I really REALLY hope they have that as a response option during some of the dialogue! Would also be cool to hear Leeta say it.

I was a little disappointed that THAT'S how they revealed it. They should have done it during the missions, not as a throw away trailer moment. Not after how long it's been building up.

I do hope that when we finally get to shoot the emperor we get to say "Shut up Westley".
Otherwise i was hoping for a Picard or Riker Emperor.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Strange that they reveal him just like that, after building up tension for so long. I would have prefered not to know beforehand, but it was absolutely everywhere..

All that remains to say is: Live long and Shut up Wesley!

I really hope the Inquisitor replaces him as the next Terran Emperor.

Figures that a Mirror Universe Wesley Crusher would be a megalomaniacal psychopath with delusions of godhood.

I am neither a fan of Wheaton nor Wesley Crusher, but he did a bang-up job on that voice over.

Now I'm wondering if STO has directors for voice acting in house, and if so how many, or if that work is farmed out.

What do you mean farmed out? The directors? Because those would be in-house.

I've enjoyed a few of Wheaton's post-Trek roles. Wesley being badly written or written as annoying isn't the actor's fault.

Hayden Christensen was fine in Jumper. It's Lucas' fault that we got the sand speech.

Yup, I mean the directors. Thanks for the scoop!

I ask because there are times when the voice work is top notch and some of the credit for that goes to whoever is giving direction. Other times the notch isn't as near the top.

I don't want to go any deeper than that because I don't want to point to something that "once seen cannot be unseen," if you catch my drift (I don't want to ruin that part of the game for anyone), and were I to post another voice over related observation related to direction I think it might result in all the forum rage even though I don't want it to.

As one of the great philosophers of our time once said, "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

Thanks again for the info and TallyHo!

the ultimate would be Sir Patrick being a cameo, so Wesley could say Shut Up, Picard

A big fat "meh" from me on this choice.

I believe they said that Terran Wesley will have all of the Traveler powers that Prime Wesley does, which does make the choice interesting even though it wouldn't have been my first choice, and ties into the comments that have been made about how powerful the Emperor is.

Yup, and I for one believe I already know what powers "Shut up Wesley" specifically has, which while not Q like at all, can indeed be quite powerful in scope if used correctly. Think Infinity Stone power as a base line, though which one(s) I am referring to, I will leave up to you. On a side note, I hope at some point in the Arc, if and when we actually interact directly with good ol "Shut up Wesley", we get to say "Shut up Wesley" to his face. Now THAT would be funny lol... 😋

    Peace...

    so he's like Adam Warlock?
  • bjorjlen#6464 bjorjlen Member Posts: 132 Arc User
No, not at all (especially as Adam is way cooler than Mr "Shut up Wesley"). I am speaking about the Infinity Stones powers themselves instead, not any one particular person in general (or specifically even)... :)

    Peace...

I am looking forward to seeing him in game. And maybe shooting him. But only because he's the evil version. I never hated Wes, or Wil.

I've enjoyed a few of Wheaton's post-Trek roles. Wesley being badly written or written as annoying isn't the actor's fault.

Hayden Christensen was fine in Jumper. It's Lucas' fault that we got the sand speech.
Several actors's reps have been ruined by poor writing and direction. If you only know Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart from their roles in the famed Twilight series, for instance, you'd never recognize them in Water for Elephants or The Runaways respectively. (For that matter, Pattinson did IMO a pretty good job of playing a more athletic, less tanky Batman in the most recent iteration of that hero.) Some, like Jake Lloyd, have been driven out of acting entirely because of the reaction to a role that was played to the best of their ability, but hampered by poor direction and writing.

Wheaton is in fact a good actor; he just had the misfortune of taking on a role that was hated by the writing staff because of the insistence that the character be crammed into every possible script.

I for one, actually enjoyed Hayden Christensen's portrayal of Anakin Skywalker.

Same here. Hayden Christensen can actually act though. Wil Wheaton an "actor"?

I take it you've never watched Stand By Me. Or Toy Soldiers. Or the last couple seasons of Eureka. You seem to be judging him by the time he spent playing a TNG character which, as noted, the writers hated because Eugene Wesley Roddenberry kept telling them to include Wesley Crusher in every possible episode, whether it made sense or not. (That's why one of them tried to kill him off in "Justice", which Wheaton cites as the moment he knew the writers' feelings.)
