Prodigy items in STO (apologies for yet ANOTHER Prodigy post)

kayajaykayajay Member Posts: 1,990 Arc User
Please don't jump down my neck for this, but I was wondering if/when some things from Prodigy will appear in STO.

When Picard was released, we got the Zhat Vash ground weapons, Seven's dual pistols, episodes with new Seven in them and the La Sirena not long after. Discovery ships and items flowed freely and Lowers Decks...we got the DOFF's almost immediately and then the Ground Kit not too long ago.

Is there a specific interval between the release of a series and when items hit STO?

It's obviously the Protostar that I want, but Gwyn's weapon would be a fantastic Lobi Store addition.

I've also not tried if it's possible to recreate the new races in the series using the Alien option of the tailor, but some new additions would be nice.

With the ship, like the Dauntless, the Protostar should move faster in Sector Space.

I'd still love a Hologram Janeway Trait.

There are Workbees and Shuttle Replicators as an option...it could release both.

You'd have to have that bridge, no matter how the ship comes into the game...you can't have the bog standard one.

I'm sure there's more to add and I know that Season 2 of Picard and Season 4 of Discovery are bound to introduce more to STO too, but some Prodgy additions would be fantastic.

The new Type 1 phaser also comes to mind.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a Protostar bridge, though. Bridges are something they simply don't make any more, there are already ships in the game that would feature unique bridges but they simply didn't make any. They don't even let use choose the bridge freely on many ships.

Whatever they add, it would be nice if things were added to the C-store for a change.

Apart from ships, very few things get added to that store. And I mean actual things, not just services like expansion of inventories or upgrade tokens that allow you to use more stuff.

Anything else like consoles, most of the Boffs like the holographic ones or new uniforms end up in the Mudd store, IF they're added to the store that uses Zen at all.

With three or four series currently running, there's little reason why the non-ship parts of the C-store should not be expanded and filled with new things all the time.

It's a brilliant idea. I can't honestly remember the last thing I bought from the C-Store. If anything, it's just been claiming the occasional free item, like Bank Slots.

If Vanity Shields had been there instead of in the Dilithium Store, especially since the Dilithium Exchange is still dead as a dodo, etc.

Good point. I don't see why they wouldn't just put it in the Lobi store or a box since the yalready did that with almost everything else from the new shows at this point.

Maybe make all the Main Character's Species playable so far out of the main cast, only the Tellarite race is playable.

I doubt that's going to happen. Playable species development doesn't seem to be a priority. If it were, we'd probably have had DSC Andorians, playable Androids (assuming CBS no longer opposes that), more Xindi and Denobulans by now.

It'd be nice if they made more playable species a priority one day. But I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

I wouldn't mind if they weren't playable species, so much as costume choices in the Alien race...just all the bits and pieces and then it's up to you to recreate it.

    I haven't tried - but I'll wager someone has.
Eitherway, I suspect it'd probably be possible to recreate Gwyn, Dal and Jankom Pog to some degree using the Alien generator. I mean, it'd likely be difficult to recreate their hair but still, I think you'd get something very close.

As for items - it would be good to see the phasers they've used. Uniforms are a no-go as they don't actually wear Starfleet uniforms, although the Comm badges are probably possible. Fair to see that it's the ship most will want though - and have to admit, I do love the Protostar. Not as much as I love the Rhode Island Nova sub-type, but the fact that the Protostar has some design similarities to the Nova class is probably the reason I like it so much.

For years, I was dying for the Rhode Island and I never thought it would get a skin upgrade. I got it the moment it was released...but then I realized that it didn't mean as much as it would have, if it had been given some love a few years earlier.

Now that I want is the Protostar, because it's such a gorgeous design. The title credits sell it to you alone, but everything about it is so well-thought-through. I can't praise whoever designed it highly enough, for the attention to detail. It's sleek, sexy, reminiscent, evocative, exciting, classic, but new...I would actually raid my bank account for that one.

I totally agree on the costumes...I honestly haven't even noticed them, except enjoying Janeway's classic, just with the updated combage :-)

Yeah, have to admit that the Protostar will be a 'must have' when it does appear in-game. Its a fantastic design. Again, I don't quite love it as much as I do the Rhode Island but the similarities mean it quickly became one of my all-time favourite designs.
I love the fact that its so small too - I, for one, am absolutely sick and tired of the preoccupation with making each ship bigger and more powerful than what came before and I love the whole 'power in a small package' thing that the Protostar has going on!

All the bigger ships I've ever bought; the Annorax, Borg Juggernaut, Atrox...they're just not fun to fly. I want a ship that's manoeuvrable, without the compromises. A ship that feels like it can handle itself, without being pigeon-holed and in a box. For me, the Protostar would be the perfect size and I think balance. I wouldn't call it a science ship, it's not an escort, it's certainly not a cruiser and I don't think it would work as a pilot either. I'm not honestly sure what that leaves, but I'm find with a ship with no label, for it to be type non-binary and just be as cool as it is in the show.

A gorgeous ship to fly...that's what I'd love to have.

It'd make a good Frigate in my mind.

I mean, it does share some similarities with the few other Frigates in the game - the Freedom class (aka the USS Franklin). Both are tiny ships with very small crews for example.
    To quote the STO wiki:
Frigates are a type of starship. They represent a unique combination of Cruiser capabilities, in a smaller, faster and more fragile package. They come with the Strategic Maneuvering and Weapon System Efficiency Cruiser Commands, and are able to benefit from Raider Flanking bonus as well. These nimble vessels are also similar to a Raider in that they boast an abundance of Universal BOff seats, can load dual cannons, and have similar weapon slot configurations.

And since there are so few ships of this classification in the game to-date (two - and they are both tiny ships too), they could do something pretty unique with it.

At the moment, I'm flying the Franklin! I actually bought it for two toons when it was on offer and even though I couldn't stand it in the JJ-Film...it's so grown on me. It feels so much more "Star Trek", because there's both the nod to Enterprise and TOS. You also can't deny the slots. If we could have the Protostar, with a setup like the Franklin...I just might have one of every toon, because it would be Endgame for me.

It'd be nice to have some Prodigy inspired options for the Tellarites. We still don't have the DSC version, when they come around to it they can now add the hoof-like hands that Pog has. And maybe cybernetic arms.

I'm expecting a vine trap (like mimicking the user and taunting the target to melee them only to get wrapped) with some quick description about how during a trip to Planet Larry, a sapling got infiltrated into a ship but grew to be friendly enough to offer assistance with its offspring.

Some kind of shuttle replication console would be nice for ships without hangars, like a console with charges where it quickly builds a rudimentary shield-less unfinished shuttle every time whose only purpose is to ram its target.
