Game keeps crashing...

For the last 24 hours, every time I try to log on to the game it crashes. Is anyone else having that problem, or is there something wrong with my computer. Please let me know. Thank you.

It's something that started 5/25 for many people from time to time.

The best I can suggest is make sure Windows is fully updated, and you have the most recent Video Drivers available.

    Perhaps try reading thru this:

As Strathkin mentions, it's something that's been happening to the odd few folk, and most likely cause of a driver update.

Whatever you do, don't do the nuclear 'reinstall' option as this won't fix it generally. Try starting the game in 'Safe Mode' in the launcher's Options menu and see if this resolves it. I have had the odd 'Black Screen of Infinite Loading' lately, but not crashing, so it could be a particular chipset or driver.

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

With the infinity black screen o'nothing, you can kill the game client in Task Manager and it'll load with your next try.

Crashing, I have no idea. I've only crashed a few times since this all started.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

I still think the CORE of the problem is within STO, even though I suggested updating Drivers as that helps--at least for some.

Still today every time I reboot or power off my machine on first load I always get Black Screen, and it's like the Application fails to properly load on Windows Startup but only the first time. ??? Why who knows only Cryptic might know, yet for some their ARC update often spawns redundant 32-bit rather than 64 bit applications.

Many think that is what is causing ARC to prevent STO from launching on startup, as it doesn't happen (Black Screen) when loading the APP without ARC so I've heard. Is this related to the 21H1 Windows update that happened a week earlier, who knows...

I'm not getting either of those, so I wonder the issue isn't STO or the drivers by themselves but rather something in combination of those 2

You know what. I did a force verify and it's been working ever since. Thanks for all of the advice. I'm not sure what actually triggered that in the first place.

Did the game patch anything during force verify, if so it might have been a case of a corrupted file.
