Deadly Maneuvers Set any good?

bigduke66bigduke66 Member Posts: 19 Arc User
Hi
I have a for a T5 and in the current campaign a choice for 2 T6 coupons.
I was considering getting the Avenger & Inquiry Battlecruisers to complete the set as I already own the Arbiter.
Is the set any good?

Inquiry is promotion ship pack, so the choice or 2 T6 coupons wouldn't work as that's C-Store ships only, you would have to use the campaign III reward for a promo ship pack then select the Inquiry on the character you want it on (single-character only).

The wiki says "Set 2: Deadly Maneuvers
    +15% All Weapon Damage
    +33% Flight Turn Rate
    Set 3: Toughest, Fastest Ship
    +15% Maximum Hit Points
    +15% Flight Speed"

I've tried the ship with it, and surprisingly still doesn't turn fast enough as I had anticipated (maxed endeavors for space). Many consoles that ships come with tend to be just for fun, unless meta somehow for massive survival or DPS. The set bonuses tend to be very weak in comparison to proper consoles that boost those same stats.

The ship line can also house a battle cloak if equipping the quantum torp console, cloak console, and quad phaser cannons.

I've used the 2 piece set from the Arbiter and Avenger and think it's a decent set until you get better items to use in place of the two consoles. I don't currently use the 2 piece set on my Fleet Arbiter which is one of my favorite ships.

If I was to get an Inquiry Battlecruiser it would be because it's a nice ship that I like and not necessarily to complete the 3 piece set.

The Inquiry is really much better than I imagined. Opened it a few days ago but decided to place it on alt account instead, since all the set bonuses (Battle cloak & deadly maneuvers) on an Arbiter-X weren't that fun, not effective at all, and like mentioned still lacked in turn rate. Saving main for the S31 BC.

Inquiry on the other hand, without set bonuses outside of rep stuff feels like a heavy escort in agility, without maxed endeavors, and on a Rom alien sci, since I find sci career in space the most fun. It's not even a phaser build as it requires, but a plasma DHC (all different types to stack DoT) with particle emission torp in rear. The build is just right for what I like and a lot of fun, with such a nice model Cryptic made, much better than it appears in Picard. I've always been a fan of the regular Avenger skin, my 4th oldest ship, but find no need to switch to it or mix it since it's so good as it is.

Deadly Maneuvers is actually 100% useless anyway

It's not going to be a chart topper but if you want to pick up some extra cat 1 damage and turn rate, then it's worthwhile. I use it on a few of my tank builds.

For what you do perhaps, otherwise that's your opinion.

Keep your opinions coming but here some additional quests.
    1. Is there any T5 that is a must have because of console or whatever it brings?

    3. Is there any better replacement for the Arbiter then going Fleet Avenger and turning that one into T6-X.

Assuming you meant to say is there any better replacement for the Arbiter other than going Fleet Arbiter and then upgrading it to T6-X.

Given the Arbiter's flexible boff layout and generous base turn rate of 9 it will always be a unique ship to me

However, I recently acquired a Gagarin Miracle Worker Battlecruiser using an previous event's C-store Tier 6 ship coupon. This is another great all around ship that's potentially higher performing at the cost of a slightly lower base turn rate of 7.5 It also has a decent bridge officer layout and benefits from being able to use Miracle Worker boff abilities (emphasis on Mixed Armaments Synergy & Narrow Sensor Bands), gets an extra universal console slot being a MW ship, and has a mastery trait that can be handy. Am finding the Gagarin to be a nice ride so possibly worth your consideration.

The Fleet Gagarin/Shepherd and Inquiry are almost identical ships in terms of stats. The Inquiry is tougher, a little more maneuverable, but the only real difference is that the Inquiry has Intelligence secondary spec on its Lt. Commander sci station

Both are big upgraders over the Arbiter
