Why are ground items always being incorporated into MegaSpaceBundles?

Legendary Dominion Bundle
A FULL SUITE of Very Rare (Purple) Mk XIV Ground Equipment:
Also includes an exclusive Jem’Hadar Kar’takin unavailable anywhere else!

Ever since the game launched, I have been looking everywhere for a Kar'takin weapon.
I was hoping a Jem'Hadar Captain could craft or otherwise obtain one, but I could not find the option to do so.

So I am significantly disappointed that the only way to get the weapon I desire is to buy a MegaSpaceBundle just for one single ground item.
This happened before, with a MU MegaSpaceBundle.
I can not justify the expensive purchase just to obtain one ground item, so the bundle goes unpurchased by me and thus, the item is locked behind a paywall I can't climb over.

Given this has happened twice so far, I would recommend selling the ground items separately and not incorporating them into a space bundle full of items I don't need or use.

    One word, begins with M.

Think of them as car salesman offering extras, except said extras aren't optional.

Another thing is they know most of us players don't much care for ground outside of barbie, so ground bundles don't sell nearly as well as ships.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't pad the bundle even more to get to 12000 zen tbh.

Also there's the fact that primary target demographic for these kind of bundles is new players so they're not likely to have inventories full of maxed out ground gear (or maybe have not decided what side of the game they like more, yes there's people who prefer ground over space).

basically the intent of that bundle is not to give new stuff to veteran players but rather give players incentive to try out new things, those ground items make sense when viewed thru that lens.

To squeeze even one more sale out of it, targeting that one player who just wants the ground weapon and buys it for that. If it works they succeed.

In my opinion, just offering stuff like that in the C-Store for 5 bucks a pop would be great. But that will never happen.

    Key word being IF.
I am not so reckless with my money to buy an entire bundle worth of items just for that one ground item.

I am one of those players who prefers ground instead for space, for two reasons:
    1. It’s actually a challenge, I have to think about combat on the ground.
    2. My first sci-fi mmo was entirely ground based, so I’m used to fighting ground combat.

I don’t know if the other players came into the game from games that were only spaceships, but judging from the majority of opinions I have read, those players definitely sound like they never play ground based games.

Honestly, I only need one ship per character and I’ve chosen the ones I that suit me best, so I literally can not comprehend why offering a new ship or two every month is a good idea.
Like an experienced player will just pay out money when they’ve already got a ship they can fly for free. Or maybe paid for if the one they acquired was from exchange or the c-store.
So the premise above is correct, these MegaShipBundles only appeal to new players who don’t have many ships. I wonder if there are enough of those to make a profit on the sales.

Because the bundle you were referring to was never meant to be exclusively space oriented and is meant to get a captain up and running for space AND ground. there's more to this game than just space, even if the space part is considered the favorite.

Cynical answer: fluff. They add extra items to justify the price point they want to charge, even though they know actual selling point is the ship itself for most people. They also know a few people may actually want a certain item other than the ship (see OP) to consider buying the entire pack just to get that one item in question.

Less cynical answer: value. They want people to feel like they are getting their money's worth so they add extra items that they think people will enjoy along with the ship.

Honestly I think it's more the former than the latter, but I'm willing to admit the truth may be somewhere in between.

If it's the latter, why not offer the item separately and leave it in the bundle as a bonus? Yeah, so that people who wanted that item for years just buy the whole thing instead just pay 5€ for the ground weapon.

The item I want from the MU MegaBundle was a costume option.
In practical terms, that is of no functional benefit in gameplay, being purely decorative/cosmetic.

Honestly, to get a polearm style weapon, I could just get a Lirpa for free rather then buy the Dominion bundle.

So if that was a sales strategy, then they failed completely with me.

Actually, I’d pay like $10 for the Kar’takin on it’s own.
Which would probably be like $15 Australian,

    It's bait mate

Not sure a lot of people would buy it just for the weapon, but it being exclusive is bound to push people over the edge who're considering the whole pack

Why are Starship Traits for Science Builds on Escorts ect...? So they have a wider audience to sell too. Marketing 101.
