Black Screen After Today's Patch

After today's patch with a fix for FL 11 I got BLACK SCREEN NOW.

I never had black screen before, but now I got it.
I am updating DIRECTxD to latest version so hopefully it will fix it.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium

How come your fix broke it?
I want an explanation please

    same and i get the cryptic error for relaunch the game ... and stop running...:( wth??

    Aye, same here.

    The patch completely and utterly destroyed the game. Music is playing, cursor is shown but the screen is black. Reinstalling had no effect.

    Congratulations Cryptic, you managed to bonk it up worse than usual.

    Windows 7, uhm...wasn't there a posting, that OS will no longer be supported?

    One of my fleet members has the same issue Windows 7. I do not but running Windows 10.
    C-Store Inc. is still looking for active members on the fed side. If you don't have a fleet feel free to contact me in game @stegi.

    It seems to affect win7 and 11 only, do I dont think they are even going to fix it soon.

    Windows 7 will be incompatible with STO from February 15, 2022.

    They're getting worse patch by patch. I used to get the black screen occasionally but now its permanent. I often wonder if they are trying to kill this game on purpose, I find it hard to believe any developer can be so incompetent so consistently. I mean even the new ship post has a glaring error. It says the trait is called Interlaced Emitters in the ship stats then it's called Proximity Alert further down. Not good enough Cryptic, nowhere near good enough. I'm surprised CBS don't have anything to say...

    I also have a black screen since the patch. Game was working this morning, and now it's unplayable. Not a great patch.

    Same problem, Windows 7, Direct X already latest version as are the graphics card drivers, black screen with music playing, can even click on spot where the characters would be shown and you hear it loading their map. Tried restarting, installing it under Arc, running it in safe mode. No change. Works on my Windows 10 laptop.

    Yes, but if I recall correctly that won't start until December.

    Yeah I had it two or three times for every ten or twenty launches so very occasionally. Now it's permanently happening for me like everyone else. They better extend the red alert or give us the T6-X upgrade as they can blow it out their impulse engines if they think I will be buying zen for one after this. Most of their mess ups are just comical and we have all grown to love the "it's not a bug, it's a feature" we so fondly associate with Cryptic but this one is too far. I think the error in the date of the patch notes shows their incompetence or lack of interest....

    Not to mention the stats for the new ship say its trait is 'Interlaced Emitters' yet further down the page it changes to 'Proximity Alert' but I guess them proof reading their posts is too much effort too...

    Any chance it gets fixed tomorrow?
    Usually after a messed patch on Thursday - they run another maintenance on Friday to re-fix it
    COMON GUYS...
    Fix it pleaseee.
    I don't play anything now except STO.
    Most games now are just TOXIC.
    Full of hatred horror gore and other stuff.
    And STO remains nice in this area

    Or do I have to run and look for PC Shop to install me WIN 10 on second desktop?

    Guys give me an opinion please.

    I REALLY DON'T WANT to end-up on Christmas looking at black screen.
    I wanna do STO'S Christmas event.

    Nope. Thinking of trying with ARC but I don't think that's the problem.

    The old blackscreen on launch workaround was to launch and when the black screen came up kill it in task manager then immediately start it from the desktop again. I don't know if it works this time, but it did when it happened in the spring this year.

    Edit: somehow I skipped the word "workaround" when I typed this comment, fixed that so it becomes coherent.

    Getting black screens on 3-Win 7 Pro machines,2 of mine plus my brothers.
