After browsing through my collection of ships I thought I would fly the T6 Manticore and the Captains Yacht.
My god trying to run TFO's on elite in this is tough even with a good build. I was wondering if anyone else feels that these ships are now way past their sell by date. With all of the new C-store legendary ships not to mention the... 'shudder' lock box ships, the lifetime ships just seem, well average.
For the price of the lifetime membership I believe that these ships are now due an extensive over hall to make them at least competitive at endgame.
I might well be alone in this but again I really can't be the only one who is frustrated by this. I mean these ships could really be good if given a little love, c'mon it's Nog's ship. It deserves the love.
I would be interested to hear what the community would change about these ships and why.

There's a lot of ships that could use a balance pass in this game, for instance every single 4/3/1 escort is horribly outdated compared to all the 5/3 and 5/2/1 ships we have now.
It would be nice to see them do something like this to bring value to some of those older ships but lets be realistic, its just not going to happen
The models could use an update. Most don't even have access to the newest materials and hull patterns if I'm not mistaken.
Also, remove the need to buy fleet modules for the T6 ships. The prices of these Veteran ships are comparable to those of the most expensive legendary ships - which are all at T6 fleet level.
Players shouldn't have to spend additional modules just to get some of the most expensive ships up to full T6 capabilities when other, sometimes even much cheaper ships get that automatically.
I would also like to suggest removing the charge up time for the lance abilities.
A lot of other ships that have gotten these abilities recently can fire them immediately. The fact that you have to wait like two or three seconds - during which the rest of your weapons won't fire at all - puts them at a serious disadvantage. In many cases it makes the weapon not worth firing at all.

Nah, these don't need an over-haul....a slight tune up and model update, but they are still beastly ships and more than competitive. Age does not dictate how competitive T6's are, even if they are a decade old in some cases. Competitiveness in a T6 is dependant mostly on the equipment and the person, NOT the ship.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
I agree with leem. Someone could give me a T6-U ship all decked out in gold and DPS-high and I still probably wouldn't get as much out of it as they could.
I'm decent at this game and I even do decently in the vet ships when I fly them.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.

Agreed. It really annoys me when people see Destroyers & escorts that have a 4/3/1 weapons loadout and think they are horribly outdated.
No, they are not outdated. Just because one ship has a potential maximum example DPS of 100k compared to another that can do 150k does not make the 100k horribly outdated.
Sheesh
It's the Captain, and not the starship stats that determines her capability and maximum potential.

Technically they are outdated though. Ships that are sold for that price generally don't require fleet modules anymore. Lance abilities tend to fire much faster on most ships nowadays too.
And, as I mentioned above, the models are outdated as well.
I agree that the ships themselves (lay-out, seatings etc.) are fine, but some tweaking of the console and bringing them up to fleet level wouldn't hurt, just to give them some of the advantages that newer ships automatically seem to get.
I'd like to see a "Legendary" version of the Vet ships be released for "free" for Lifers, with a full specialization seating and maybe some variance between each fo the three factions, new stat layout maybe a buff for their unique mechanic, and of course a new Legendary trait.
These ships are pretty old, and a Legendary one could go a long way towards making them a lot prettier, and more interesting.
I agree they need an update, but they got them - T6 versions were released.
However, I really do think that the Vet ships should already be at Fleet-level -- the fact we need to buy better versions of them is just awful. If I pull my one out, it's to unlock the trait and switch back to a better ship.
Dominion still need their Captain's Yacht, though...

I'd like to see one with something other than command as the specialist seat. Or command mixed with something else at least.
I'd love a mw/to setup personally
Honestly I'd love for them to simply remove the tier system entirely and just leave the fleet and 6x upgrades in place. Then they could add some of the new mechanics to the older ships, and allow newer player or players who aren't going to spend money some access to the new mechanics.

It would make sense to remove the tiers. They no longer serve any purpose, now that we can fly T6's at any level (1). Personally I'm also in favour of removing the strange 'some ships are automatically fleet level, others require a module for each toon'-thing though. It's unfair, and unnecessarily complicates things when you want to upgrade a ship that has a fleet variant.
All T6 ships should automatically be at fleet level (i.e.: have 11 consoles, the extra hull etc.) when purchased.
(1) 'Fun' fact: some T5 ships like the Prometheus cannot be unlocked until you're level 40 or so. Which means that you can fly a T6 Hestia at level 10, but you cannot use the MVAE-console that gives the ship its key characteristic. It's the same with ship from the Akira-line for example.
Such odd restrictions of course make no sense at all, when other, far more impactful restrictions were removed. The tier-system is seriously outdated.
I would also like to suggest removing the charge up time for the lance abilities.

reduce the plasma burst and tholian web cannon times as well

Yeah those need some tweaking too. I don't know for sure about the Tholian cannon, but I usually just remove the plasma burst's active power from my tray.
There's no point firing a special weapon that disables all your other weapons for like 4 or 5 seconds. You're probably dealing even less damage, overall thanks to that long charge-up time. Enemies will also have moved out of the firing arc - or worse, blown up your ship.

I've actually been chaining the Chain Web followed by Web Cannon. Holds them long enough for the Web Cannon to fire. Gets me to do the evil laugh almost as much as when I use a Megawell.

I'd go further. I'd like to see two. A cruiser and a science vessel to round out the trio. With a three piece console set.
But maybe that's unreasonable!
