Are we getting extra days added to this event

I noticed nothing on the news portion of the website that says this event will be extended or not.

Why would we? The game didn't go down during the event for more than a handful of hours for maintenance. We didn't loose any days or half a day.. or a quarter day.. think it was 2 or 3 hours?

Also the event runs for like 4 more days, if for some reason the maintenance messed you up a day or two you still have time for completion. (should be like 3-4 spare days depending on actual end time n what time you started yadda yadda) I finish it on the 13th it's listed running to the 18th but that can get a bit screwy
  • While it might not have been actually down (except during the unintentional Win 7 black screen) that required waiting a whole day, the other patch combined would make approx 2 days of playing time for various players who game at a certain time.

Yes I will be done on the 14th, but you are missing the key issue, you will have a possible 2 day head start on me for the bonus dil after you get your 10 days in. So I lose out on 2 days of bonus dil. In addition what if I became ill and needed to skip a few days, now I won't have those extra days to give me a chance.

If the devs do what I think they will, they will take your attitude and say nah we don't want to extend it by two days, we would have to change the code to indicate 2 days more and we could threaten the time schedule for our other events since we don't want them to have time to breathe and besides we don't want them to get more dil, we want them to buy zen instead and then they can trade that for dil. I am surprised they haven't been even decent enough to tell all players we will give 2 days extra and allow you the same advantage of the full event but there will be those not affected who will get 2 extra days of dil. While I don't like that idea, at least I am getting the full event. I also wish they would change the time for patching the game.

The easiest way is to have it done at the end of the games day (3am now, 4am when clocks change again. They could pre-load the patch right away onto users, have it ready to be integrated at their level, then patch and bring the servers online once they have made sure the patch and servers work. It shouldn't take so long.

Some of us haven’t been able to log in for a week and a half because of another known bug. Our problem has not been fixed with emergency maintenance and we were unable to complete the Last few days of the Halloween event, too. Maybe they should just do the Red Alert over. Or maybe you could just catch the next one in a week and a half if a one-day delay is going to cause you not to get the prize...

Besides if they delayed every event every time they broke the game...we will have to put off Winter Wonderland until at least February.

Events are ALWAYS longer than what is required to earn the rewards to account for maintenance. Maintenance DID NOT last for 48 hours, only about 12 hours this week. Although Cryptic have extended events in the past, in 10 years, I think they've only done this 3 times. Are they going to extend in this case? No.

The black screen when launching the game never stopped being able to login, task manager to kill the game client and relaunching it has always been a work around. Happens constantly I'm afraid, in fact after the fix I'm experiencing it again when I wasn't before the patch but the same resolution has always worked

Its been an off and on problem for a few months now and a search of the forums or reddit could of lead you to this fix. If this was somehow something NEW brought on because of windows 7 than I would recommend you upgrade to a version of windows that is actually supported by Microsoft as they cut support back in jan of 2020 and had offered free upgrades to win 10 for a long time. Sorry you chose to skip upgrading but those types of problems are going to become more frequent for you in the future. (if this was actually different than what we've been experiencing)

Either way, these are things that while annoying either had a work around if you took a little time to search or where brought on by your decision to stick with an older OS that you where warned for a long time was going out and had plentiful time to upgrade freely. The first part IS annoying I won't lie but this is also STO, a game we all have to recognize is incredibly old run by devs that don't understand the bulk of the games code. When issues arise in game you have to take it apon yourself to look up resolutions (if your that concerned with missing the two days that is)

While I sympathize with you and your location in the world, and the patches and such that keep you from playing each day, the events are designed to cover those kinds of things by giving you extra days (14 in this case to finish 10 days worth of tasks). The "bonus dilithium" that you are using as your excuse is there only for those who can and do finish it early. Call it a built-in contingency plan. And if we followed your logic for every event and covered for every person, events would seriously NEVER end...

I tore my patellar tendon during the Halloween event and spent a few days away from my gaming laptop. I finished the night before the event ended. I didn't get any bonus dilithium but the initial 8000 for running it one after the other that night... That's the way the metaphorical ball bounced. I'm just glad the extra days were there...

Sounds like the old "entitlement culture" to me...

    Sorry buddy!
