Wish Ship

dragonhawke777dragonhawke777 Member Posts: 19 Arc User
I am curious about what would be peoples wish ship. So if Cryptic put out a new ship that had total universal seating and made it so that you could slot any two specialties. So for example Intell/Temporal or Pilot/Miricle Worker. So if Cryptic did this what would be your ideal specialty combination and what type of ship would you like to see it on, such as Escort, Cruiser, Destroyer, Dreadnaught. Science, Raider, or Pilot ship. If you want you can also post what skin you would like to see on the ship. So if you chose escort then you light like the Defiant ship model/skin the best. Anyways I would love to see what are peoples ideal ship type and specialty combo, so post away.

Nebula Cruiser with 4/4 layout and miracle worker/command. Seriously this game needs a legit cruiser variant of the Nebula to go along with the sci variants.

Keldon with miracle worker/command or intel/command either or. since we didn't have command too much or miracle worker when the Keldon was released.

Romulan Shadow or Phoenix from Star Trek Armada II. Could see the Phoenix be more of a sci ship but anyways.

Chief ship I would want to see in game would be an actual legitimate Typhoon class. Not the cop out of "it's the geneva". yeah nah that doesn't work for me. Give it a 4/4 layout, give it command primary intel secondary, or any combo of command/miracle worker. Really wanted the Typhoon when I first started playing back in 2013 but we never got it.

A Legendary version of the Mogai. And since Legendary ships always seem to be, ahem, "Bundled", howzabout adding in a Legendary version of the Mogh as the second ship? The Mogai because nearly all of the Legendary ships released so far have screen time in either a series or film. The Mogh because I really like it and Cryptic did a fine job on it all around.

What's that you say? I forgot to mention a Starfleet ship? No, I did not forget. Unlike the way Cryptic regularly forgets about the KDF and the Republic whenever it's time to put a new ship ingame.

I'd still like to fly a Voth Citadel. With double warp core slots and maybe 15 console slots in total? Add it to a bundle that also includes the ability to change the security escorts ability into a Voth spec ops summon thing. :)

Other than that, I don't really have special wishes. I don't really heavily use specialisations - when they are available, I consider them a bonus so whichever is present is not that relevant to me.

A T6 Star Cruiser would be nice.
Some of the other cruisers in the game could use alternative layouts that aren't as engineering-heavy regarding Boff abilities. I like flying cruisers, but in some cases I'd prefer more flexibility in their seatings.

An Alita with broadside torpedo weapon slots. An Alita with 12 forward weapon slots would be nice too. Firing torpedoes in four different colours isn't enough yet. :)

I'd dearly love to see either a Science Destroyer variant or a Strike Wing Escort variant of the Prometheus. (Especially since Thomas kept the saucer shuttlebays I love on the Hestia model.) I don't mind different weapon layouts, but hoping it's not 1 aft. I'd be interested in almost any dual-spec combo as long as one of the two is Pilot. (Command/Pilot or MW/Pilot is very interesting.)

And I'd love if they made a T6 Star Cruiser (the Cryptic design from launch, which is separate from the Odyssey), T6 Deep Space Science Vessel, and T6 Patrol Escort. I'd be very interested to see what setups Cryptic's staff would come up with for all of these. However I'd be very interested in seeing the Tempest's aft cannons be turned into a rear-arc experimental weapon you can take off and put on other ships. I still think broadside torps would be interesting on a Star Cruiser, but I've seen people complain about that a lot. For the DSSV, it'd be interesting to see a new special variant of secondary deflector, since right now the ONLY one (outside of a rep) is the Solanae one from the T5 Science Destroyers. (Maybe we could get a special variant of the inhibiting secondary deflector, or the resonating one?) Hangar space would also be interesting to see (especially on the cruiser-focused Star Cruiser or DSSV). For spec, I say surprise me.

It also still bugs me that the Sovereign didn't get a hangar bay when we got the legendary version, so the legendary Intrepid felt like a better version of it. (It got all it had and a hangar, on a smaller and more maneuverable ship.) With some of the lore for the Sovereign, the main shuttlebay (the top one) could have been converted to a hangar bay during the Dominion War, like with the Galaxy and Nebula. I'd love to see that on a dual-spec variant.

The Bortasqu could really use a special version, considering it's one of the only faction flagships left out when it comes to Legendary versions.

It'd be interesting to see T6 Dyson Science Destroyers (especially if they made the proton dual cannons removable and usable on any ship that can use dual cannons), but my priorities are the above.

I think the Heavy Cruiser still doesn't have a normal T6 either, since I think the Sagan is separate, like the Donnie. I'd also dearly love a 25th century skin for the Connie that's compatible with the normal model (but usable on a T6, like the Donnie variants), but with how many ultra-rare lockbox variants it has, I doubt it's reasonable to ask for a regular T6. So I pray for cross-compatibility in ship parts between Connie and Donnie.

My ideal ship would be 3 front, 5 rear Vorgon 2 bay Carrier. Specialties I don't personally care about as there are none for Carrier pilots just like Endeavours which are pretty pointless for Carriers. Light on Science or even zero Sci bridge powers would suit me fine though to be honest I find bridge officer options don't really matter for my Carrier builds. As long as I have two tactical slots and two Engineering slots for my core powers and pet buffs I am happy.

My builds tend to have Rapid Fire, BeamOverload, EPtW and EPtE or EPtW and EPtS for pets and traits. The only thing I don't like are Pilot ships with that double click move stuff. Big slow ships are much preferred over small fast ships.

Not that it really matter but an Engineering Carrier as we are completely lacking in Engineering Carriers.

Not every Legendary is bundled with another Legendary. We got a few that are not. And I think a Negh'var would be more likely than the Mogh because it was seen on screen and has several variants already, compared to the Mogh which only has one other variant.

    No Sci at all?

Recently I decided to not use hazard emitters on one toon that flies the Legendary Sovereign, as I wanted to use Holding beam to trigger Unconventional systems.

And then I ended up in Borg Disconnected. I know there are a few other options, but the ability to easily clear those plasma DoT's was really missed at that moment.

It goes back to the days when I lived in the Vizier Command Assault Cruiser without any Sci Bridge Officers. For the DoT's I tend to just ignore them as I use Passive Hull Regeneration to tank and/or Colony + Hull Image Refractors to tank.

I have nothing against Sci its just my builds don't really get any benefit from it.

I would like to fly an Orion Wanderer (FASA but seen on screens in TNG), Intruder/Scoutship (from TOS-R), or a playable frigate version of the Interceptor (in ENT those were full ships about as long as the NX-01, not fighters like they currently are in STO). Orions are probably the most popular KDF race, but they are pitifully underrepresented in number and types of ships.

TOS/TAS is also sadly underrepresented ship-wise. I would like to see some TOS ships in the game that actually use the googie style properly instead of just jamming TOS-like parts together in an art-deco style arrangement. From TAS I would like to see Kukulkan's ship (with its built-in holographic generator) and the Orion pirate ship.

The Orion ship, while really weird looking from the front, when seen in glimpses from other angles actually makes more sense, it is set up vaguely like the Compiler class (it has that same oval back end and a similarly oddly shaped front), and those weird arms hanging down on the bottom turn out to be a small rudimentary ship salvage slip built into the bottom of the ship (sort of like the Packled frankenship) which is probably used for salvaging/stripping shot-up captured ships.

More singularity-powered Romulan ships would be good too, especially if they could get access to the FASA V-30 Winged Defender (it's variable-geometry wings would probably make it a more agile alternative to the Mogai-type ships despite being slightly heavier). Also, a Mogai type with a few of the Dewan spinner-tail engines would be good, it would help underline the Romulan troubles with lack of enough shipyards and that they are using whatever they can find, like the unearthed Dewan ones.

The Romulans don't have ANY trouble with lack of shipyards, as they are using some of the thousands in the Solanae sphere per one of those lore bits Cryptic used to do in-between new episodes.

As presumably are Starfleet and the KDF, and probably now the Dominion since they've joined the Alliance. Not that they actually NEED any, though - even with the few they were able to beachhead in Cardassian space before the Wormhole was blockaded during the Dominion War, they were cranking out ships at frightening rates.

Not that they actually NEED any, though - even with the few they were able to beachhead in Cardassian space before the Wormhole was blockaded during the Dominion War, they were cranking out ships at frightening rates.

That depends on the timing (or at least the progression of events anyway, the official game time is laughably short for the amount of stuff that was supposed to happen), most of the RSE shipyards were either lost in the subspace supernova and the infighting the collapse of the empire caused or belonged to unfriendly fragments of the empire, so by 2409 the Republic had a serious lack of construction shipyards early on in the game.

That situation (which was also the subject of at least one of those lore blog things before the Solanae shipyard one) did not get much better until midway or later through the Delta Rising stuff, which in turn was during the latter stages of the Iconian war or thereabouts.

And even then, the Romulans had more hurdles to using the Dyson factories for ships than the other factions since some of the Romulan technologies were too alien for the factories to handle (such as the singularity powerplants) so they had the bottleneck of transporting the powerplants and whatnot to the sphere with the limited shipping they had or towing the ships without the powerplants back to New Romulus to install them.

From the excitement of some of the Romulan shipwrights in another one of those lore pages over finding the Dewan stuff intact it is possible that the Dewan tech meshes unusually well with the Romulan or something along those lines, (and the Dewan drives would look good on the back of a few Romulan ships, sort of like a B-36 or a Beechcraft "Starship" airplane).

The rest of the factions were feeling the pinch from the Iconian war too, which led to things like the Federation draining the mothball fleet yards and jumping on an irradiated construction yard full of mid 23rd century ships that became usable again as the radiation faded, and the Klingons firing up old House shipyards to crank out antiques with enough modernized systems to get by with to throw into the war to supplement the modern design ships.

So if Cryptic put out a new ship that had total universal seating and made it so that you could slot any two specialties.

My preferred primary spec is Miracle Worker just for the extra console, 2nd spec seat I'd pick Intel because OSS is the only non-firing mode spec ability that I ever use (though I use it a lot less nowadays). It would be a cruiser of some kind because I prefer having eight weapon slots, and would not have any hangar bays unless it was a ship design that I felt should have them. So my ideal build would be a Miracle Worker Battlecruiser with 5/3 weapons, Com Eng/MW, Lt Com Tac, Lt Com Sci, Lt Com Uni/Intel, and 1/5/1/5 consoles.

When it comes to actual ship classes, my list would look something like this (ordered by era):

    1. Enterprise era Intrepid-type (this is also my top wish overall)
    2. Assimilated shuttle from Enterprise
    3. Poseidon class from Star Trek: Legacy (since they say they can use things from other games now)
    4. JJPrise-A
    5. The various background ships from JJTrek
    6. T6 Pioneer
    7. Radiant class
    8. Shangri-La
    9. The rest of the Wolf 359 ships
    10. A STO-era Constitution (bonus points if they built it in all three Connie scales)

Technically speaking we have one already in both the Exeter and Excalibur classes. We just don't have the Connie-III in game, and probably won't until after Picard s3 is done.

    10. A STO-era Constitution (bonus points if they built it in all three Connie scales)

Technically speaking we have one already in both the Exeter and Excalibur classes.

Being a launch-era design the Exeter doesn't really fit the modern STO-canon design, I'd expect a 2409/2410 Connie to borrow heavily from the Reliant class since the Miranda borrowed heavily from the Constitution Refit. As for the Excalibur it's my favorite Cryptic design, but it's really a TNG movie-era Connie not a STO-era Connie.

We just don't have the Connie-III in game, and probably won't until after Picard s3 is done.

I really do not like the Connie-III at all, for the same reasons that I LOVE the Shangri-La: it looks like it belongs in the TMP era. They pretty much just took the Shangri-La and glued some phaser strips to it, removed the saucer torp launchers, gave it a new pair of nacelles and called it a brand new ship ... that just doesn't work for me. If it had New Orleans nacelles then it would work as an early TNG refit of the Shangri-La, but it doesn't fit aesthetically as a brand new Picard-era ship IMO.

If that is true, then EVERY STINKING ROMULAN ship from Starfleet Command 2

We got the Valkyrie Fighters from Star Trek Invasion. Although as a hanger pet and not playable. But they did ask about ships from other games and were told they could as long as they build the assets themselves. And people have been wanting the Ark Royal carrier from SFC 2.

TRIBBLE just the Ark Royal - I want ALL the non fed/KDF/rom ships from SFC2 - Gorn, Hydran, Mirak, Lyran, ISC, ALL of it.

And all the stuff needed to make missile spam viable with the Mirak ships.
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

1.) JHV/Dominion Science Vessel with a SECONDARY DEFLECTOR.

2.) Vulcan 5/2 Flight Deck Destroyer with Vulcan bomber squadrons. Command Spec. 12km narrow arc interdiction artillery cannon experimental weapon(slow firing, have to be nose-on to fire, impact does a sizeable AoE with effects similar to Suppression Barrage in a concentrated area).

3.) Romulan 5/2 Ar'kif with a similar setup to the above. Able to use the Ar'kif console set - including Annihilation Mode. Adore the ship line, but 4/3 doesn't it cut it for what the ship is specialized towards(annhilation mode makes the shipline a fragile alpha-striking class, closer to a raider with a flight deck).

4.) Klingon 5/3 "Mirror Negh'var" Dreadnought Cruiser with stats/performance similar to a Scimitar. Based on Mirror-Worf's Regent ship from DS9. Dual Siege Cannons console - the wing cannons in the episode were clearly designed to be sufficient to attack DS9 directly. Would go through a lockbox to get one, if needed and it didn't suck(miracle worker primary with 5 tac consoles would be mandatory if LB/Promo).

Honestly that sounds more like prime real estate for a Legendary Negh'var.

Only problem with using the Regent's ship as a Legendary Negh'var is that it's much bigger then the Prime Universe Negh'var just by how much is hard to say as it's based on scaling with the Defiant which has its own scaling issues.

On the other hand people want the K'vort, which is literally just an upscaled B'rel.

Its a bit of a trade off IMO. Yea it might get scaled down but its still kinda viable as a variant for the Negh'var.
