But I could be very wrong...

The Luna wasn't part of a bundle when she got updated. I don't think EVERYTHING has to be tied to those three things. We've been getting steady updates to older, canon ships for a while now. Most do tie in with some kind of event or release. But not all have to be of a big scale type. Even just a single C-Store ship of that line might warrant a model revamp. And in the case of the Mirror Guardian... the ship artist took one look at the model and was like "Dude... let me at it before you release it."

The Luna was a major feature of the season finale of Lower Decks...you don't think, just maybe, that had something to do with why it got updated?

As have said, I'm hoping for a 'Ships of the Line' release for a possible T6 Nova. Again - all assumption, but I'm assuming that there is a T6 Cryptic 'homebaked' design ship in the pipeline, which will most likely be named the 'Equinox class', that'll be able to use the Nova and Rhode Island skins And I think it'll either be released as a 'Ships of the Line' bundle in it's own right, or will be in a bundle with something like the Saber class (which seems to have received some attention too) in the same way as the Grissom and Clarke classes were released.
Heaven knows when it'll appear, but I'm convinced those are the likely routes they'd take with it.

Hm - seems Lower Decks might have answered a few questions pertaining to STO's recent ship release trends.....

Alert - Major 'Lower Decks' Spoiler follows:

Ironic- always did say the only way we'd get a remastered Nova was if it appeared in one of the new series!

Of course, only jumping to conclusions but....

Part of me thinks "major coincidence", considering isn't that the season finale? It only came out today, didn't it?

Well, there is communication between the Lower Decks and STO production teams. Hence how they were able to drop a remastered Luna class into the game relatively quickly after the S1 Finale of Lower Decks.
I also recall reference being made, in a Livestream, to the reason that STO hasn't made the California class available in-game was that the STO team were told that the ship could/can do something that hadn't been seen yet and the Devs decided to wait to see what that something was.

you don't get it. there won't be a T6 Nova. Now they can just point and say WE JUST UPDATED IT! it goes to the bottom of the pile now! and people like me are stuck with a very pretty T2 ship, because I do not have access to the higher tier ones

I don't know - I have a hard time believing there won't be a T6 Nova. Lets put this into perspective - they commissioned Tobias Richter to remaster the ship. However, as incredible as the remastered model may be, it is still (at present) a T5 ship and, as already mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, that isn't going to generate sales.

They need a T6 model to generate the ROI on the work that was put into the remaster and the 'homebaked' design (most likely 'Equinox class' that would accompany it. I couldn't guess when this might happen, I am convinced it will happen.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?!

Eitherway - with the class having finally received a phenomenal remaster in STO and
having appeared in Lower Decks (and apparently being a Starfleet Security ship!?)
it does feel like a good time to be a fan of the class! :D

Yep, it looks great. Did some rounds around ESD with fireworks to celebrate the new model. I really would like to see it with Material 7, too, so a Tier 6 version would be great. I don't think I'll fly the Tier 5 version much - and I am currently more alternating between my KDF recruit and my new TOS recruit to level masteries and endeavours an reps and so on to have time for that (and I don't play that much right now to begin with.)

I only just finished watching the latest Lower Decks, and it does seem indicate why the Oberth was redone as well as the Nova.

Although still glad to see the Nova redone.I have only been playing STO since start of last year, and have seen how long you have been requesting it.

I started a new character during the Delta recruit event who will main a Nova, although only have the T2 refit at the moment till I get to Level 50.Have a Mirror Nova my brother sent me for the character, and also enough fleet credits to get the fleet versions to.

My T5 retrofit (soon to be T5-X, if I can get my hands on a T5-U from the Exchange and use that X upgrade I had lying around) would like a word with you. That was the general solution for people who didn't have/couldn't get/couldn't afford/etc. a T6 version of certain ships (I ran around with a T5-X K't'inga before I got the legendary, because I could never get it out of the damn promo boxes).

you mean the retrofit you have to be in a fleet to join? Some of us have real problems with fleets from very bad experiences. all i have access to is the tier 2, so @vetteguy904's statement stands.

Guess which ship made a brief appearance in Lower Decks as a transport for Star Fleet Security.

(Been flying a Mirror Nova for the last few days, i think the extra sparkle is responsible for lowering NPC defense values.)
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

So the Mirror Nova DOES get the new looks! They're excellent, as usual the model makers are doing a bangup job.

Now if only I could use my Voyager interiors with the ship...
Once, I was simply called Mojo. Now, I'm forced into a new name, but don't be fooled, I'm the original STO Mojo!

This game needs detailed crafting, exploration and interaction systems.

True - and they have at least two options in that respect.

There is Tim Earls Rhode Island concept design (which was, obviously, not used):
    ZK0Ri6J.png

And the better known Defiant Pathfinder:
    DefiantPathfinder.gif
Although in terms of the Defiant Pathfinder, I'm not sure the differences are all that significant - all they really did was swap the torpedo launchers for a secondary deflector and sensor pallets.

Didn't think a skin remaster would ever happen.
Looks great, got the Zen ready for it since years ago.
Now hoping the game keeps on going, but just in case it won't, I'll be opening some boxed ships.

I'll be honest, I'm not really a fan of nor hate the Nova, however Voyager brought in a few ship which broke with the typical round saucer ships for a more unique style and I much prefer their look, and the Prometheus one of those ships has always been my number one favorite Star Trek ship.

Well, Reyan, you finally got what you wanted. Are you happy now?

So what's the best Nova currently available? is there a T5 Fleet Retro to which you can apply U and X upgrades?

I wish they'd do a visual update like this for the Research Science Vessel.

    ***EDIT***
I just checked the Wiki and it looks like there is a Retro and a Mirror Retro, but no Fleet Retro. I also didn't see anything about a U upgrade. Still, both Retros have a Cmdr Sci seat for GW3 and 4 Sci consoles which could become 5 with the X upgrade, but it's not like the Research Science Vessel which has a U to add a 5th Sci console and then the X would add a universal which could be used to add a 6th Sci console.

Still, not bad. Respect for your persistence.
