Another big project that came out in the last year or so was the dedicated EV slot. There was also the expansion of the Endeavor system, the controversial Phoenix box and Reputation reward changes. There was a legendary captain upgrade this year too. I know Sir Sits, you have big dreams for the game. But how big of a new system or mechanism do you consider relevant.
There are some planned things we know about too. There is Boff upgrade system, the potential cross-faction teaming mechanism (which seems to be more distant), Playable Disco Andorians, Grudge the cat (pet?).
Also as much as I would be excited by some new systems. I think I would be happier in the next year if they worked on some of the broken systems especially the dilithium exchange with a real and meaningful fix—but the VFX issue is becoming more of a hot-button issue that needs addressing too, right?
What are some other of the often requested features? I can think about gender changes, pet tabs, tailor palettes. These are other things we can infer are coming or may eventually come if the game lasts another decade.
We're not going to revisit the Third Borg Dynasty in Exploration Clusters any time soon.
I'm not sure what new gameplay loops can be fit into the existing game, especially for TFOs where many people don't want to learn complex mechanics beyond going pew-pew-pew
We do get new traits and consoles to add flavor, and quality of life improvements now and then.

The problem with the Dil-Ex is players AND lack of demand at the moment. It is the players putting their Dil up for 1z per 500 because they want a 'quicker' sale that keep it there. They could easily just take all their Dil off the market and stick it back up for 90....I wish!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

The often uninspiring gameplay found in event TFO's over a period of years has taught players that nothing they do really matters.
Now that the Cnidarian Defender has been released with it's jelly fish mode console it's possible to complete an event TFO while catching up on household chores or a favorite TV show without fear of an afk penalty.
Gotta ❤️ the devs. They finally gave us an auto-play button
The future is likely going to be as the present. Adding new systems whilst leaving the old broken stuff old and broken.
If Cryptic tried to do anything revolutionary like gameplay other than "kill dey bottom", we'd have riots. Though for my part I kind of like it that way, it's a nice jump on, jump off setup.
The above poster is correct, we now have an AFK ship. No penalty, no fuss. With the fantastic bonus of annoying other players.
