whenever most players are done with the Event?

    This is a given isn't it? I'm speaking of the days after the normal seven day extension given to cover for days when a player cannot access the Event.

    They might be running shorter now because of the stacking dilithium reward. 5 extra completions after earning the Main Prize nets you 8+9+10+11+12=50 thousand dilithium. 10 extra completions is 8+9+10+11+12+13+14+15+16+17=125 thousand dilithium. And as someone said that's for only 10ish minutes a day.

    Under the new system anniversary event requires more days to get the reward than it used to.

    As for Summer however, while I agree that it was longer than it needed to be I still think they shortened it a little more than it needed to be.

    It's the Dilithium extra +1k escalation per day. However, that being said, they have yet to update the Winter Event to use the new Bonus Dilithium paridigm (start at 8k and increase by 1k per day. Instead of starting at 2.5k and increasing by 2.5k per day to max 25k). I assume that they initially didn't change it to the new paridigm starting between the Winter 2020 Event and the 'Winter in May' COVID Extention, and didn't want ro change during the Extention. As to why it hasn't changed since, I assume lack of priority.
