I think you are right. This is for casual players and completionists. But so is the elite captain token. And even the ship x-token’s value is really only the console slot because an additional trait was already available in the fleet store.

And yet someone bought those too. Not me, I have 10 x-tokens Cryptic gave away taking up space in my inventory.
My alts don’t really need them and my main characters can only fly one ship.

Buy as many as you want to upgrade as many BOFFs as you want on any and all toons on your account. I don't get what's so difficult to understand here. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I read this: You can take advantage of this, too, Captains, with the Elite Bridge Officer Boost token. Purchase one of these tokens to upgrade one of the Bridge Officers on your account, similar to the Elite Captain Upgrades for Captains. Applying a token to your Bridge Officer will instantly add:

It says one Bridge Officer per account where do you see Many please advice.

So, quick question: how many folks have been trying unsuccessfully to get their hands on a VR Cardassian or Jem'Hadar BOFF? 🤔 This would be an answer to that. 😊

Anything that's not a white Cardy would indeed be nice.

Not worth 4 quid to me though.

It doesn't say PER account, it says ON your account. Meaning that the token works on one BOFF at time. One token, one BOFF. If it only worked on one BOFF on your whole account, why would they sell a stack of four tokens?

The token can be bought on X toon put in your account bank... removed by Y toon and used on one of their bridge officers.
I assume you can also sell them on the exchange just like Captain tokens. Once you use it its expended. So one token one Boff.

Well, before the servers self-destructed I was able to test the free boff upgrade and it appears they were not able to get captain pips unlocked for the upgraded boffs. It's a minor thing and purely cosmetic, but it was the only thing I might have been interested in with it so I won't be buying any.

It's always funny how people will apply the most ridiculously restricted interpretation of the term "pay-to-win."
ANYTHING that lets you buy power in a game is pay to win. Whether you think it works or not, whether you think you can't actually win or not.
It's about the intention of the item, not about how tightly you can define the term, so that what you don't want to fit it, doesn't fit it.

This will make your toon stronger in ground missions, it is pay-to-win. It's pretty unnecessary, and you don't really need it, but the intention is to make you stronger, by paying actual money. And that is ultimately what the term "pay-to-win" stands for.

And even if we would accept that weirdly restricting definition, it wouldn't change the actual problem people have with stuff like this or the ability to buy campaign and event progression or all the other horrible monetization happening in this game in the last few years. You probably already know that, so why argue the terminology, when you already know what people mean?
How you define PTW doesn't change that every single founder in my fleet has left the game in the last 18 months, because they are sick of these changes.

Haven't seen any, but to be fair: many Boffs don't even seem to get superior versions of all their traits. At least that's my impression so far.

I just got a Xindi specifically to upgrade him - and the Impatient trait remained the same. A Fed Klingon Boff also didn't have his Warrior trait upgraded.

Superior photographic memory has the following stats:

+2% weapon damage, accuracy rating and defense rating.
    [4:46] [Combat {self}] Your Haymaker deals 23337 (9049) Physical Damage(Critical) to Spawnmother

    [3/25 10:41][Combat (Self)]Your Haymaker deals 26187 (10692) Physical Damage(Critical) to Orinoco.

That's because not all traits have Superior versions, many are just one rank and that's it, those do not get upgraded because there's nothing to upgrade them to.

According to the Wiki Impatient and Warrior do not have Superior variants.

That one surprises me, I was under the impression Photographic Memory was another trait that did not have a Superior variant.

So I'm tempted to use the promotional BOff upgrade on a veteran officer I got long, long ago with two space traits: Leadership (bonus hull regen) and Space Warfare Specialist (bonus defense, accuracy, weapon specialization). The upgrade states it'll take the trait to the maximum but given the unique nature of the trait I'm wondering if there *is* a Superior Space Warfare Specialist version.

Has anyone tried this out yet?

Which traits don't upgrade with the new token? I am extremely hesitant to use my token because I don't know which one's will and won't have an effect, and frankly I am surprised there isn't a list already.

    Go to the wiki: https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Bridge_officer_traits

Then click on individual traits to open their page, for example Romulan Operative - https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Trait:_Romulan_Operative/boff

Yeah, Weyoun did not get Superior Astrophysist even though that Trait is in the game from K-13 for your Captain.

    Interesting.

Cryptic apparently created Superior Logic for this upgrade, but not Superior versions of Leadership, Impatient, Warrior.

Cryptic failed to properly upgrade Efficient even though Superior Efficiency exists.

    In short, a mess.

The fact they Cryptic chose not to show players which would and wouldn't be upgraded is what has me troubled. I asked them during a live stream and they just rattled off a few traits and ignored pointing out the rest. So I will be holding on to my tokens until other people act as tests subjects which does not make Cryptic look professional.

Yes, they did. From the blog: "upgrading all Inherent Traits to maximum rank for their respective types". They were a bit clearer about it in the Livestream a few weeks ago though (Borticus made a point of explaining it there), but it IS mentioned in the blog.

The fact they Cryptic chose not to show players which would and wouldn't be upgraded is what has me troubled.

They intended for it to only affect traits that already had Superior versions, so I guess they assumed there was a list somewhere online already. Traits that aren't being upgraded to pre-existing Superior variants are probably just bugged.
Cryptic apparently created Superior Logic for this upgrade, but not Superior versions of Leadership, Impatient, Warrior.

I wonder if traits that seemed to have gained a Superior variant actually had them programmed the entire time but not implemented or available on any boffs.
