i would like to see more phoenix prize ship events. The ship events every few months is great this would be another option. when they do not have a new ship or a ship they made for the event they could offer a t6 phoenix prize ship token.

They know and acknowledge they need to update the Store, which they've said they'll eventually get round to doing.

I wonder if there might be a short term drop in the dilex if they

    1. Upped the drop rate of Epic and Ultra Rare Tokens
    2. Made all the ships that require those tokens account unlocks.

All I've ever gotten from phoenix prizes is DOFFs and upgrades. I've kind of given up ever hoping to get a ship from it, winning the lottery seems more likely.

If it was to change I'd say get rid of the events and make them drop in elite TFOs or something?

That would encourage leeching, with many players who aren't suitable for elite TFOs signing up to get those prizes. I wouldn't wish that on the players who do run elite TFOs -- they're making an active choice not to be a nuisance to lesser-geared players running normal TFOs (ie, exploding everything instantly, so nobody else can get credit).

You could make it, only a prize when achieving good scores or etc to incentivise everyone working to achieve all the optional goals?
Idk, elite TFOs was just the first repeatable but suitably difficult thing I could think of. We kind of need something to make optional goals in TFOs matter though so that could work?

They could always do both. They have this weird inability to do more than on thing at once. Layering it would make more sense from a players/game design perspective(IE more then one reliable place to obtain them.). The only thing it accomplishes it pushing high prices. They would be smarter to make it more fluent so y ou get more sales. Even if it doesn't makes quite as much money, making players happy is better than money for the long run and health of the game and game community. Let alone the quality of the game. The only ways to force money all rely on reducing the game complexity and specifically lowers how much is added to the game and what the player gets. This game is a shining example of that problem. Complexity is always the better game design. And development is always the best option for keeping a game going. Besides, they run multiple games. Anything they do here can be added to the others to draw in more players and make all the games better potentially. There is no reason a game can't last indefinitely. The only problem with current games is the lack of depth or complexity.

I wouldn't do both 1 and 2. I would do one or the other. If the reports of it just being very random are true it might give out the ships too fast. 1 has the advantage of making it more worthwhile to try to get them. 2 makes it more worthwhile when you get them. Unless the ships are just too old for it to matter. Then just do both. I would assume it depends on what they intend to put in if anything into the boxes later. And they could always adjust it later. Either the odds or the cost of the items themselves. They could always add items that cost more than 1 token.

Not sure how they can run a game and only stick to the simplest options every time. Do they not have people who know how to design more complex systems? A proper one would do all of this and more while maintaining a similar balance. Or adding depth so there is more to it and more options to boot. Complexity always out ways simplicity in games ultimately. You just need to have people who know enough to easily implement it. Hence why you need as many educated people doing the work as much as possible. Which would be easy to maintain the more complex and interesting the work is.

They have said this, yes. But when was the last time they actually did it? Versus how many items have been added to the Mudd store?

I'm going to be 100% honest here, I'm glad event ships have been coming to Mudds instead of the Phoenix pack. I can TOTALLY see the argument for wanting them to be in both, BUT

If I had to choose between trying to win the lotto for a single character unlock on an event ship I want vs payin 4250 zen to unlock it for my entire account that's not even a contest.

I missed the weather ship event and I currently have 3 characters that want that console, I'd need to crack what 3000-5000 phoenix packs for a possible chance at that? That's like 12 million dil? or 24,000 zen worth?

I've opened a few thousand packs and have gotten 1 epic token so I have cold hearted on a SINGLE character.. that friggin blows

The Weather ship is not currently available by either method.

If there was to be a trade-up option for Phoenix tokens, you would at least have a maximum cost there rather than the only option being a lottery draw.

I know its not available but it will become available in time and thankfully it'll be in the Mudd market so I can get it across my account vs just in the phoenix pack thus making me have to gamble with dil to MAYBE get 1

If we did a trade up with 5 trade ups per tier it would cost 625 greens per epic. If we average 15 greens per box of 10 that is about 420 boxes total for 1,680,000 dil. Divide that by 500 and you get 3360 zen. So, it would make it approximately the cost of a zen ship. That would be pretty good even for an account unlock old ship. I think adding the upgrade token would be more worth it.

They should keep the defunct ships in the phoenix boxes and keep the higher end stuff in the mudd store(Which can be cycled in over time.). And maybe add account unlock to the epic and ultra rare ships. It would also make a decent dill sink. Or if we made it non account unlock it would make it a very big dil sink if someone needs it. Although I would think how low end the ship are it would probably be a better sink if it's account unlock. That alone is a reason to get them even if we don't want to use them. I would do it personally just to complete the account.

Maybe if it's account unlock they either add a special place to reclaim like the dill store. Or add them to the zen store but only unlock them with phoenix tokens. I'm assuming using the dil store reclaim is the best option.

As is we have three tiers of non zen ships. Phoenix is the lowest of the low with almost no use or very specialty use. Decent to very useful ships are mostly lobi, Ultra good or odd are all mudds. Why not make the pheonix stuff available. It doesn't hurt anything I'm aware of and it's mostly noob stuff or stuff to complete a character in a very special way. Account unlock with token upgrades seems very reasonable. Plus you can use the extras for upgrades if you get enough.

I was thinking lower but not account-unlock (as most of the other Phoenix items aren't either).

This. If they do the trade-up option, there's no reason to make them account unlocks -- that undermines the effectiveness of epic prize vouchers as a dilithium sink. Right now, they don't work as a dilithium sink because they're just too random and rare.

I'm assuming a lot of the ships have low desireability to get. If this is the case account unlock would make up for this on average. It depends how many people would actually want them. if there is low demand for the ship account unlock may outdo single use. As it cost the same as a zen ship unlock to get this is reasonable. Unless the market goes back down below 500 dil per zen those ships will always be over 3000zen to obtain. There is no reason to not account unlock them. It's more reasonable over the long run for players. I have very little reason to get them personally over the T6 items. if they are account unlock I will personally unlock them just to unlock them. If most people are the same then it will make a better dil sink if it's account unlock.

There are 18 ships in the phoenix box atm. That is 60480 zen to unlock them all. And they could add ships to it later. One idea is to make low end unfinished NPC ships like the racial dreadnaughts and whatnot. Say the orion ships. They could make a bunch of t5 version and put them all in the phoenix boxes and then make T6 versions for the zen store or other locations. Then the phoenix ships are nooby ships until you get a really good T6 ship. It could be a leveling option before you get nicer stuff. They could also have optional set or racial stuff that fits other T6 ships that goes well with the higher end stuff. I'm trying to make ships that are all orion or gorn etc. These T5 consoles could be oriented at going with the 3 set consoles in the zen store. But not necessarily be part of a set.
