I'm sure this probably was asked before but can we have the ability when out of combat to freely change our specializations?
We can change traits when out of combat now and is very good but we need the ability to change our specializations. That would help a lot when queuing for random TFOs and when doing story missions, with intense space combat and ground combat content. Especially when you are playing on advanced or elite difficulty.
personally I say if they do that they should just get rid of selecting specializations at all, and just have them all on all the time. no need to waste systems team's time with half measures.

The problem with that approach is that its, frankly, lazy and would increase the power creep even more. The point of having to choose a specialization is diversity. I mean its kinda in the name. You choose to be a specialist in that particular area. Are you going to be a Command Officer or an Intelligence Officer? Are you going to secondary as a Commando or a Pilot? You gonna go Temporal Ops with a Secondary in Intel or are you going to accept a nerf on the ground to be an Intel/Pilot?
I'm for MORE choices. Not less. Adds to the diversity of builds, and IMO adds to the fun as you don't just become the ultimate Jack of All Trades. You get to have some say in what you do. Player choice matters.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

well then we shouldn't be switching very rarely if ever. note the op asking for it to be made easier so they can switch to the best choice for the mission. and I'm against the op's request for exactly those reasons but if the devs are going to do it they may as well get the jump on the next request people are going have when they get tired of all the switching they "have" to do.
and your right, they don't have to. but see the splitting of personal traits into space and ground. which I also was against for the same reasons.
who know if things get crazy enough cryptic realize out control power creep is bad for the game. personally I'm not betting the farm on it.

I honestly don't mind the splitting of the space and ground traits. You still have to choose which ones to slot after all.
And I don't really switch specs myself. Hell... I routinely run nerfed on the ground because my secondary is Pilot on my main.

still lazy power creep, cause some people couldn't handle not being specialized for the mission at hand. I mean I'm wasn't and probably am still, that good but I managed with 4/4 split but people a lot better then me swore up and down you had to had to have all space in space and all ground in ground. again I don't agree with it but if we're going to go that way again may as well give people what they actually want.
the best I can come up to keep it at least somewhat balanced. would be just do a space ground split again, but I'm not sure how that would go over with people or even if it would stop the requests. I tend to, shockingly enough, roleplay my characters somewhat so I don't switch in less a better matching spec is released. but like before people swearing you just have to keep switching. I mean I guess if it is that bad for them. the rest should just deal with more power creep. it isn't like it be the first time and probably not the last either.

Specialisations should definitely stay a choice, a part of your build, not an endlessly stacking power creep thing. We already got endeavours for that, and I'd like my alts to have different abilities.
I don't switch Specialisations around either. They are part of the build, period.
A Ground/Space split on the other hand would be a good idea.
It would give us more freedom, more choice, another opportunity for variation, making the space build independent from the ground build (except for you character-class of course).
Last but not least it would solve the issue of Space-only (pilot) and ground-only (commando) specialisations leaving you at a disadvantage in the other area - which is neither fair nor is it balanced, and most likely the main reason for people to switch specialisations back and forth in the first place.
I, personaly, don't mind the split, since those specialisations don't affect the performance of a build in a drastic way. Sure, you loose some points at the absolute max, but it won't affect your ability to contribute to the team effort of completing a TFO.
Also I wish to add, that i'm speaking from a standpoint of a RANDOM TFO player, since that's the only situation, where a split would be a reasonable proposition (because you don't rly know, what's waiting for you next). Everything else is probably just being lazy, as somebody stated earlier...
It's not so much about the "few points", but the special abilities the actually affect your playstyle (If you want to make good use of them), thinks like "space flanking" (intel) or "danger zone" (Pilot).
